Pull on the Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T Fleece for a chilly fall afternoon in town, or layer it under a hardshell during a frigid morning on the ski hill. This classic fleece goes back to the first days of Patagonia. The four-snap placket opens easily to cool you off while you're walking around downtown. A relaxed fit makes it easy to layer a sweater under the Synchilla Snap-T.
Bottom Line:
Add the Patagonia Synchilla Snap-T to your closet and it'll be keeping you warm for ages.
i have like 2 of em. they can be a little short length wise on the arms as well as wide and short on the mid section. i got my friend to bring em in, because the design is just soooo rad!
Yeah I'll definately agree about the sizing issue. Shorter than i'd want and wide in the shoulders. For those of us who ARENT body builders, do yourself a favor and take em to a tailor. HOWEVER... Some of the SOFTEST fleece EVER!

I've got one of these fleeces and love it. However, it seems to pick up everything. My dog sheds and I can't seem to get his hair off this fleece no matter how many times I wash it or lint roll it. Any suggestions?
Make sure to use dryer sheets to cut down on static cling. Apart from that, not much you can do about it, although buying a new lint roller could help too...
Get that classic Patagonia fleece with the Snap-T fleece. This is just a simple fleece pullover but that is why it is so perfect. The size runs baggy. I'm 6'2" 210 went with an XL and it is a big baggy in the sleeves with a perfect length.
I have no idea what Synchilla means, but I know that Chinchillas are very cute and very soft and probably comfortable all the time in their cozy little coat, so I'm pretty sure this is a play on their name cause holy buckets! This has got to be the most comfortable fleece I've ever worn! It looks great, it is soft, it is warm, it is perfect! Almost.... It is a little short, but to be honest I don't even care one bit for how nice the rest of the thing is. I wear medium in most 'gucci, but this has that casual/relaxed fit so I went small cause I didn't want to be swimming in it. My brother got a medium, and I suppose I could wear his if I needed to but I'm very happy with my small (I'm six feet zero inches and 150lbs) I won't be taking this on trail, it definitely isn't that sort of piece, but for lounging around the house, growing your mustache, impressing girls with your style, chasing your dog down the street and drinking coffee or beer this is the perfect garment.
I bought this last year because my cousin recommended it to me and I have been pretty pleased with it. The fleece is soft, warm, and comfy, and the jacket is stylish. The only complaint I have is the super roomy fit. I am 6'0" 140 lbs and the small is too roomy to fit under any of my other jackets. For this reason, I have never used it for anything other than everyday casual wear. That being said, I really love this fleece for that purpose.
This thing is huge....I'm 5'9" 185 and a large fit me like a tent.. Almost a foot of material across my beer gut, and the shoulders dropped across to my biceps. Otherwise typical Patagucci quality. I was looking forward to washing it and getting it to soften up in the dryer will have to try for a smaller size now.
Would this be worn as just a pullover that you would wash after
Would this be worn as just a pullover that you would wash after every time you wear it or would it be used on an everyday basis. Reason being, I need a new jacket and was hoping everyone used it as an everyday jacket.
Hi there, thanks for the question. This is definitely a great every day piece and does NOT need to be washed every time you wear it. I'm sure there are some who have never washed their Snap T after years and years of wearing it and it looks just fine. Hope that helps!
This is the classic. It's the iconic Patagonia piece that the company will make, presumably, as long as we both shall live. It is a comfortable piece of home that will never go out of style. Other "high fashion" companies have copied it and charged ridiculous prices (saw one for $185 that was a dead-ringer for the original) but Patagonia's remains the classic. Very warm, very comfortable and something that stays in use year after year. PatagoniaCommunity.blogspot.com
Great cottage fleece. I wear an XL in all patagonia tops (i am 6'4") and this one runs a bit on the baggie side, similar to the Retro-X jacket's cut. nice warm comfortable fleece. If you are looking for a fitted cut this is not what you want. I got it for cold nights on the beach around the campfire. Solid fleece, expect to get good wear out of it.
The Synchilla Snap-T was my first piece of Patagonia wear and I will never be without one of these again! They look great and are exceptionally warm, not to mention they can take an incredible beating. I wear mine while fly-fishing, climbing, hiking, and camping and it still looks fresh out of the box. Works great for layering too. IF you dont have one of these for your fall/winter wardrobe, get one!
Anybody have any problems with this material shedding on everything?
Anybody have any problems with this material shedding on everything? It's driving me crazy and I don't know if I got a bad batch or not. Gave my wife a hug before heading to work and her black shirt was covered in fuzz. The strap on my Osprey just sweeps the fuzz off in balls, and everything I lean up against or touch, or sit on that's fabric or slightly abrasive is left with fuzz all over it. Did anyone else have this problem at first? I put it in the dryer when I got it home and I've sticky lint rolled it but to no avail. Any help? Not sure if it's possible to get a bad batch of fabric since theyr'e using recycled stuff. Help!?
