The Oakley Men's Puffy Down Jacket is stuffed with cool stuff. It's designed for lighting up the mountain. The Puff looks super slick thanks to its shiny two-layer polyester fabric and unique baffling pattern. The baffles hide the pockets as well, so you can stash your stashables without worry. 550-fill goose down insulates, so you can shred when the thermometer barely shows any red. Shoulder vents let you chill as your session heats up. A removable hood and removable storm skirt protect from flying flakes.
i was just wondering what temperature is it rated for with out any layers because i just order a Burton collection puffy jacket 200 therma insulation and I'm still cold in the mid 30s. This one is 550 goose fill and i know goose feathers are really warm
This is a bomb coat!! The down feel and look is tight and it cools off quick with the slightly more forward chest/pit vents! The magnets in the jacket that are by the zippers are way sick! I HAVE HAD NO PROBLEM REGARDING ELECTRONICS OR CARDS BEING RUINED OR AFFECTED BY THESE MAGNETS and ive had the coat for a month now. The coat makes the snow and water bead up and roll of pretty legit!
This jacket is sick. Really warm and super soft and comfy on the inside. The magnetic closures are really sweet instead of velcro getting caught on everything. I also like how the vents are on the front a little bit rather than the pits. You'd think pits would make more sense, but no air flow gets in there. Also, the thumb holes in the sleeves are nice for warmth, and the chest pocket is huge. Big enough for a hat and gloves or goggles. There is also a key holder and a pouch built in that you can stuff the entire jacket into the size of a tissue box.
This jacket is very warm. It is very puffy. It is very durable. The 15k waterproof seems accurate.
I owned some other Oakley puffy jackets before and their collar always fit way too tight. This is NOT the case with this jacket. This jacket has a great fit to it.
My ONLY complaint is that Oakley decided to use magnets throughout the front of the jacket in order to keep the storm flap closed. This seems cool at first, but I am 90% sure these same magnets ruined my phone. Now I am scared to take electronics with me (camera, helmet camera, phone, ipod) when I am using this jacket, for fear of magnetization.
I have to agree on the magnets: cool idea, but it effected my hotel and lift passes in a matter of half an hour to the extent that it could not function anymore. Velcro would have done a better job. Otherwise it's a really good jacket.
Just skied nipple deep pow in this jacket. Works great stayed dry, warm and I looked super steezy all the while. Runs really big though. Had to send the large back for a medium. Of course the guys at backcountry make it really easy to do that though.
How warm is this? is it like a north face down jacket where i
How warm is this? is it like a north face down jacket where i will only need a t shirt under it for cold cold skiing weather. or will i need a layer or two?
AND i am 5' 11'' 190lbs. what size should i get if i want it to fit pretty baggy?
I'm 6'0" 165lbs with an athletic build. I ordered a large originally like all my other winter jackets so I'd have plenty of room to layer. The thing was massive and it didn't look good. I exchanged it for a medium and now I'm considering trying again with the small. My arms are long as well, but the sleeves on the medium still go all the way to my knuckles. It's also so big around the middle on me that the fabric pleats in the back. The features and the jacket are awesome (though I do worry about the magnets wiping credit cards and whatever else) but they are serious when they say it's a "loose fit."
whats up, I just bought this jacket the other day. the jacket is sick, They definitely run big, Im actually the exact same hight and weight as you and I got the XL cuz every jacket I own is XL but it was way to big for me so I exchanged it for a L. waiting on it now but it should be good. I wouldnt go med, cuz I have long arms and i would bet a mediums arms would be to small. the jacket is pretty warm. I wouldnts say its as warm as a Northface down, id say for layers id wear an underarmor and maybe another thin layer and thats on rediculously cold day. good luck
im 6' 150 lbs and i got a small that fits well, but a little baggy with no layers underneath. this jacket has tons of features. chest vents are a great idea and they work much better than pit vents for cooling. there are also tons of pockets to stash all your stuff. supposedly this jacket can stuff into one of its own pockets, but i tried and its pretty tough. overall a great jacket and worth the low steep and cheap price.
Warm and not so puffy. Great fit around the neck area, and body. Overall a good buy for the price (got it on sale for $92:-) Now let's see how it stands up to cold, wet weather? I'm sure it will ;)
