Training for that spring marathon and can't stand the thought of 13 miles on a treadmill? Grab the CW-X Stabilyx Tights and hit the road for a supportive, warm jaunt. The Stabilyx Tights offer targeted support to protect your lower back and core area so you can run strong the whole time. These running tights also integrate CW-X's Conditioning Web, designed to help muscles and ligaments bond together to stabilize the knee joint. Getting chilly from your sweat will no longer be an issue as CWX made these running tights with 80% Coolmax, which pulls moisture away from your skin to the outside of the tight. Flat seam construction prevents chafing so you stay focused on the trail.
Bottom Line:
Run longer with the CW-X Stabilyx Tights and avoid the usual aches and pains.
I LOVE these tights. I am 5'2 and 102 pounds and the xs fits great. I train for ultra runs and these keep me warm and provide a lot of support. The only thing I would complain about is the drawstring. It hits right at my bellybutton and chafes. Drawstrings should be on the outside of pants like these if there is one at all. The crotch tends to sag just a bit after a while of running but I can't find a tight that hasn't done that.

I'd like to get a pair of 3/4 length tights. Which would be the best for long distance running (10-26 miles)? Also, which are the coolest for summertime heat? I do have some knee pain and my hamstrings are usually really sore after running. Which style would you suggest? Stabilyx or Pros?
I bought 2 pairs of Stabilyx tights a month ago. I ordered one pair for man small, but I feel the compression was not what I required, I reordered small for woman and I find out it fit perfectly and bring all satisfaction to help me in my exercises. I had a serious accident which required serious surgery, an lot of pain in my legs specially in my tigh. Since I wear Stabilyx tights, I feel 50% less pain, more confortable and can do twice exercies that I was doing before. Help my blood circulation in my legs and by the same time keep all my body heat that provide a real release for all my butt, tigh, calves and great support for my knees. You want to get improvement, buy Stabilyx tights and if you need more informations, always somebody to answer your questions.
I bought these tights, took them out of the package, and ran a half marathon! They really did help with fatigue! My legs felt great the whole run. I'm 5'2 and 118 pounds, ordered an extra small, they looked tiny coming out of the package but fit perfectly! They do stop short... above the ankle.
Wearing these is like having springs in your legs--you will not want to stop. If there is a down side, you will no longer feel like a superhero when you take them off. I suffer from chronic joint pain and these really help, plus they look soooooo cool.
The gray pair I received about 3 weeks ago looks much darker than the pic, which is actually a good thing for me. I don't think you can really see a difference in color when they are wet/dry - I live in Phoenix, so this is a concern for me too. :)
Best running tights I have ever owned. I run early am in the cold now and dark. I can wear these down to about 33 degrees without another layer. With a wind pant cover they are good to about 20 degrees. Lower than that I use treadmill. Recommend them. I am also over 50 so my muscles like the support.
I used to wear the Expert Tight by CW-X, however this is a step up and well worth it! I get the same knee support I need, however they also give really good lower back support. They just feel great and I am so happy I found them!
I have a total knee replacement and a fusion in my lower back.
I have a total knee replacement and a fusion in my lower back. I am almost 70 and enjoy skiing. Do you think these tights would help stabilize my knee and lower back? I am 5'5", 130 pounds.
ORDER NOW!! You won't be sorry! If anything can help these are your answer. I won't run without them. Can't answer regarding skiing or a knee replacement, but I can't imagine any other gear that could do more than these. Buy according to your height and weight otherwise if you buy large you won't get the support they are known for.
I think you would find that the CW-X Tight would be very helpful in supporting your back and stabilizing your knee. I am 61y.o. avid skier and I have 3 pairs of the CW-X tights in different weights/support...I love them all and would not ski without them!!
I used to think Under Armour was good. It is. But these are much better...the best! They are comfortable, give great support, help your fatigued legs rest/heal and they're nice looking too! Buy two...you won't want to be without a clean pair at all times, if you're like me. These have been such a great help as I train for my first marathon. I wear the Pro shorts to run (it's still warm here) and then go home, soak my legs and put on the tights. Next morning after a 20 mile run, I'm feeling good and my legs are fully functional and not painful. I cannot recommend these enough. FYI...I also bought two pairs of the CW-X Stabilyx tights. Again, I love those just as much as the Pro tights. I use the Stabilyx for different things than the Pro tights. On cooler days, I run in the Pro tights. I tend to use the Stabilyx for recovering after a long run.
Would these tights be adequate wicking for an indoor activity
Would these tights be adequate wicking for an indoor activity where I have to wear pants on top of them? I want the compression to support all movements, but also the wicking since the activity is intense movement with overheating, and then hanging around and getting chilly from sweat...

