I'm shopping for my first rope and couldn't help to wonder: how can this 11mm weigh as little as most 9.4's? What's the catch? I never would have dreamed of going to 11mm, but if weight's not an issue...

Usually a lightweight larger rope has a thinner sheath. Since you're buying your first rope I wonder if you'll be doing a lot of top roping which wears on a sheath a lot more. Also, 11mm doesn't work so well through a grigri and it's on the high end of a lot of ATCs.
