A talented climber, Rab Carrington spent much of the 1970s on ground-breaking expeditions around the world. In doing so, he gained a first-hand understanding of what climbers needed from their gear, particularly in extreme conditions. He founded Rab in 1981 to combine this knowledge with the skills he had acquired in making sleeping bags for fellow climbers while in South America.
