Royal Racing Chevron Short - Men's - 2008

Royal Racing Chevron Short - Men's - 2008 BCS

Item # RYL0013

Want a pair of MTB shorts that offer padding, storage space, and performance without looking like cut-off flak pants? Enter the Royal Men’s Chevron Shorts. Street-styled shorts over a padded liner short give you a casual look with crotch-saving comfort. You can kiss ride-up goodbye, thanks to the Chevron’s lower back stretch panel. The shorts’ nylon Taslan fabric is lightweight, breathable, and tough, and hook-and-loop hip adjustments let you find that perfect fit.

Bottom Line:

Low-key looks. High-end performance.

Made of noisy fabric

The main fabric in these shorts is sturdy looking, but it also makes crumpling noises when it moves. I have a feeling this will be annoying when riding the bike because it might be happening at every pedal stroke. But I'll find out..

There is no fly, instead the fly area is held together by a ton of velcro. The waist also gets held by velcro, as does the mini-belt/waist adjustment. Someone likes velcro. It's somewhat disturbing to open the front of your pants to a giant velcro tearing sound. The scratchy side of the velcro is on the outside of the waist fastener facing inwards, so if you aren't careful you can get it stuck to the liner or whatever you may be wearing under them. For lycra, being stuck to velcro can be damaging, so this is not really a smart way to orient the velcro. The velcro grabbed the liners the first time I tried taking them off.

The liner/pad is unimpressive but easily removable without cutting anything. Normal style pockets (no zipper/etc) on the front of the legs go all the way down and seem like a pretty bad idea unless you want to drop stuff or have it rattle around.

I would never suggest buying these at the suggested retail price.

It's lightweight, breathable and the waist can be adjusted to your perfect fit. It has a removable cycling shorts although you can wear any protective/undershorts of your choice. It has two front large storage spaces though filling it with stuffs makes pedaling uneasy so carrying a pack is much more comfy..and another small pouch like pocket with velcro enclosure that is located at the lower back portion of the right thighs. For me, the design is simple yet it has a little bit of race inspired cut & details...Lastly, i think its tough.

Cheap junk

Feels cheap and thin... Looks OK. Shell tore after 5 or 6 days. Liner is baggy and the pad bunches up, worse than nothing.
