I got this pack as a gift for my niece, I have the exact one in a different color for my daughter. She loves it. I filled the pack with goodies for Christmas and it was the perfect size to hold her snacks and coloring books so she was thrilled. Color choices are all cute and now my daughter wants one to match her cousins ;)

800 cubic inches is about 13 liters. This bag is on the smaller side so if you pack lite it'll be no worries.

Great for little kids with small loads.

My first-grader loves the pretty design, and looks really proud to wear it. The pack fits her well. I did try putting a 2" thick 3-ring binder inside, but the corners stuck out the top, and I couldn't quite zip it up. Fortunately, this year she only needs folders and spiral notebooks, which fit fine. She'll probably need a bigger pack next year, at which point it will become a travel/sleep-over bag.

Good for 1st Grade & day hikes

This pack is built really well and is stylish for school. At school, it fits: a pocket folder; thin books; lunch; and miscellaneous other items; but, don't go for it if you want your kid to tote around a regular sized three ring binder.

For day hikes, it'll be great for my seven year old to carry food, windbreaker or light insulation, and water bottle.

I love the DAKINE Grom Pack. Took it on my recent trip to Aruba and carried it to the beach daily. It was also really helpful on the plane because I didn't need to carry a purse or other carry-on. It served multiple purposes. I use it as a carry-all to work sometimes as well. Looks good, too. Great price for a very useful pack.
