Easton Circuit Clincher Wheelset - 2010

Easton Circuit Clincher Wheelset - 2010 BCS

Item # EAS0150

Whether you want to update stock units, add another choice to the quiver for quick tire/gear changes, or take training duties off your uber-light, fragile race wheels, the Easton Circuit Clincher Wheelset owns the road without breaking the bank.

  • A large drive-side flange with three cross lacing transfers power without flexing, while the rest of the wheel features radial lacing to reduce weight as much as possible
  • Asymmetrical, low-drag seals keep road grime out of the cartridge bearings for fast-rolling, long-lasting wheels
  • An alloy ratchet mechanism with three pawls assures quick, positive engagement
  • Anodized and shoot-peen rim finish is ultra durable for heavy road use
  • Machined braking surface for precise, smooth stopping

Bottom Line:

Hand-built performance leaders.

Minor Issues with Lockring and Brake Surface

By:
March 16, 2011

These are great wheels--light, quiet, smooth, strong and attractive. Alas, there are two issues with the wheels: (1) The freehub lockring clearance is very short and may not work with SRAM cassette lockrings; and (2) the brake surface width is very narrow--narrower than even brand new brake pads.
To resolve the lockring clearance issue, try a shimano lockring. I found the shimano lockring was 2-3mm shorter than my sram lockring.
I haven't found a workaround to the narrow braking surface issue. My brake pads hang off the edge of the rim and still drag along the stickers, and these pads are brand new and narrower than any other road pad I own (I've tried 5 different brands).

If you can work around these issues, these are amazing rims at a great price.

The total weight of these wheels without rim tape or skewere are 1750g, not the advertised weight of 1635g. Big difference IMO. At that price and weight you can buy from somewhere else.

Excellent Wheelset

By:

For the price here on DOG, these wheels cannot be beat! Use your brain and put on some rim tape... then you'll find these wheels smooth, responsive and well-balanced. The difference was noticeable from the start. The silent freewheel is awesome as well, and they climb and descend smoothly. Great all round wheel. I've only ridden 100 miles on them so far, and am hoping they're as durable as advertised.

Several hundred miles later, and I still think this wheelset is an excellent value. Still true as an arrow and feel good.

weight not correct

Received wheels and immediately put them on the scale. Both tires were weighed without rim tape. Rear tire was 1030g and the front tire was 720. Entire wheelset weight minus skewers and rim tape 1750. Big difference from advertised weight here on DOG or RealCyclist. 100g difference is just a bit too much IMO. The wheels roll smoothly in my hands and the freehub is dead silent. So basically you get a wheelset for about 2.5 Benjamins. If that's the case then it opens up the options for other makers. Weight not as advertised.

A one hundred gram discrepancy is well within limits if you're using the average scale.... Most scales outside of a lab aren't that accurate. However, there is a difference between a wheel and tire, which is definitely worth knowing.
