Osprey Packs Quasar Pack - 1800cu in - 2010 BCS

Item # OSP0202

With key features like a blinker light attachment and headphone routing port, the Quasar Pack brings Osprey's reputation for solid construction, fit, and function to your day hikes and urban commutes. Internal organization keeps your electronics away from your lunch and away from your workout clothes, while Spacer Mesh on the straps and an Airscape ridged back panel lifts the pack off your skin for better airflow.

  • Padded sleeves for your laptop and documents
  • Media pocket with headphone port for public-transit tuneage
  • Key clip to hold your house/car keys
  • Stretch woven side pockets for water bottles or shades

Bottom Line:

Don't just carry a daypack. Carry an Osprey.

Room To Spare....

By:
April 5, 2012

Like the extra pocket on the front of my NEW Quasar Pack, don't miss the mesh which was on my Ouantum, I don't miss the 1/2"in the main compartment that I gave up,still packing all that I need with room to spare in my NEW Quasar. Both are great backpacks. Wish Osprey would get rid of the elastic bands on the right shoulder harness strap (they stretch out shape)and go with what they have on the left shoulder harness(Nylon Cloth)on both sides..

This one should hold a 15.6" laptop but it would be a tight fit.

Every day useability

By:
November 30, 2011

I've had this bag about a year now and have no complaints whatsoever about it. I use it primarily as an every day bag between work and school. It somehow holds my 17" MacBook Pro in the laptop compartment as well as a couple books and papers without any problems. I also really like how this bag has a harness, which makes it perfect for use while riding a bike or a motorcycle.

It isn't totally waterproof by any means so that is one downside. Also, while I have used it for shorter dayhikes, I normally will use another bag for that purpose as this isn't by any means the best hiking daypack out there. Anyway, another fantastic entry from Osprey.

Is this a good school back pack. I am prabably going to be carrying at least 1, maybe 2, textbooks at once and probably 2 or more binders. Is this pack big enough? And i am around 5'5" or 5'6" so would this pack fit me?

Are these large binders? Two textbooks shouldn't be a problem, but tossing a bunch of 3" binders in there is going to eat up space quickly. If it's big enough for your needs, it'll be the baddest backpack at school.

Great versatile bag

By:
July 26, 2011

I bought this as my primary laptop bag to and from work and as a sometimes daypack. I have zero complaints when packing it with lunch, my laptop, water bottle, and some gym clothes. It's light and comfortable to wear.

As far as the day hiking goes there are definitely better bags out there but this still worked fine. It's construction is sturdy but I'm not sold on the laptop sleeve as a spot for the hydration bladder, though it works. Other than that I don't really have complaints.

I think that if you want a bag that fits 2 roles then this bag will be just fine.

Great Pack

By:
November 19, 2010

I've had this for about a week now. I currently use it for school in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and love it. It carries as much as I need, yet securely and snugly, whether I am walking or biking to class. The laptop poscket is nice, and the adjustable straps makes the fit just great. Well worth it.

I have a Talon 22 that I run with and thoroughly enjoy. I would like a computer friendly pack that I could run, walk and bike with. Will this one work?

This would be a good back for that. If you need to carry a lot of other items like notebooks, textbooks, etc. you could consider a larger pack like the quantum but this should work fine for you. Do note that the hip belt is not as substantial as that on the talon (potentially important for running).

I agree with Dwayne above. HOWEVER, there is no protective laptop sleeve in the Talon 22 (not designed for that). But, what I do when I use my Talon 22 for a laptop is throw the coputer in a neoprene sleeve. My favorite is made by Built Designs. Check out the dimentions and make sure its right before you buy one, but they are great.

It will as long as your Laptop is smaller than about 15 inches. To be on the safe side, I would look at a rain proof cover, as a heavy downpour will surely eventually soak through a bit, no sense losing your lappy to some outdoor wet fun

No. You would need a larger pack to carry a larger laptop like that. This pack should fit any laptop up to around 15 inches.

Does this pack's laptop sleeve also hold a bladder and have a port for the tube?

Yes, but the port for headphones/water is in the center of the top of the pack, which can make routing the cable a little tricky.

Yes, the sleeve is for a laptop or bladder. The port doubles as a hydration tube pass through or a headphone pass through for the interior mp3 pocket.
