Gore Bike Wear Oxygen SO Jacket - 2011 BCS
Without a doubt, the shoulder seasons provide the greatest difficulty in terms of layering. It's either too warm for a jacket, or too cold for one that's not insulated. And all too often, these conditions change from one to the other within the course of a ride. So, the question remains unanswered, how do you prepare for such chaos? Well, with the Gore Bike Wear Oxygen SO Jacket, of course.
The Oxygen SO is constructed from WindStopper soft shell to block the harsh effects of wind, while the fleece lining holds the heat your body is creating. The relaxed fit of the jacket is comfortable and won't inhibit your movement on the bike. Ultrasonic seams weld each piece together without the use of thread, eliminating chafing where traditional seams typically rub. A full-length zipper with a semi-locking slider and a snap-insert on the collar makes one-handed opening on the bike less of a circus trick.
Three pockets on the back store your ride essentials right where you need them. A single vertical zip pocket secures your keys, ID, and credit card for a mid-ride warm up at your local coffee shop. Reflective piping on the back and sleeves keep you visible during predawn and dusk rides. Reflective logos on the front and back add an extra measure of safety.
The Gore Bike Wear Women's Oxygen SO Jacket is available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Apple Green/black, Black, Lemon/black, Navy Blue/black, Red/black, Splash Blue/red, Vibrant Orange/black, and White/black.

this softshell is very warm. i've tried a comparable Adidas jacket that had a green front and black back, was very warm, sleeve zips. this jacket has windstopper all over it, no variation in materials, and the back is green! just like the front, so if you get a jacket a bright color to be safe, its not just on the front.
the size chart says it is really small, so i got the small and the medium to be safe. i'm 5'7", 135lbs, and the small fit well with room to spare. compared to the Louis Garneau themal mondo jersey size XS, this is loose. although its not super tight like the LG jersey size, the fabric is not thin, so it won't wipp around making noises. i'm sure this jacket will get me sweating on some days, but i've tried all the different pieces of cycling clothing, and some days i'm just gonna sweat. its much more versitle than wearing many layers, because unzipping the jacket is like taking off 2 or 3 layers! so climbing its better.
if i had unlimited money, i would go a step up, i believe the next higher version of this jacket has more variation in materials and vents.
