Osprey’s Axis Daypack comes with 1100 cubic inches of space for you to tote your favorite gear. Take it for an out-and-back hike and carry your water bottle, a few extra layers, and an afternoon snack. Throw it on your back for your next bike commute and clip your blinker light to the back attachment strap. And don’t forget to wire your tunes from the MP3 pocket through ear bud routing system so that you can whistle while you play.
Slotted EVA foam harness feels comfortable on shoulders, and mesh lining allows air to circulate
Spacer mesh back panel lets the air flow so your back stays cool, not swampy
Waist strap keeps the pack from shifting while you’re moving
The perfect day pack for a day out, whether it be on the trail or in the city. It is supremely comfortable and although not large, it can hold a bunch of stuff.
Needed a small bag to carry stuff from the grocery store or just a day out. I use it for packing a light jacket, a water bottle, a change of clothes if need be.
Pretty sweet so far for my needs. I had a camelbak daywalker that came w/a water reservoir too for the same size and I thought that was slightly more convenient. But so far so good w/this Osprey...this is in addition to an Atmos that I already have. Love Osprey quality products.
This bag has a pocket that will hold either a laptop or a reservoir. There is also a port at the top of the pack that you can feed either headphones or a hydration tube through. So yes, this pack will work with a reservoir.
The perfect lil pack for a perfect lil day trip. Enough room for my iPad, a change of clothes, a snack, some hydration -- with a tad to spare. I also like the draw cord and hoop on the outside in the event I need a bit more help to create a true gypsy pack. Support straps to boot. Comfy, light, and slick. GO OSPREY and GO S&C!
It has pretty cool price and is comfortable for the back in summer. The sweat of my back and shoulder does not make me displeasure because of meshed shoulder string and mesh-cushion mixed back panel. It has also two compartments for notebook and paper. I uses it as commute-bag that contains 13 inch notebook, letter size some papers, 1 liter water bottle and miscellaneous articles.
Im looking for a moderately small back pack to keep my climbing
Im looking for a moderately small back pack to keep my climbing equipment in. I go back and forth from the gym alot, and right now Im carrying my harness, shoes, and chank bag in my hands. I love Osprey's packs, and i was really hoping to pick up one for a good price. So far the axis pack looks perfect. Id also use this pack at the crag and on short hikes.

Yes, there are stretchy side pockets that you can put a smaller water bottle in. You won't be able to fit a 32oz nalgene or similar, but you can carry bottles.
I was just on the Osprey website and they have a picture that shows a water bottle tucked into the side pocket. I'm thinking that might be a stretch if you fill your pack up as much as I do with gear, but it should be fine otherwise.
You should have no problem fitting a DSLR like that one in here but you might consider getting a dedicated photography backpack as that will have padded compartments for the lenses and other accessories along with the camera body.
Yes it will. 1100cu in is definitely big enough for a big SLR and telephoto lense. Depending on how long, but is should be fine with 7-30. I use a BD pack about the same size and it carries my Canon T2i and telephoto with room for lots more.