Awesome. It's a great fleece, but in all my other fleeces i've never had the shedding issue. I think everything else I have is polartec or a copy thereof. The synchilla fabric is similar but different.
Blaine, The shedding problem you're having is only because it's a brand new fleece. Not to worry - it's not a bad batch, or a bad jacket. Wash it once and wear it a few more times and the shedding should mellow out right away.
I've had one of these since 1986 in turquoise and it STILL rocks! The 300 weight only gets better looking with wash and wear. My original has been high and low, in surf, sand, and snow, it is awesome. I had to get another...the fleece is way soft but I agree the cut has changed and the fit a bit roomy.
This is a heavy fleece jacket that can perform as your only layer in the winter and has a great retro look. You would never think something so stylish would provide you with such warmth! For this reason its a must buy, i love the thing!
My 19 year old son wanted this Patagonia pullover jacket. The photo appeared to be an icey blue with a salmon trim. He picked this one due to the colors. When it arrived it was icey blue, but clearly had red trim. We kept the jacket, he loves it, but not the color we thought.
Is there anyway to get one in Elm Green anymore? I've searched
Is there anyway to get one in Elm Green anymore? I've searched everywhere (even Ebay) and can't find one. This site is the only one that even lists Elm as a color anymore...
I would try calling one of the Patagonia Outlet stores. You can find their numbers here: http://www.patagonia.com/web/us/store-locator Also, Real Cheap Sports in Ventura, CA has a good selection of past-season goods. They will take phone orders and ship to you. I know it's tough when you find a color you like and you don't know if the company will ever make it again (though Patagonia often does similar colors with different names!). Hope this helps! PatagoniaCommunity.blogspot.com
Unfortunately Elm Green has come and gone as a colorway for the Snap-T and it might be tough to track one down anywhere. Keep an eye out for new colors coming in soon here though...
My 16 year old daughter now wears my wife's snap T that she got in 1988. Her friends in high school think 'its a really cool wool sweater'. In wacko '80's colors. We tried to explain... Still looks great.
I've had an orange one for over a decade and its still great, wears like iron; just wear it under a shell if there is cold wind. cut is on the large size if you're skinny like me...
Yes, this is a classic, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't demand more from it. For me this is a comfy, cozy layer when you don't feel like wearing a sweatshirt. If there is any sort of breeze you are trying to avoid, this is not the jacket - even a whisper will cut right through this layer. But again it can be warm in the right conditions is always soft and has been durable (12 years) for me.
I have seen so many different color representations......are
I have seen so many different color representations......are the colors on this site more accurate to real, or ar the ones on the actual patagonia site better?
The colors are really varied depending on where you look. I have seen friends and different people all over with different whacky color combinations. I think if you look hard enough you can find almost any color you want. I have a feeling Patagonia released these at different times in different colors. Try urban outfitters, they had some different colors i had never seen before.
i have 2 of these, about 5 years old each. i have one that i always work in, and one for jaunts around town. i love it more than any other jacket i wear in the winter. if i can find an elm green in a medium i'll have three.
I got two jackets for my husband and thought that he would pick one of his favorite color and return the other. But he loves them and wants to keep them both. They look nice and warm. Love it! Highly recommended.
Received the Synchilla fleece for Christmas and am absolutely in love. I'm a 5'9 girl who usually wears between a women's medium/large. I got the men's snap-t in a size small (hate how women's jackets are so snug fitting!) and it fits perfectly! Great jacket. I've practically been living in it since I received it. Very soft, cozy, and casual, great thrown over a tshirt and jeans!
This is an awesome pullover. It's a very stylish fleece for casual wear and also performs great on the trail. It has a baggy fit, but I actually like it that way. In the winter I wear a sweater or light down jacket underneath for added warmth, and in fall/spring I wear it over a t-shirt and the baggy fit lets air circulate to keep me from overheating. This fleece is also pretty durable - I've worn it doing woodlot work in the winter. This is simply a great all-around fleece that I find myself wearing time and time again.
Great jacket, super soft, but the extra large is a little too roomy! Would like to order the large, only you don't have it in stock. We'll wait and see when you get them in, they're worth waiting for!
Great fleece from a great company. The Snap-T will keep you toasty as long as you're not battling the wind. The Blueblack color looks great with almost anything. The only gripe I could possibly come up with is the roomy fit. It is slightly larger than other Patagonia Small products.
