Yes, When wet they are transparent. I find they work great with a tank suit. I used mine on a camping/boating trip. Worked out great.

I like these boardshort. I got them in white. Yes, you can see through them when they are wet but, if you wear swim bottoms it don't cause issues. Plus they go with most any suit. I found the sizing to be "teenage" sizing so I went up a size then what a wear is women clothing. The side zip pocket which is near the hem of the shorts is very helpful. From the picture you also don't get to see the bright colored flowers which as stenciled on the back leg.
