The Icebreakers Men's BodyFit200 Skin Leggings with Fly give you the warmth and technical properties of the best base layer around, with the convenience of a fly. Never fear, flat seam stitching means the fly won't add a ton of bulk and won't chafe you silly on uphills. Made from merino wool, the lightweight Skin Leggings give you the best breathability and moisture wicking you can get, bar none. Merino wool isn't itchy or prickly on your skin like the more common lowland wools, and naturally resists odor so you don't offend your friends on the ride home.
Bottom Line:
The Icebreaker Leggings with Fly provide convenience, performance and comfort. What more do you need?
I have a handful of Icebreaker tops and love them all so I decided to pick up a pair of bottoms as well. I find the Icebreaker generally runs a bit small, even when I size up they are fairly skin tight. Unfortunately, I thought I'd try my recommended size with these guys and they ended up tighter than I would prefer. On the plus side, the merino wool is very soft and has exceptional breathability. Bottom line: If you don't have skinny twig legs, or don't want your baselayer to fit like spandex, think about sizing up!
These are my go to long underwear for anything cold. If really cold I add a Cloudveil Run Don't Walk Tight, but only if it is REALLY cold and I am using Schoeller type pants vs. hard shell. If in a hardshell then these are usually warm enough. They fit well. I wear a large and have a 33" waist and 32" inseam. I use them often and they are holding up well. Super comfortable against the skin. Don't smell. Good fly. Elastic waist band holding up nicely.
These pants are great and Icebreaker puts out great products. These pants keep me warm, do not itch, wick sweat, and they fit snug. I do not prefer a bulky base layer and the next to the skin fit is perfect for me. There is much room to flex and move as needed. All around good product. I'll be buying another pair probably.
Ive used many thermal layers in my lifetime and this particular product ranks near or at the top.Very easy to wear with a good stretch and excellent warmth considering the weight. The product wore well under an outer shell and at other times with jeans.
This product was used in temperatures of -36° F without issue and even at +32° F it was providing me adequate garment breathing and no over-warming occurred.
For use as experienced with temperatures between -36° F and + 32° F I rate this product 10 of 10
For use in conditions above +33° F the product may too warm.
I love these bottoms. I used them for hiking/packing or even hunting. The 200 weight is great for active pursuits in cold temps or more stagnant hobbies with cool temps. They couldn't be more comfortable.
Sizing: A lot of people have mentioned that they run a size small, but I'd disagree. I'm 6' and a lean 200, and they fit nice a snug. These aren't meant to be pants, they're a long UNDERWEAR. They're supposed to be skin-tight, but not constrictive, to go underneath everything else. They're bomber and I'd recommend them to anyone.
I have had a pair of these for just about a year, and they work great. They work well for skiing, tucking nicely into my icebreaker ski socks that I also enjoy. Also I use them on my cold day bike commutes under my soft shell knickers. A bit on the pricey side, but they look like they will last for several more years, a good investment indeed.
How does the sizing on these compare to the 260 BodyFit Leggings?
How does the sizing on these compare to the 260 BodyFit Leggings?
I'm 6'2", 185lbs, 35 waist and about a 33 inseam and M in them is an almost perfect form fit when I put them on, just bordering on being too loose by the end of the day. Same deal w/ the 200 weight or do I need a L to not feel constricted/compression?
The BF200 leggings will fit a little tighter because the fabric is thinner so I would say go with the same size. You can also check out the GTBaselayer bottoms- they have a touch of lycra for a little more stretch.
I just received these in the mail, top and bottom, and wanted to try them on and give a review.
I am about 6' or 182cm and 170lbs or 77kgs. I have a 33 inch waist, 41 inch chest, athletic build.
The fabric and seam quality look and feel great. It looks like it should hold up for a while and not break down so easily.
The fit is "FITTED" This thing is snug! I ordered LARGE and wear a medium in every other base layer. It would be wise to order one size up than what you usually wear or I imagine it would be very tight and probably unwearable.
For the bottoms, with the crotch seams seated up in my crotch as comfortable normal wear with the waist band sits above my hips in my waist, where it should, and the ankle seams comfortably reach down to the bottom of my ankles with no bunching. The waist band is not overtight and rides comfortably where it should. The only negative is the fabric feels a bit tight around my upper calves. It is a snug fit with no looseness anywhere. So overall, it wears like it's designed. I have yet tested it in the weather so can't attest to it's warmth.
Conclusion: ORDER ONE SIZE UP than what you usually wear. Buy an insulation layer to wear over this garment.
I also reviewed the top so check it out. Have fun.
Buy these and stop whining! You will not find a better pair of legging pants on the market. I wear these under pants. Under shorts with smartwool knee high socks to run in. And even wear these to bed when camping. They always stay dry. Never smell. And feel great against the skin. Keep you super warm and toasty when needed. I say buy these and wear them for three days. If you don't agree that they are the best in the biz, then move to Russia and wear their crap!
