Patagonia Rain Shadow Pant - Men's
Dark, evil clouds are brewing on the horizon—pull the eleven-ounce Patagonia Men’s Rain Shadow Pant out of your pack and prepare your lower half for the meteorological onslaught. The ultralight nylon shell, taped seams, and H2No waterproof breathable barrier seal you off against mountain tempests, and on the inside, a textured lining helps channel moisture away from your skin. Patagonia added separating, full-length side zips for quick venting and easy on-and-off while wearing your hiking pants.

Along with the Patagonia Houdini Jacket the Rain Shadow Pant is another piece of essential gear I always throw in my pack when heading into unpredictable conditions in the mountains. Waterproof and windproof they are still fairly breathable; nice additional layer to have when conditions turn nasty. I know they've really saved my bacon more than a few times!

Pants fit great. 5'9 170lbs 33 in waist. Waterproof. Durable. Side zips are the bomb for putting on over boots and for taking off. Like bball tear aways with a zipper.

The old rain shadow pants are awesome, still wearing them from 2007 and average 100-200 days a year in the field backpacking for work. The material is waterproof. I have got slightly damp from perspiration when hiking hard (but I am very warm blooded and sweat alot and easily), this internal wetness has dried out while in camp and not hiking from body heat. They are now 3oz heavier with the full side zip, which some will see as a plus(sidezips) and some as a negative(wt). Note that backcountry.com states they have 4 pockets, and I'm pretty sure they still have none.
