Pearl Izumi Elite Softshell Jacket - Men's

Item # PLZ0755

Pearl Izumi introduced the Elite Softshell Jacket to tame the most chilling training rides. The Elite is lined with Thermal Fleece panels for optimal warmth and moisture transfer, while the outer shell blocks the wind and wet. The Elite Softshell also features contoured shaped sleeves that are plenty long so your buddy won\222t tease you about wearing a jacket two sizes too small.

  • Reflective material keeps you visible to motorists in low-light
  • Full length internal draft flap with zipper garage seals out the elements
  • Tapered collar designed for in-the-saddle ergonomics

Bottom Line:

Find yourself riding more.

Totally wind and waterproof. Caught in unexpected heavy rain in 45 degree weather with 15-20 mph winds, and developed my first ever flat had to walk last 1/2 mile. While the rest of me was soaked and my legs hands and toes were going numb, my torso was unbelievably and most thankfully dry and toasty. Fit perhaps 1/2 size larger than what I expected, but I wear only a skin tight baselayer, and figure I'll probably gain a few upper body pounds back during winter anyway. Highly recommend.

I'd like to get a medium softshell jacket. my chest is 100

I'd like to get a medium softshell jacket. my chest is 100 cm but i have long arms (60-62 cm from top of shoulder to wrist)... do you have an equivalent measurement for medium and large (in case medium doesn't work). thanks

This jacket runs real true to size. You're probably a large though.

Year round cycling

By:
December 2, 2011

I just started using this jacket over the past couple weeks and I love it. Started riding in the 40s with it and with a sleeveless base layer it worked great. Today was in the low
30s when I left and with a long sleeve baselayer it kept me very warm. Blocks the wind great and my only complaint would be that the back pocket can be a little hard to reach into while riding. Besides that it's one of my favorite pieces of gear I've ever owned.

Nice softshell

I'm 5'11" and 275 (losing weight via cycling) and the XXL is snug, but not overly so. It's only been cold enough to justify once this season (52F) versus compression base layers or arm warmers and it's been a great jacket. Very wind resistant as it was super breezy but my torso wouldn't have ever known it. My guess is with proper base layers, a neck gaiter, and a good stocking cap I'll be able to ride well into the winter on good weather days.
The pockets make sense and I like the cut of cycling jackets (long in the back). Because of the cycling cut I don't know that I'd wear it around town. I picked it up in white/black (I've been a ninja cyclist for the year I've been cycling). My lady saw me in it and didn't know who I was as I never wear white and its snugness definitely shows off my relative lost weight.

Great Jacket for Cold-Weather Commuter

By:
December 7, 2010

I generally love Pearl Izumi products, and this jacket is no exception. I compared it to the more expensive Gore jacket that a local salesperson recommended; they stack up about the same; plus, the PI jacket is way cooler looking.

I live in the Mid-Atlantic region, and have a short (4 mile one way) commute over trails and streets (25-45 degree weather). This jacket, with a long sleeved base layer keeps me nice and toasty, but not too sweaty when I arrive at work. I highly recommend this jacket.

Great Jacket!

Used this jacket in about 30-40 degree NJ weather; it does a very good job of blocking wind. After an hour of riding i was, in fact, too warm and had to remove a layer. I have yet to ride in colder temperatures but i am convinced this jacket will keep me warm.

It is very comfortable, and I really appreciate the length of the sleeves, and the extra length in the back. The front pocket is very convenient for storing energy bars or gels...easy reach.