I am 5'9", 115 lbs with very long thin legs. As always, it's very difficult to find anything that fits me from the waist down, but I'm guessing I'd be OK with the smalls? I'm a bit nervous about the length.
Small will fit tight...especially since they will be short on you and will press against your lower calf area. My build is similar to yours and as long as you are truly long and thin, you will fit into these. However, if you have any hip or thicker lower leg, you will need a medium. I have about five pairs of CW-X and each is a bit different in fit...these definitely run a bit tighter. Every pair I own is small...but my build is small/thin all around, in spite of my height.
I love these tights. I went running on a cold day and it rained/snowed for the last 3 miles of my run. My legs felt dry the whole time. When I was done I bent over to prop myself against my knees due to tiredness. My hands got soaked. The tights pulled the moisture away from my skin keeping me dry! I also love the way they hold my imperfect body together with less shaking ;). My knees don't ache after I run anymore.
I run at least 6 miles a day and have tried all kinds of tights. These are by far the best. They really give your legs extra pep really! I ran 12 mile race Sunday so glad I had them!

Write your question here...I am 5'9" and 140 pounds, I usually wear medium in all sports clothing, but purchased the large for the length. Exchanged them for a medium when I saw the size chart. WOndering how snug they are supposed to be to work?
I've been wearing the Stabilyx tights for three years not and wouldn't run a marathon/half marathon without them. The support to the muscles is invaluable in distance running. Because I have knee problems having the Stabilyx has allowed me to continue running distance runs. I recommend them to my friends I have hooked on running as well.
I'm 5'2", 130lbs...I'm wondering if I should go for the extra small based on height or the small based on weight. I'm worried that if they are too long the knee support wont rest in the correct spot. Also, I live in AK and would prefer full length (as opposed to 3/4) for weather and bugs.
nO I am 5"3" and 133 and I wear a medium.. they really are uncomfortable tight. I recommend the medium. Over time I notie that the tightness will loosen a bit, but I still recommend medium vs small. I think the small would be so uncomfortable.
Hi Mo Alaska I am also 5'2" and I am 105 lbs. I have bought an XS and a S CW tights, and I find the S size is a better fit for me as the XS is to tight and short in lenght. You might want to consider S size for yourslef. Hope this helps.
Oh Ladies you are going to love these stability compression tights. I am a Personal Trainer and athlete and I have never owned a pair of tights like these that are so supportive, comfortable and well made...I could wear them every day! I wasn't sure on the fit and talked to customer support. I am very slim-105lbs on a good day-and 5' 41/2"...I always fall in the borders of xs & sm. I am not petit in my proportions. Follow the chart-its right on! I bought both sizes and CLEARLY I am a sm. I didn't bother trying on the xs as I could see they were too short in length. If they came in more colors I would buy more! I so enjoy having these on in all my outdoor cardio activities-you will too.
I am purchasing the 3/4 tights women's sizes, but I am 5'8
I am purchasing the 3/4 tights women's sizes, but I am 5'8 and weigh 121. That does not even show a size on the chart... I can get small which are for 115 lbs at my height, or med with is 135 lbs. Which to buy?
If I were you, I would go with the small. I am 5'10'' and 130lbs-- I find the size small fits me well. They're tights so they're supposed to fit very snug. I only have the full-length tights, but they still fit my ridiculously long legs. Hope this helps!
This is the first pair of non cheap tights/leggins I've purchased, since becoming a runner 1 year ago. I love them. They are a struggle to get on, but they provide great support and have even helped to improve my posture during run. They keep everything where it's supposed to be and stay in place. I run 95% of the time indoors on a treadmill, and think these are probably better suited for outdoors and I get a little warm... Great insulators. I am a street size 10/12, and the L fits well.
Which size and model for telemarking???? I'm 5'3" and 120 lbs but carry most of my weight below the waist. I also have pretty lousy circulation so by the end of the day, my lower legs are quite swollen. I want some tights for overall compression (to help venous return) and knee/hip stability while telemarking. I am worried about tights bunching up behind the knee as I tele which might further hinder my lower limb circulation. Recomendations please :)
Hi There. I would recommend a size Small 3/4 Stabilyx tights to you. I use the 3/4 version for all snow activities- Alpine, Tele, Snowboarding, etc. I position the tights correctly on my knee and then I hike my ski sock over the bottom end of the 3/4 tight. This keeps the tight in place and prevents bunching. The 3/4 design also helps keep bulk out of your ski boots. Good luck.
I have 5 pairs of CW-X tights of different kinds and order them in an XS. The Stabilyx tight runs a size small so make sure when you order them that you go up a size. I love CW-X tights and I am sure I would love these if they were a small! Unfortunately there is no small available :(

