This jacket has a snug athletic fit. A medium should work for you as long as you're not barrel-chested or layering heavily under it. However, they only seem to have one in stock and that's an XL

Small or medium? I'm 5'6 155lbs ( 39' chest)with an athletic build. I'm looking for a bomber shell for alpine touring and resort riding, so room for layering is a must, but not so much that the extra material will be a parachute or tree snag. Suggestions?

This jacket is pretty fitted, so I'd go with the medium to layer. I have a 41" chest and wear a L in Marmot gear, so small might be a little too tight for you.
