Lafuma Sky Race OT Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Item # LAF0086

Lace up your Lafuma Men's Sky Race OT Trail Running Shoes, and take off down the mountain trail. These trail runners feature Lafuma's Twin Lace system: Dual toggles let you secure the upper and lower part of your shoe separately for a totally dialed fit. Waterproof breathable membranes on these shoes keep feet dry as you dash through streams or slog through mud. Gusseted tongues stop trail debris from getting in your Sky Race OT Shoes, and Vibram outsoles grab the ground.

Bottom Line:

For trail running in wet conditions.

Lafuma Sky Race OT Trail Running Shoe

By:

I thought I loved these until I finally did a really wet run. They leak - tons - just like everyone says at the stitching around the sole. I like the support on the shoe and I like the lacing system (although Dann and Jason's reviews all make true points on these features), but I won't be buying another pair of Lafuma shoes as long as such a clearly flawed design is allowed to hit the market.

Does anyone know if these shoes fit true to size? Thanks.

Hi no way they are true to size. I got a US 9 27.5cm and the cm usually tells me that's the right size but they are too small after walking around in them a bit. These are the non OT ones so I imagine the OT ones should be even tighter. Definitely try one size up and compare.

My wife and I both run in these and can't imagine sizing down so I guess it depends on your foot but I say true to size.

OUTDRIED

By:
October 12, 2009

I have this shoes and i love it in many ways, light weight, stability, looks and comfort.outdry is very good in water proofing but its seems to me that the outdry fabric did not laminated virtually 360,

the upper mesh is outdry laminated but the insole or the footbed part is not, the materials in the outer part of the shoe (mesh synthetic upper) absorbs litlle water and enters in between the glued midsole. i felt it when i was walking 1 inch flood water in 15 mins. when I check it, my sock have wet marks in the lower part of my foot. not that really wet but it makes me feel uncomfortable.

I hope outdry and Lafuma will fix this little problem.
because i love this shoes and i want to buy some pair again.

I hope this time they make it more better.

Ditto for me. I've got these shoes and have subjected them to my typical 30-second creek submersion test (the same I do for all my Gore-Tex shoes) and they came back soggy and wet.

Methinks that Outdry is likely good stuff, but they need to get a better handle on the construction process used by their licensees. Just like you, the water started entering at the seam between the uppers and lowers. Something is awry there.

Aside from the "not as good as Gore-Tex" performance, the overall function of these shoes is just OK. The Twin Lace system is a great idea in concept, but my left shoe slowly loosened during the course of the run and had to be re-adjusted periodically. Also, the rubber pull handle doesn't stay put inside the "garage" either and begins flopping around.

Support is good and traction via the Vibram outsole is superb, but cushioning is harsh.

I would place these shoes in the mid-lower of the pack when it comes to winter trail running shoes. They aren't the worst, but I can think of plenty of others I'd choose before these shoes.

short lived

while the Sky Race OT seemed like a good deal at first, I found that the seam between the sole and eva midsole began coming apart only a month after purchase. For some reason, super-glue will not work on this product either (not that it should have to, mind you). Lafuma customer service claimed that the shoe must have been "mis-used"!
I found the whole experience rather disappointing and would not purchase this brand again.

Like a Glove... For your feet

This is my first pair of trail shoes. I wanted something a little lighter weight for my short hikes with my wife that is just discovering the new thing called hiking. :) I got these shoes for myself and must say they are fantastic. The dual lace system is amazing. You can dial these things in like I've never seen. There are no pinch spots, no sensation of feeling seams or areas where your feet are not completely supported and encased. These truly are the most comfortable shoes I've worn. The soles are great too. They grab the trail and inspire confidence. They absorb the hits and give the feeling of dancing up and down the mountain. I've yet to test them in the mud or rain. Doubt I ever will. We live in AZ and on the off chance we get rain I also own an XBox.... The tongue however looks like it would seal out most everything and considering how snug they fit around my feet I don't think water would even fit inside. Overall EXCELLENT SHOES!
