Great Pants

By:
February 1, 2012

These shell pants are a pretty great product. They breathe EXTREMELY well (for a shell). You will still overheat if you work too hard, although the side vents do a good job at well, venting; however, feeling clammy is very hard to accomplish in these pants. Have not yet been able to test durability, although they look pretty solid.

My only qualm with these pants is that the bottoms are cut for ski boots or fat mountain boots, which I expected, however there is no velcro or elastic method to cinch it down. So, when using regular hiking boots they are pretty saggy at the bottom. Thankfully does not impede functionality all too much, but does make an annoying sound.

Overall, pretty good. DryQ is an amazing step forward.

Can anyone tell me about the mens Insulated Returnia Pant: 1)

Can anyone tell me about the mens Insulated Returnia Pant:

1) How many pockets and their location? Description says 2 hand and 1 right thigh, but I see what looks like 4 zip toggles on the outside.
2) Where are the vents? Inseam or outside thigh? Are the vents protected by mesh to reduce snow entry?
3) Are there attachments for the back of a MH jacket e.g. Snowtastic, Vertical Peak, to keep it riding up and letting in snow?

No mesh on the vents, but that's a preference thing. The problem with most mesh lined vents is that they snag. No mesh = no snag. Personally I only keep vents open when I'm going up or once I'm at the bottom, so the risk of snow getting in is pretty minimal.

Just found out the vents have no mesh, just an opening.

Puts up with the abuse!

By:
February 4, 2012

These pants have been through the wringer this season. My AT and touring set up haven't made a single mark on these pants. They have great movement, protection from H2O and breathability. My buddies wanted me to go with a more expensive pant, but why should you when you get everything for a ton cheaper?

Are these insulated. Or are they just a shell.

John. This particular pant is a two-layer shell. We do make an insulated version of this pant with 80grams of Thermic Micro. I hope this info helps!

Waterproof Rating is inaccurate

By:

Inaccurate waterproof rating. I talked to a MH rep and only the Dry Q Elite has the 40k mm WP rating.

That is correct. I'll see what I can do to get these numbers adjusted. The correct rating would be closer to 20,000mm for DryQ Core and this particular fabric. Thanks for the catch!
