This bag works for me.

I bought this bag because I have been wearing a hip pouch to carry my asthma meds when I ride my bicycle. I have found that I carry the hip pouch most of the time with all my essentials in it. (I am less likely to forget something when I don't have to switch bags all the time).
I like this bag better than an ordinary hip bag because I can buckle the waist belt underneath and use the shoulder strap when I am running errands, etc. Then, I take the shoulder strap off and buckle up when I head out on the bicycle.
It has a LOT more room than I need most of the time, but I have already loaded it up with water and snacks when I went to the baseball game recently.
It's nice an roomy, great organizational features and it's pretty comfy to wear!
Does this pack have a space for a water bottle on the side, like most lumbar packs?

best man/EDC bag so far

Ok, I'm a pack packrat and will not admit to how many packs and bags I've got. I like to carry a lot of stuff, have quick access, and not look like I'm taking a full sized daypack with me everywhere. This pack is nearly perfect. I wear it cross body, but like the option to use the waist belt if I need to move fast. The waist belt pockets are excellent for quick access. One of the 3 main compartments is padded and fits a Lumix LX-3, casio slow motion camera, and batteries and memory cards. The organizers in the middle pocket are good enough. To make this bag the perfect EDC/man bag, here is what to do: Make the shoulder strap rings a bit beefier. Add a long open flap pocket in the main compartment to organize smaller items. Have a look at the Eagle Creek side kick bag, which has really good organization.
