Patagonia Stretch Velocity Zip-Neck Jacket - Men's

Item # PAT1314

Patagonia designed the versatile Men's Power Stretch Zip-Neck Jacket to function both as a base layer for skiing or mountaineering, and as a pullover for cold-weather running or cross-country skiing. The stretchy fleece gives you full mobility with next-to-skin comfort no matter where you use it. The quarter zip allows heat to escape on sweaty hill climbs, and the fleece's smooth face slides easily under layers.

Bottom Line:

Stretchy and warm, for of all your winter pursuits.

My favorite Mid-Layer

By:
July 13, 2010

Absolutely fantastic performance layer. I wear it as an outer layer for climbing in the spring and fall, and as a mid-layer during the winter. Comfortable, warm, breathes great, and, as others have said, perfectly tailored fit if you're a tall and athletic build.

Overall, Great! Pilling Issue. . .

By:
October 29, 2008

This is a great performance layer made by Patagonia. What makes me the most giddy is the fit-I'm about 6'3" and lean and it like someone measured me out for this shirt. It's perfect, not too tight, but has an athletic fit.
Nonetheless, I took it travelling recently and the underarm started to "Pill Up" after a few days of wearing my pack. I returned home and washed it and there are other signs of pilling as well, so that seems dissappointing after dropping $100, but I don't think it will affect performance and I'm gonna keep it.

Great Pullover!

By:
February 28, 2010

picked this piece on S&C at a discousn and am very pleased with it. 6'2" 210lbs athletic build and the XL fits perfect. nice long front zipper allows the ability to dump heat as you deem fit. Nice brushed inside for comfort. Somewhat windproof. No pilling seen after extensive use. On the longer side, but its not a downfall whatsoever.

Awesome pullover

By:
January 26, 2010

Comparing this to the Arc'teryx Rho AR Top, I like this one better: The style is a bit better and the sleeves are a bit longer as well. I am 6'3" - 174lbs and the medium fits perfectly.
The picture of the black one doesn't give it justice, indeed it looks much nicer once you wear it.
Also it is warm and very stretchy which makes it a perfect midlayer. But wearing as a regular sweater is good too.

So nice I got 2

By:
January 10, 2010

I got this on sale for about $60.00 but I would pay full price. I'm 6'2" 160 lb. = lanky and I got a size Large. It fits like a dream. The stretch material is super comfortable and looks awesome. The interior is fleece and is awesome for warmth. It feels really breathable so it is perfect for winter layering and shoulder seasons. Looks delicate and will probably end up piling eventually, but what doesn't eventually pill up - that's why I bought 2 of em.I can not take this thing off, so I'm glad my second one is on the way, so I can be sure to have something to wear while the other one is in the wash. I agree that pockets would make this pwnage - but if you really like it Patagonia has a full-zip version which I believe has hand pockets. And there is a hooded version for womens which makes me jealous..

Trim Fit and Stylish

By:
November 8, 2009

What I love about this thing is its warm, articulates beautifully, is stylish, and is form fitting but not overly. I love it as a midlayer because its close to my body and I don't have to worry about bulk, but its not overly tight that it affects my baselayer.

The only problem is it is pilling a little at the hips. Not much, but a little. Overall, it's one of my favorite pieces whether on the trail or at the bar.

Great for tall guys

By:
October 18, 2009

Got this thing on s&c for next to nothing. One of my favorite purchases ever. I'm wearing it right now. I'm 6'4", 175, with huge gangly spider arms, and the large fits excellent, with great range of motion. Warm, stretchy, and (i'm told) stylish (I have all the fashion sense of a mossy rock). I lounge around the house, hike, climb, and hit up the bar in this thing. Zipper/Chin guard works great. No pockets... One chest pocket would have been nice. Also, great layering, the trim fit and smooth material make it comfortable under a shell. Couldn't be happier with it.

Note on the "pilling" issue- I've only had it about 6 months, but have yet to notice any pilling.
