I've used it all year now and finally can leave a comprehensive review. Jacket fits true to size in my opinion. I typically get the large size for shells, and this one fits the bill (6'1ish 175lbs). It's perfect for fitting some extra layers underneath for the wisconsin winters here. In summer when using it as a rain shell it doesn't look like it hangs off you either, especially with the will placed adjustible elastic. The arms are great length, and the velcro cuffs have great spacing to be used with gloves or no gloves, and not look loose. The hood and neck are perfect for the windy/snowy days when you want to tuck your face down out of the weather. Zipped up, it will reach your nose, and the hood can be pulled down to your eyes. With ski googles on, it makes sitting on the lifts a lot more enjoyable than taking the snow on your face and neck. I haven't seen any water make it through the seems, and have put it through the paces in winter and summer. It doubles as a great paddling jacket on the water too. Norrona really knows how to make some great gear, and when you are finally willing to lay down the money, you can rest easily knowing you made a great buy that you will likely use as your go to jacket for years.
According to the tests that Gore puts forward, dri3 is less breathable than GoreTex. Neither will come close to eVENT in breathability, because they're not air-permeable. Try eVENT, you won't be dissapointed.
Very happy with this jacket. I am 6'3" 185 lbs with a 42 long jacket size. American brands are too roomy in the chest, even the athletic fits such as arcteryx. Size L fits me perfectly even though I have long arms and torso. Tight construction. Performed extraordinarily well in late winter skiing. Bullet proof in 50 mph driving winds and snow and breaths like crazy. Only complaint is that hood slightly too small for ski helmet. Otherwise A+.
Being a true hardshell, this jacket has no insulatory properties. It is made to fit true, so if you are considering layering underneath a size up might be preferable. I usually wear a mens M and went with a large and this jacket works perfect! Even if you aren't layering underneath it offers elastic fitting cuffs both at the bottom of the jacket as well as along the midsection of the back for a tighter adjustable fit. The hood is very dynamic and functions well with or without a helmet! The waterproofing is fantastic and the pit-zips are more than sufficient to shed that extra body heat! This fabric may, however, need to be waterproofed semi-frequently, I have noticed along the cuffs that water does not always bead any longer, which is expected. The only complaint I would have is that the colors are VERY BRIGHT, and if you want to stand out in a crowd, or just be sure to be spotted on the mountin then this is perfect for you!
Check out norrona's warranty on their website. They cover the jacket for 5 years from manufacture defects and will either repair or replace the jacket at their discretion. Just another reason to go with an awesome company.
After 6 months of ownership the overall quality of the jacket remains quite well with one single complaint. The wire frame supporting the hood tore through and is protruding. I do not know if this is a common tear, but wanted to note it

Medium or Large? I've read through the comments and I can't decide whether or not I am a med. or large. I am 5'10 & 195. I will definitely layer up underneath with at least a first layer, t-shirt and fleece. Possibly even a micro puff when super cold.
I have traveled to Norway many times to hike and ski and Norrona is the main outdoor brand that is worn there. I always wanted a jacket and I finally bought this jacket a few weeks ago. So far I have worn it in a rain storm hiking on the coast and I also took it to the mountains hiking in the snow and rain. It did awsome!! I did not get wet at all and it breaths very well. It is very light weight and you can easily put a fleece on underneath it for warmth. I have also received a few positive comments on the jacket color. Diva Blue
This jacket is very good, nothing to complain about. I haven't been able to test it out under a downpour yet, but so far, it appeared to be waterproof and breathable as stated. I like that it's very light and packs small. The hood is VERY well designed and the longer cuffs are a plus for me (meaning the velcro on the sleeves are not at the end of the sleeves, but there's extra fabric that cover the top of your hand). Also, the blue color is really nice and I keep on getting complimented for it. I guess the sizing is made for tall Finnish dudes or something! I am 5'7 and 150lbs and the small fits fine, just a little tad long, but if you are shorter then the small might too big. A friend of mine who is a little shorter couldn't fit the small Trollveggen as it was too long, and went with a small Arc'Teryx Stingray instead.
The jacket is great. I've used it for a few ski days in Austrian alps. Beware that you need layers since the jacket is not insulated and it is not roomy. It is for sure tru to fit. Outstanding waterproof and wind stopper.
Norrøna is Norwegian brand, one of the biggest in Norway and definitely the biggest/best on outdoor clothing. And at this price, you can't get it for in norway!
This is a shell jacket which means it is not insulated. The jacket, like most others in the same category, are designed to work as an outer barrier shedding water, snow and wind. In short: this is an all year /all weather jacket. I love the versatility this kind of jacket offers. I can add or remove layers according to temperature and the jacket itself protects from the elements.
I use a size large when buying form arcteryx, TNF, marmot an also when using my trollveggen jacket. When it comes to fit I would not call it roomy. The jacket is cut to be used for climbing. This means you won't find any excess fabric anyywhera as this will hinder sight downwards/upwards when hanging in the wall or being in the way when reaching for the right tool. A tighter fitting jacket will also improve breathability since the fabric will be closer to the body thus creating a bigger difference in temperature alloving more moisture to escape.
