This isnt the current model

Was glad I didn't pay more for this item. This is the same item that u will see in pet store right now. This item is not as form fitting, doesn't have as much reflective, zipper doesn't lay as flat, or fleece as brushed flat as current model. It still a great product compared to other off brands in the market. But I would not pay more. It I had to do it again, id prob. Shop around wait for coupons or sale and buy the current model. I do think ruff wear made vast improvement to this item.

Loved the jacket, but not a good fit for my dog

My Dobie girl is deep-chested, so the medium was perfect in length but too snug around her abdomen. I was told by the folks at Ruff Wear that the large is two inches longer. This will cover my girl's nub, which she doesn't like at all. But the product is great - the material is soft and keeps the dog warm, and it's elastic enough to accommodate movement.

I read your review and have a few questions for you. I have a Dobie too, a boy, and we just returned from our first climbing/camping trip with him along and I realized that I need to get him a coat as well. My dobie is about 90 pounds, so he is on the taller and all around larger side of average. Is your dobie girl around that size or smaller? I'm curious about the fit, as dobies by nature are deep chested. Did you find that this held water when it got wet? It rains a lot here and I wouldn't want to put him in a coat would just soak up the water. Thanks!

Lovin' his new jacket! Hes an American Bulldog, about 70 lbs, and a bit deep chested but the medium fits perfectly! It doesnt seem to bother him at all, and the sleeves really add to the jackets function by preventing movement during activity.

'Should fit. I have the Cloud Chaser jacket by Ruffwear that is probably an identical fit- the large fits my 90 lb Chesapeake, but the neck and arms were a bit tight. I cut off the binding around the neck and arms- and now a perfect fit. I also have the XL for her that I use for layering over a super lightweight spandex suit (K9 Topcoat). The XL is plenty big, long and loose- probably not the ideal fit alone, but good for layering if you're in a cold weather climate.

So perfect!

Super excited about this coat. Our Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is pretty psyched to sport it on cool morning walks and while camping on the coast. Fleece and construction is super high quality. Lichen green color is much nicer in person than in photos.
A little bit tough to get on a wiggly puppy but once on it's not going anywhere. I got the Medium. Because of the design, even though it's a bit big right now it'll be OK. Our RR will be big but slim and I think it'll fit him full grown too. It's definitely cut for athletic dogs (with a broad chest and/or deep ribcage) that are out moving - which I love. It's really hard to find "performance" gear for dogs but Ruffwear's got it nailed! Smokin' deal!

Good Quality

I adopted Lucky from Orlando, FL so while he loves the Wasatch Mountains he tends to get cold in the evening while backpacking in the High Uintas so we went with this jacket. The sizing is a little off. He is about 23.5" in girth, but the S is too big and I could tell right away that he wouldn't be able to do his business without peeing on it. We switched to the XS and while it is a teensy bit tight it keeps him nice and warm despite his tropical roots.

nice and warm

sizing is difficult, but the XS fits my 25# basenji well, just a little tight in the neck. the S was way too big, despite the measurements. It is warm and functional for the mountains. JH

great performance dog clothing

Dog is 40lb kelpie, the small fits best and snug is best on these items. great item for cold mornings that are not wet, easy to put on your dog as there is no tight head hole to go thur, just get the front legs in the leg holes and pull up and zip it up!

Great Jacket

Great coat! I have two hairless Chinese Cresteds, one powder puff and one Yorkie and these seem to work well. It its snug which prevents my males from urinating on it!! They all fit in the XXS. They measure 8", 12" and 14". No issues with rubbing hair off of the hairy ones and does rub the hairless ones raw. Overall for us, its money well spent. Polartec Fleece keeps me warm so I know that my dogs are warm.
