Ruffwear Doubleback Dog Collar

Item # RUF0026

Ruffwear made the Doubleback Dog Collar for your German Shepherd or other large, strong best friend of the canine variety. Ruffwear took its inspiration from a rock climbing harness to create this super burly dog collar: Tubular webbing and high-strength aluminum hardware won't break, and you can doubleback the webbing, just as you can on your harness, so you know it'll hold your huge dog. You can micro-adjust the fit of this collar for your furry buddy's comfort.

Bottom Line:

Your leash or arm will break before this dog collar does.

Good collar

My large Aussie (79lbs) has used this collar exclusively since he's shredded his bamboos and other collars. Biner clip hole is money and he wears it like it is not there in the summer heat. I rarely take it off unless it is over 95 outside. Good control for a neck collar when properly adjusted to size. Get it.

isn't this called a leash? i thought the collar was the piece

isn't this called a leash? i thought the collar was the piece that goes around your dog's neck...this, being the leash, is what clips on to the collar...right?

This is indeed a collar and not a leash - it's just super long because it double backs through the clip.

If you look not really that hard at the picture, you'll see the collar part in the upper left. It's kind of both. What is pictured above is indeed a leash. The loop in the upper left is for your hand, the carabiner clip is to hook on a collar. Judging by the price, if you purchased this you would get a collar not a leash. My guess is that the picture is matched up with the wrong item.

Decent...

It worked great while we only had one dog. The leash attachment is more than large enough for a climbing biner for making your own leash too. After we got our second dog though, he would pull out the double backed strap and turned it into a tassel, reducing the collar to threads! I just salvaged the hardware and sewed a new collar using 1 inch tubular climbing webbing though...now that sucker is going NOWHERE! Great hardware, crappy strap.

Good High Quality Collar

I've had this collar on my dog for the past few months and it's worked out great. The only issue is when he wrestles with my parent's 8 month old Newfoundland, the Newf grabs onto this putting a few small runs in the collar.

Utter Rubbish.

Our pup put a series of runs in the nylon in this collar after less than 24 hours of wearing it. This is getting returned, and we're going back to the cheapie from the local pet store. This is hugely disappointing.

Like it, hard to get on and off

By:

We originally got this collar for the pooch because he stretches so many out (pulls on his leash a ton). While it is great for not stretching, it is a pain to get on and off a squirming dog because you have to double back and attach the tail of the collar back to itself. For a wiggler, that's a lot of patience they may not have. We ended up getting another collar - but will use this on occasion.
