almost perfect

Love this, but it's itchy. I own quite a bit of Icebreaker (including a SL chase shirt that is fine), and this is the only one that itches :( I've washed it at least 6 times so I don't think it will improve much, so I am resigned to wear a cami underneath it. The styling is nice, and I sized up (from a M to a L) as I do in all the IB bodyfit series for a slim/athletic but not tight fit. Great for hiking, biking, and sporty casual wear.

Obsessed

I have this top in 3 different colors, and in different merino weights. I love Icebreaker and merino wool. Every time this comes up on SAC, I have a hard time not ordering another one!! I wear them to work every day (I teach Phys. ed) and I count on them for any outdoor activity. I wore them all winter as a mid layer skiing and in the spring over a tank for hiking. The material merino is unbeatable.

I am 5'2" and 130 lbs. I am small but muscular. I ordered the large because I don't like things skin tight. The medium fits me (I have both) but I tend ot gravitate towards the larges for comfort and it's a bit longer.

The thumb holes are in the perfect place on all of my icebreaker tops. There is never any weird twisting of the arms. I find that I am always using the thumb holes, esp when I run.

As for comfort, incredibly soft!!! I sometimes find myself wearing these to bed.

My only complaint is the zip neck... I prefer crew necks for any type of activity, esp skiing, but the zip neck with the collar looks better for me at work, versus a tshirt. I do liike that the neck allows for air to flow unzipped. I never wear it zipped up... not comfortable that way.

You can't go wrong with this top.

Icebreaker GT200 Chase 1/4-Zip Top

Getting some climbing in before a winter storm blew in. Kept me warm but didn't make me overheat. Couldn't ask for more in a shirt (and I LOVE the thumb holes).

Too tight in the neck

By:
January 31, 2012

I normally wear a S in Icebreaker, but this top was just too tight around the neck. When I zipped it up I almost choked! The body was shorter than I expected and I think I would have had issues with it riding up while running. It was tight around the chest as well and the puckering around the zipper was unattractive. That being said, my straight crew neck long sleeve fit just fine. I think if you want a snug base layer, stick with a basic crew or v-neck, but if you like the 1/4-zip style, go up one size.

Love this top

Wore this running and it was 48 when I started and in the high 50s when I took it off and was never too warm. I love the fit and the style. I also love this company. I tell everyone I know this should be the only online place to shop. Thanks for all you do, it doesn't go unnoticed.

Narrow Neck

By:
July 18, 2011

My wife is 5'6" 125 lbs and not bulky in the neck shoulders at all. She got the shirt in Small, and the body of the shirt fit very well, but when she tried to zip it up it was very tight in the neck. Turns out when we examined it the neck of this shirt doesn't stretch at all. It's odd considering we have several other 1/4 zip shirts both mens and womens without that issue, but this looked to be part of the design as there was no "give" anywhere in the throat area, and not just a sewing defect. Had to return this shirt after scoring it on SAC because of the strange design of the 1/4 zip neck.

Cutest top!

This top is absolutely the cutest one! I love the style and functionality of it. I wore it few times hiking last fall and will be using it more this year. It is very breathable too.

UGH

By:

So disappointed. I have a fairly small neck, relatively speaking and this was so tight zipped up it had to go back. And though I liked the snug fit, wish it was longer in the torso so I didn't have to worry about my mid section freezing with my lowrider exercise/yoga pants. Too bad.

Love Icebreaker

By:

I love this top - have been wearing it to work and home again on the bike - can wear it for a week and it doesn't even smell!

The fit is great, being wool, it will adapt to your proportions, and even the sleeves are long enough!

You don't need to have a top for every day of the week, when you can have only one top that doesn't smell. I get embarassed putting on my polyester moisture wicking super duper (not) smelly cycling top to go home, because it smells so bad from riding to work. Honestly, the wool really does take the sweat off your skin, and avoids the BO smell.
