Hincapie Sportswear Legado Collection Diablo Bib Shorts

Item # HIN0246

The Hincapie Legado Collection Diablo Bib Shorts are designed with the same attention to detail that Big George and the rest of Team BMC require. The Diablo's paneled construction provides a next-to-skin fit while HinSpeed Lycra wicks moisture for a comfortable ride on hot afternoons. Mesh bib straps keep air circulating under your jersey and the Hincapie Power chamois provides ample cushion for when the rides get long and the miles start to feel longer.

  • Hincapie Power chamois features a four-way stretch material for a perfect fit
  • Soft mesh bibs won't bunch up in the drops
  • HinSpeed elastic grippers prevent mid-ride short shifting
  • Ergonomic, paneled fit follows the contours of the body for wind-cheating speed

Bottom Line:

Designed, tested, and approved by Big George.

Perfection at it's best!!

By:
July 26, 2012

I just received these bibs yesterday and immediately tried them on for size and they felt incredible! I just returned from my evening 20 mile ride and OMG these are hands down the absolute best bibs ever!! After 10 years of riding I've tried about every brand on the market and have always considered Assos and Castelli the cutting edge to which every other brand is measured. I'm only 5'10" but weigh over 200lbs with a 47" chest and large thighs, 23" above the knee and 28" at the crotch. At least for me the 3XL are the perfect size, from the long legs without a gripper but a nice wide soft hem, to the straps that are soft, wide, flexible, and extremely comfortable. The waist is also a perfect cut; not too low, and not so high that you have to bend over to relieve yourself. The chamois doesn't feel thick but it must be the perfect cut because I can't tell where it ends and the legs begin.
I rarely if ever write a review about a product that I've purchased but I read almost every other review from others and yes, they do actually disappear when you put these on. I still have them on because frankly they are too damn comfy to take off but I prob should shower before I hit the sack.
I can't wait for my other 2 pairs that I just ordered and I'm starting to think about listing the others on ebay soon.

The best I've tried so far

By:
July 24, 2011

I've tried several brands of bib shorts, and none other have been this comfortable. I never understood the "feels like it disappears" description when applied to clothing or saddles or shoes....but with these shorts I finally get it. Very soft to the touch, both on the outside and inside. The mesh material for the straps are super comfortable.

Well I am 6'8" and have been looking for bib and shirt

Well I am 6'8" and have been looking for bib and shirt combo. I got a set from Jollywear in a world size 4xl, the bibs fit just barely but the jersey looks like it was made for Marco Pantani I couldn't even get it close to closing. I ride a 65cm bike and am wondering if these would be larger since George is an American and hopefully goes by US standard sizing. Any help would be appreciated.

Perfect Fit & God Send Fabric

By:
February 23, 2012

Technically, I went on a shopping spree on several brands. Namely Castelli, Louis Garneau and yes Hincapie. I have been eyeing the diablo kit for quite some time already before I decided to take the plunge. And I did. Oh my god, the fabric is a God Send! The Dimtek fabric is so much more softer than Castelli's. The fit is really just perfect for me. I'm around 30" waist, 36" chest and 1.7m tall and the small bib and matching jersey fits like a second skin to me. However, that being said I must say the fabric does feel slightly thicker and heavier than the Castelli's and Louis Garneau's. But due to the perfect fit for me I do not feel like I was wearing anything. I totally agree with H^3's "feels like it disappears" comment. I'm definitely gonna consider more from Hincapie in the future even though they may be slightly more costly. However, the comfort justifies the little extra that was spent. Way to go Big George!

Sizing it forward

By:
February 22, 2012

I always buy XL bibs (except for XXL Castelli) so I got these in XL and they fit as advertised. These are now my favorite bibs. I'm a middle aged guy with a medium build (read: not athletic) with a size 44 chest and 34 waist who weights 180 pounds in winter. The they fits snug, but not tight (I mentioned I'm not an athletic build, right) with little of the unwanted "play" that can ruin a good day in the saddle. As I write this I'm just disappointed the XLs aren't in stock.

Good with weird flaw

By:
February 11, 2012

I like Hincapie stuff because I think their fabric is top notch. The mesh panels are great. The chamois is a little lacking in thickness. The designs look very sharp in my opinion. The major problem I have is the bottom of the zipper scrapes up the crotch area on my bibs. I'm going to have to do a little Magyvering because it's becoming a real issue that could cut the life of the shorts... well short...

5'9" 155 lbs M fits great in both jersey and bibs

Atomic Wedgie???

By:
December 30, 2011

I gotta respectfully rebut the Atomic Wedgie review. The reason you got the wedgie is because you bought the wrong size. You should probably be wearing mediums.

I'm 6'-3" and 200# and the large size fits just fine. I've ridden several centuries and numerous steep extended climbs in these bibs with no problems. They have a pretty standard American fit. Nice bibs and a great value at these prices.

Atomic wedgie!!

By:
December 21, 2011

I'm 5-10 175lbs. I got an XL. Tried it on and the chamois was riding up like an inverted pre made taco shell. The fabric is comfortable and the cut is simple and not very form fitting. It seemed to be in need of more panels to fit without bunching up. I washed it dried it and took it for a ride. Nothing changed. I spent the entire decent feeling violated. No other bib I own has felt like this. I had ordered two and the other one felt the same though I never washed or rode in it. I'll stick with Sugoi.

Just curious why you would buy an XL...I am 6'3" 225 and wear an XL...I think you need to rethink your sizing.

