Whether you are being caressed by a zephyr, buffeted by a chinook, or blasted by a brisote, you’re got a barrier against the wind when you’re wearing the Mountain Hardwear Women’s Mistral Hooded Fleece Jacket. The super-soft Mistral’s wind-resistant Deflection fleece nullifies wind chill; butter jersey cuffs keep the wind from slipping up your sleeve, and a storm hood keeps your noggin protected, too. Wear it either on its own on fall hikes and winter runs, or layer it on frigid days on the slopes.
This fleece is amazing. I picked it up on steepandcheep for $54, and it's worth every penny. It is very soft, tough, and has a nice feminine fit. Another advantage to the cut of this jacket is it has a long torso so you can actually be using your arms and your midriff won't be exposed to the cold. I wear it around the house all the time, and it's held up on a few hiking trips. I am 5'9" 135 lbs and got a small; it fits everywhere except the sleeves are a bit too short to really utilize the thumb holes. Overall, love it.
This is my new favorite jacket. I love my TNF Denali, but this one is even better. It's definitely wind resistance (wore it in 53 degree weather with 22 mph wind and was warm with no wind penetration). I love the soft furry fleece on the outside and the soft fleece on the inside. This jacket is fitted so if you want to wear something thick underneath, order 1 size up. I'm 5'4" and 110 pounds and the XS fits me perfectly.
How long is this jacket in the torso? Where does it fall? I'm
How long is this jacket in the torso? Where does it fall? I'm about 5'7", 130 lbs, and have a hard time finding jackets that go past the waist and don't awkwardly bunch up at the top of my pants.
I have a very disproportionately long torso, which often leads to awkward midriff-exposing moments. This jacket fits perfectly right at the hip on me (5'9" 135 lbs) in a small. Getting a small does sacrifice some of the arm length though, and trying to use the thumb holes pretty much just digs into my hands. Get one. You'll love it :)
mleong. The measurement you are referring to is called the Center Back Length or the length of the jacket from the seam on the neck to the hem at the bottom. The Mistral Jacket has a CBL of 25.5 which would sit right about at your waist... depending on your dimensions of course. I hope this info helps!
Love this jacket. It's very soft and warm. I love that it has a hood. I bought a large and will be able to wear a sweater underneath it. I haven't worn it in the winter yet, but it is definitely warm enough for a cold fall day. It's a very attractive jacket.
The MH Mistral is the best fleece I've found so far! I love that Mistral blocks most of the wind but is still breathable, has an attached hood, wrist gaiters and a draw-cord waist! Good zippers, zipper pulls, chin guard. Zippers are essential on pockets and Mistral has them! It is super soft on the outside - without it catching too much hair or fuzz. It is so snuggley-cozy! If you want windproof, the MH Countess fleece is the best - but doesn't have the hood or the gaiters and somewhat restricts arm movement with its thick, conduit layer. I am 5'9" 155lbs, and went with a size large and it fit well - sleeves are long enough, etc. -And it has the draw-cord, so it's very adjustable!
I've been eyeing this jacket at the store in town, but was holding off until I could find a sale. Luckily it appeared on steepandcheap for 60% off! Love this hoodie!! It is definitely windproof. Its fuzzy on the outside and fleecy on the inside. Not as big time fuzzy as the monkey woman jacket. I was torn between small and xsmall. Based on a different MH jacket I got in xsmall where I could barely move my arms when I wore an extra layer under it, I got the size small. Doesn't feel like I'm swimming in it, enough room to layer underneath. The xsmall would have probably been more fitted. The turquoise color is as it look on the website.
My daughter got this jacket for Christmas. She came to me yesterday with the report of a whole on the right inside of the elbow part. She really likes the jacket and won't let me return it. It a cool jacket just a little "windy" now.
I tried on the Monkey Woman jacket in stores and loooovvveeed the soft fur. However, I found this jacket online and decided to order it without trying it on because it was wind resistant, had a hood, and came in a beautiful deep turquoise color. I am so glad I did! The jacket is super soft and furry and really is windproof (unlike monkey woman). It is like wearing a silky blanket around. I hate taking this jacket off! I only wonder why so many stores only carry the monkey woman and not this jacket. This one seems more practical... Don't hesitate. This jacket is worth every penny!! The xs fits like a dream. (I am 5'2", and pretty thin, and find patagonia and north face too boxy...)
I am totally impressed by this jacket. It is so soft and comfortable and looks really good on. It is also windproof which is a super added bonus for the price of this jacket. I love the thumb cuffs, the length of the sleeves and the length of the jacket. I would say it might run just a tad big, especially in the chest. So if you are teetering between two sizes, order the smaller. There are two small complaints I have--The zipper at the top of the jacket folds in sometimes and is annoying, but not a big deal. Also, if you wear a sweater underneath, the jacket sticks to the sweater sometimes. These things are not enough to make me not absolutely love the jacket.