Icebreaker is the bomb. These leggings are sooooo comfortable and keep me warm. They feel so thin. I live in Aspen and wear my body fit 200 under my clothes all winter.
I'm debating getting these or the Ibex woolies for my husband.
I'm debating getting these or the Ibex woolies for my husband. Which would be better for skiing and riding a bike in 30 F weather (commuting 5 mi to work)?
These are amazing. No smell, kept me warm in about 20deg, kept me cool in about 80deg. Very well made, and versatile. Soft, still not as soft as cotton or silk, but still very soft. I love these pants.
If you do anything outdoors in temps around 15-70deg, these are for you.
I totally agree w/knanier above. I was a user of Patagonia's capilene base layers before I switched to wool a couple years ago and am never going back. I love these leggings and can't imagine going back to the synthetics again.
I'd for the icebreaker and the wool. Its better over a greater range of temperatures, does better with moisture management for the most part and will not start to stink after a few rides.
So, I bought these a while back and have used them for two winters. They are wearing holes through the material. I have one snag hole on the knee... and that's my bad. But the wool has worn itself down to nothing in certain areas. They are wonderful for just about anything cold but I have been highly discourage from their product due the quality I experienced. Others may differ. In summary, warm product that wears out easy.
This Icebreaker layer has worked very well for me.When used under any windstopping material,I have been more than comfortable even during hard physical labor.

I'm looking for some lightweight long johns for hiking and biking around Iceland in november - my research indicates that either the Icebreaker BodyFit 200's or the SmartWool Lightweight Bottoms are the way to go. Can someone who has tried both chime in with their opinion on which is better?
Question number two I unfortunately have to wear a light knee brace while exercising - would it be a problem wearing that over a pair of light long johns?
I have both the Icebreaker and SmartWool long bottoms and think they are both high quality items in both fabric and construction and could recommend either of them. I do however prefer my Icebreakers because I like their fit better. They're a more 'athletic' fit and as such they fit well under all of my clothes plus I can wear them alone to run in instead of traditional running tights.
I've been using these for two years now, for both skiing and for some cold weather backpacking. These are a very comfortable baselayer that has a good fit and the fly is a definite plus for me. The pants appear to be well made, and they wash well in a washing machine. I have two complaints - the first is that they appear to be stretching in the second year of use. Not to the point that they aren't usable - they still have a snug fit - but it is obvious that they are no longer returning to their original shape. Second - I have a pair of REI MTS merino wool pants that I got for a fraction of these that are every bit as soft, comfortable and good-fitting, and the REI leggings haven't stretched. REI doesn't appear to be making these any longer (very disappointing - they were a great deal), but this is one of the rare cases where I found Icebreaker to be second place to another brand.
I have the old version with no fly but these are some of the best base layer I own. I wear them everyday under my suit and around town, because it gets well in to the negative teens with the wind chill here. my legs are never cold. These guys move well with my body and unlike some synthetic pairs I have, I never feel these bunching up or pulling. I have a 36" waist and I sized up to an XL because I like a little room. and they fit great.
Just used it in 5-10 degrees snowshoeing with just light wind pants. Plenty warm enough and though I sweated I never felt wet, clammy, or cold. Definitely 'Love it'.

Hey - I love my Icebreaker tops and am thinking of trying the bottoms but read conflicting sizing comments. One guy says he's 6'1" and likes size L and another says size S would fit anyone up to 6'? I'm 6'1" and I like a tighter fit but want to make sure they are also long enough, any other suggestions? Thanks!
I love this product! They're thick enough to keep me warm, but thin enough to breathe well. I'm 6'2" and 180 lbs, I like the XL, they're a bit baggy, but I like them that way.
Have now used mine to run, bike and in place of my athletic tights and love them. The fit is a bit tighter/athletic feeling than my Smartwool bottoms so will wear these for high activity. I'm usually between a medium and large in size and ordered these in medium and they are just right.
As usual, icebreaker kills it with the body fit leggings. I have the women's and got these for my dad for the holidays and he is loving it. They are the warmest and thin enough to wear even if you just want to put them under jeans. You can sweat in them while skiing for days and days and they still won't smell!
got them for my husband who usually tends to be too hot going down no matter what he wears. but this ones zap mosture perfectly and can be worn over and over, well to a limit
huge Icebreaker fan to begin with - own several tops. these were my first bottoms. just warm enough to ski all day long, thought when i first received them they might be too thin but after wearing 10 days skiing in varying conditions haven't got a complaint so far. hope u like that skin tight look!
They are not "sexy" to wear by any means but they seem to work well. I give them a 5 because I have no complaints. They are a bit baggy in the crotchial area.
This is the best base layer I've ever owned. The Merino wool is very comfortable, warm and dry. I'm a bigger guy and the XL size fits me perfectly. I highly recommend these to anyone who's going to be outside in cool temps for any period of time.
