Nice looking and great for all seasons

Contrary to one of the reviews, the fit is very flattering (Size Small in Purple Rain color).

The colorful design and sleek cut as pictured are what caught my attention to this jacket. It turns out just as what I expected. This jacket would be perfect as an outer jacket when it's windy and wet in spring/fall or as a mid layer in winter.

Also as expecting from Norrona, solid quality and craftsmanship.

Not flattering at all

I got this on SAC and was super disappointed. The sleeves are HUGE even when velcroed down (as in the picture), it is boxy and unflattering and the green is a little brighter than expected. If the armpit zips are open they flare out on the sides making you look even more rediculous (there is no mesh underneath to provide structure). Also the fabric is thinner than expected and I dont know how much warmth the jacket could resonably provide. Needless to say I returned the jacket.

Just tried this on at the backcountry store

I just tried this jacket on at the Backcountry store and wanted to give a heads up that I think it runs big. I usually wear a medium in tops and jackets - definitely a medium in Arcteryx, for example, but in this jacket a small was generous. Really nice, pretty light weight.

Anne,

How would the Svalbard be as a wind shell?

worth the money!

The jacket is a little brighter green than I was expecting, but I still love it. It works great as an under layer when it's super cold outside. It keeps the wind out, but it's not really warm because of how thin it is. The fabric is good quality though. I ordered a large because I wanted to layer a lot, and it fits just like a large would. I normally wear a medium. The sleeves are long, the length is great; it's a little longer in the back and overall hits at mid hip. The collar is fairly high so I don't need a scarf or anything to keep the chill out when it's zipped up. I also like how it's soft under my chin. The lining is nice. I think it'd be great with a long sleeve shirt under for not too cold days, hiking, light rains etc. I wouldn't mind having another in a different color.

Nice for the price

Purchased this for my wife. It is a very complementing cut for females. Got the green which resembles a Kermit the Frog green which brightens the day if it is cloudy. She loves it and says it is very comfotable. The reason I gave it 4/5 is the price. Other companies offer good competative pricing. I purchased this on sale, but it is made in China like many other companies products. I find Norrona to be pricey, understandable if it was made in Norway, but not the case with this piece of gear. The Lifetime warranty is a plus though. It also has no liner, such as polartech, etc. Overall, my wife is very pleased with it.