I'm 5'5 to 5'6 weight is 210, which size would best

I'm 5'5 to 5'6 weight is 210, which size would best fit me, looking at the Hincapie Sportswear Legado Collection Diablo Bib Short - Men's and the Hincapie Sportswear Legado Collection Diablo Jersey - Short-Sleeve as the matching set, please advise as to what would be the best size. On shirts I normally wear Large to X-Large, because I do work out a lot and on my regular bike shorts they are XL's, but would like to transition into the bib's, because I tend to pull my shorts up a lot during rides.

Any help is this matter will be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
John

Best short I'v found so far!!

By:
December 15, 2011

I first found this short in my BMC kit but I absolutely love it. It is one of the most comfortable shorts I have found. I am 162, 6-1, waist 32 and I wear the large comfortably if you want super tight maybe go down to a medium the straps stretch just fine not like castelli. I have 3 of these kits now the jersey I wear is a Medium.

New roadie, first kit - Size: Large

By:
December 5, 2011

I was attracted to the kit on BT because the red color scheme was a good match with my new bike. The 5 stars reviews further wetted my appetite. I will provide sizing info for those trying to decide.

I'm 6' 2-1/2" 180 lbs. Chest is 40 on a good day and waist is generally 33. Quads: 22" Collar bone to crouch: 30-1/2"

Large bibs and jersey. While the bibs would certainly fit someone my height with maybe 20 extra pounds (evenly spread out), the jersey is about perfect for me. So if your bigger/bulkier you might want to consider sizing up on the jersey only.

My only other jersey is a Fox Race Short Sleeve Jersey that has a rear tail of about 3 inches, the back on this one is only one inch longer than the front.

Did I mention the red color scheme is rich...looks great.

Hope this info is helpful.

The sizing chart works for this bib. I am a 30" around the waist and 1.7m tall. I bought the small size and it fits me snugly. The shoulder straps are comfortable. The fabric I must say are almost like egyptian cotton.

Looks good, feels great

By:
December 1, 2011

Matches the shirt perfectly. I am about 5'10" and weigh 150. I got a medium and it fits snug but is very comfortable. These bibs are a tad longer than others that I have had. Closer to the knee. Feels great and no rubbing or chafing so far and have ridden some 50 mile rides. The white on the side of the legs is a tad bit see through but nothing to worry about.

Best Bibs So Far

By:
November 30, 2011

These are the best pair of bibs I have. Not that I have a huge sample size to compare them against, but I own Castelli, Capo, Pearl Izumi, and these have the best true-size fit. I love everything about the bibs. The mesh on the straps are the best of any bib as they are easy to put on and off and they stay in place without placing any pressure whatsoever in your shoulders. The material is smooth and comfortable. The chamois is decently padded and comfortable. I wish they had a less flashy design, but to be sincere, once you have them on, you really forget about those big "H" everywhere because these are excellent.

Nice construction, beautiful logos...thin chamois

By:
November 23, 2011

I must admit this is one of the coolest looking bib's I owned...until I rode with it. I had to return the bib because of the crotch width. I felt like the bibs were made for people with larger hips and an american butt...wide. I wear a large in all of my other bibs, but this one felt like an extra large. I absolutely LOVED the bib strap length and material (and it didn't pull on my shoulders). The inseam was nice and long. The chamois is thin, with very little padding in the center. This was nice, because I use a cut out saddle and often find most chamois have too much padding down the middle which causes uncomfortable pressure. What it all comes down too....if you're shaped like Hincappe, these will fit well. Taller people with larger thighs will rejoice.

Buttery material and a good pad. Also, for the unshaven dudes like me, the gripper-free legs are awesome as they are pull-free. : )

Top notch!!!

By:
October 12, 2011

I purchased a custom Hincapie Velocity kit made for my local bike shop last spring. This is by far my favorite kit and I have been riding in it all summer. The kit is so awesome I wanted to find another one, just in different colors. Fortunately, I found the exact same Hincapie kit on Bonktown, but it was referred to as the "Legado/Diablo Collection" (even tho the package it came in said "Velocity").

These have to be the most comfortable bibs I have ever owned! The material is very comfortable and of high quality, especially the straps. The chamois is amazingly comfortable for long days in the saddle. The graphics look very stellar in person as well. The fit is very true to what the sizing chart says. I'm 6'3", 195lbs and the XLs fit me perfectly.

I cannot imagine having a more comfortable bib short than this! Please make more in different colors!

Kit so good...I own 10 of 'em!

By:
October 2, 2011

These bib shorts are the Hincapie Velocity custom bib shorts with Hincapie graphics. Team BMC will tell you that this is the kit they wear but a close inspection of big race photos shows that they actually wear the Emergence kit. However, it is still a top notch kit. I own several of these kits of different vintages and all have proven to be extremely well made and very comfortable.

The graphics on this kit are sharp! The stock pictures that accompany the description here do not do them justice! They look much better in person. The reds are very rich – more like a crimson – and look good even when wet. These kits are much better looking than the Equipe graphics which are an identical garment. My only complaint is that there isn’t a version that is primarily white for those of us who live in warmer climates.

Overall, a very comfortable, well made kit.

Runnin' with the Devil!!

By:
October 5, 2011

I picked up these (& the matching jersey) off Bonktown.....totally money well spent. The sizing is very true to fit. I am 5'10" 195ish, size 34 in most jeans and a large (top & bottom) fit perfectly. The guy I live chatted with totally knew what he was talking about for sizing!!

The legs are a bit longer than my Campagnolo bibs which I totally dig. I put 20 miles on them the day after I got them and there was no leg ride-up and the straps were unnoticeable. The chamois is a perfect thickness for all-day saddle comfort. The white leg panels are a bit transparent up close but nothing major. The only thing I miss is a radio pocket for my iPod....but not worth dropping a star for it.

Killer bibs at a killer BT price!!!
