Item # HEL0002

If you like to move fast (as opposed to stopping to smell every single mountain flower), check out the Helinox Featherlite Twist Lock Trekking Pole. DAC lightweight, super-strong aluminum is the same material used to make tent poles so you get stability and balance on everything from rugged trails to flat paths without added weight.

  • DAC-crafted lightweight aluminum offers a high strength-to-weight ratio that helps you succeed and won't weigh you down

  • Hard carbide tip, wide rubber tip cap, and small trekking basket all aid in offering stability
  • Long foam handle allows you to vary your hold to accommodate for steep trails and varied terrain
  • DAC Green Anodizing uses no nitric or phosphoric acid to promote a cleaner environment
  • Crafted by DAC exclusively for Big Agnes

Do these come with snow baskets for snowshoeing or do you recommend a different pole for that activity?

They do not come with snow baskets. I'd probably look at at either a dedicated snowshoeing pole or a touring ski pole such as the Black Diamond Traverse or Expedition.

Love 'Em

By:

Just did two backpacking trips with these, and really like them. They are light and strong, easy to adjust, and comfortable. I am not usually a fan of twist-locks, but worth it for the weight savings, and these are the easiest I've tried. When I didn't want to use them and strapped them on my pack, I didn't even notice them. Also, they collapse down really small.

I'm 5'6" and I use the 120s at the very tallest settings.

Extremely Light

By:
June 4, 2012

I was hesitant to start using trekking poles because I didn't want another thing to pack and I could always find or make a walking stick, but I was able to get a steal of a deal on here and take them on my last AT section hike. I am so glad I did. They saved my balance and my ankles many times on some rockier descents, and they saved my back and knees on the ascents. These are so light I hardly noticed when I had them strapped to my pack. The handles and straps feel like they were molded to fit just my hands. I was worried about the ease of adjustment with the twist lock, but they were easy to adjust during a quick water break at a gap or summit. I don't recommend trying while walking.

Tip comparison of Long and Short

By:
April 30, 2012

Comparison of the tips for the 135cm and 120cm version. Longer poles have a longer tip and wider baskets which allow you to clip two poles together when stored. Smaller length has shorter tips and smaller basket.
Diameter of poles are also significantly different in size.

I have heard that Twist Lock poles can easily break and are not reliable. Has anybody had any problems/good experiences with the Twist Lock on these poles?

Hey Luke,

Not at all. As long as you have the poles extended and locked in place properly, they are completely reliable.

Light and stable.

I picked these up on SAC for $35 a couple months ago and have been very happy with the results. These things turn me into a mountain goat while trekking off trail in rocky terrain. I was concerned that I would have hand discomfort but the ergonomics seem to be well designed after even a full day of use. My wife was jealous so I just picked up a second pair.

It should be per pair, not per pole.

12oz per pole would be FAR from "featherlite"

Superlight trekking poles

By:
March 20, 2012

Super lightweight compared to the cheaper poles that Ive gotten from amazon. Pole does flex a bit but returns. I dont worry about the poles snapping. Adjusts but twisting and adjusting to desired length. Has a carbide tip and rubber cap for protection.
Using poles while backpacking helps transfer some of the weight to your arms to ease the load. Also provides balance when traversing some sketching sections. Foam hand grips are comfortable. The straps did irritate my hands a bit, but they do have a soft piece of fabric on the section that is in contact with your hands. Used these poles as a monopod for my camera with my attached ultrapod. Was able to grab these cheap on steepandcheap for $35 and they were more than worth it.
