Louis Garneau Mondo Long Sleeve Jersey - 2011 BCS
A crisp autumn morning would be our signal to reach for the Garneau Mondo Long Sleeve Jersey. It's made primarily of their Thermal Mondo fabric. This material has a heavier knit than a typical summer jersey, and it's brushed on the inside to provide cozy next-to-skin comfort and a higher degree of insulation. While the inside is fuzzy, the smooth knit exterior allows a jacket or shell to slide on easily without tugging at the arms.
Garneau cuts the Mondo Jersey to be form-fitting. Its multi-paneled design augments the thermal fabric with strategically placed inserts of two specialized fabrics. An arch-shaped yoke made of highly elastic Aero Lazer fabric runs across the back to make sure that you have total freedom of movement. You'll find a cuff made of the same material at the wrists. It's thin and lays imperceptibly on your skin for a comfortable, yet aerodynamic junction. Otherwise, their Carbon X-Mesh is placed over the scapula and behind the tricep and elbow to allow some body heat to escape as you ride. As long rides in the off-season require some forethought due to dynamic weather, your pockets are often full of extra gear. For this, Garneau uses a band of their Lazer Rev fabric around the waist. It's a compressive lycra, with grippers on the inside, that will keep the jersey from sagging under loaded pockets.
The Garneau Mondo Long Sleeve Jersey is available in Black and Ginger and comes in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large. It has the standard three patch pockets on the back, along with a hidden, zippered pocket in the center that's perfect for your music player or phone. Reflective elements are positioned for 360° visibility in low light conditions.
- Thermal Mondo body fabric and Carbon-X Mesh panels insulate in the cold, but they also transfer moisture, breathe, and dry quickly to deal with sweat once you get going
- UPF 50 fabric blocks the sun's rays to prevent a sunburned back and shoulders
- Full-length zipper enables additional ventilation and easy on-off
- 360-Degree reflective details ensure visibility to drivers during dawn or dusk rides
- The hem back gripper and Lazer Rev cuffs provide secured, comfortable coverage without riding up while you're in the drops
- Three back elastic pockets hold water and fuel and a hidden zippered pocket holds your MP3 player

Allow me to offer a counter point to the previous reviews. This is an incredible jersey at a **** of a great price. You DO have to adjust your expectations about fit. This is clearly a NEXT TO SKIN fit. It is not the clunky "club" or "pro" fit that your local club bulk ordered in the summertime, and you may wish to order one size up from your typical el-cheepo poorly designed jerseys. As well, keep in mind that next to skin means just that, so if you are self conscious about a tubular tire around your mid-section, it is not going to be hidden under the jersey.
If you are regularly riding fast winter rides and don't like being blown around on the road as your "club" kit blows around in the wind, this jersey, with it's micro-fleece material, well thought scotch-lite details, and visible back will do the trick. If your idea of a winter ride is to sit inside the coffee shop and talk about cycling, just get an extra club jersey that has lots of room to grow into.
Much smaller than expected.

I'm 5'7"/138 lbs and I have a bunch of other LG clothing but the size of this came as a shock, especially for an insulated, long-sleeve jersey which I always expect to be a little larger for a base layer. When I unpacked this I thought I was sent a women's size or an XS instead of the small. The jersey is really beautiful but I need a medium instead.
Tight but ugly back

If Real Cyclist had put a picture of the back of this jersey I could have saved the return shipping. I'm sure someone out there likes the look, but not me. Terrible pattern on the back.
I could barely get my [apparently] enormous hands through the sleeve cuffs. I'm 6'0" 165# and the L. was an otherwise good tight race fit.

It is a compression top. I do not like the slickness of the material. I found the fit too tight, and I am very slim. The hem rides up and looks bad. The zipper pocket is too small for more than a house key and a fiver. I will say that the back design looks nice and the pockets are well constructed.