I am 5'8" 215lbs- (sadly, I have hips and thighs.......) should I go with the women's large or switch to the men's large- I am concerned that they will nit fit my waist- (THAT is nice and small!) HELP!
Hi Amy- Good question. My first inclination is to recommend a Men's large. However, I'm afraid that the knee portion will slide down too much based on your height. One option is to look at the Men's CW-X Performx Tights. On this model it's not as necessary to osition the knee cap in exactly the right place. So this may work for you and you will still get Medial and Letral knee support, IT band support and hip support. Hope this answers your question.
Love these tights! I got them for a half marathon and it turned out to be 16 miles and they got me through it. My legs felt great. Also Backcountry is the shiz! I love this site and will order everything for my running with them. They are fast and get your purchases right out to you. I can't say enough good about them and the tights.

Need help deciding on the right tight for IT band trouble. After long runs I'm sore in my outer knee. I also have occasional hip flexor issues. Size recommendation would be so appreciated too. I'm 5'4" and 115 lbs. Thanks so much!
Hi There. The CW-X Stabilyx Tight is a great product for overall support around the knee, lower back, and HIps. However For IT band specific support, you will want check the Performx Tights which Backcountry stocks also. The CW-X Performx Tights were specifically designed for medial and lateral knee support, quad support, and IT band support that stretches from the hips down to the calf area. The IT support band on the Performx tights is wide and hits the right sports for IT issues. At 5'4 and 115 you are between XS and Small. If you have strong legs (not skinny) and you carry some of your weight in the hips and glutes, go for the Small. If you are skinny through the legs/hips/waist, then go for the XS. Good luck.
I probably wouldn't go as far and say that these are the "right" tight for IT band issues, but these would be the "best" tight from the selection of CW-X tights that we offer. These tights would help IT issues (I know first hand) but it won't completely solve your problems 100%. Specific stretches, as well as some rest time and some icing will all be beneficial.
Having said that, these tights will help deter IT band issues along with the treatment above. I have a pair of them and I find them very helpful, especially for those long runs and downhill sections when your IT band can flare up the most. If you are hesitant on what size to get, I'd recommend the XS. I am in between sizes as well, but I felt sizing down was the best choice I could have made.
These are great! It's a feat of logistics and creativity trying to get them on, but they are well worth the effort. The muscle support is really good and my legs feel so less fatigued after a run. I can't imagine running in anything else and I'm now eagerly awaiting delivery of another pair.
Hi there!
I'm really excited to buy these tights but not
Hi there!
I'm really excited to buy these tights but not so sure about sizing! I'm 5'6" @ 150 lbs- which says a M. BUT- I've got some thick legs & calves with a little belly. Should I go for a large? I don't want to compromise support on the knees, that's very important to me.
Hi Anna- For the CW-X Stabilyx Tights, you should be wearing a size Medium. As mentioned by another user, the tights stretch very well and will accommodate a range of body types including thick calves and and legs. You will get good support with the Stabilyx Tights if you go for the medium.
If you're in the medium, don't size up. They will look tiny when you get them and they're hard to get on (put them on like stockings, little by little) but if you want to knee support you want them to be tight the way they're made to be. I was on the border of small and medium but I'm glad I went with the small because I need the knee support and it seems the medium would have been just like regular tights, so not as supportive. They're worth it, I haven't been able to run without having terrible knee pain for years but I don't have any pain in my knees with these, I even wear the capri version snowboarding sometimes as an underlayer.
I found the insulated CW-X Stabilyx tights when I was looking for a quality tight for outdoor winter running (Pacific NW) that was wind/water resistant, warmer, but would still breathe and be light weight and easy to move in for running. When they first arrived I thought, "Uh oh...these are tiny! I should have sized up--double!" But I read the "instructions" that came with them and oh, my...what an awesome fit! No more jiggle...they look great and most important--my thighs, knees and calves do great throughout the run! (I'm 54, 155 lbs, and have back and knee issues. I was nervous about IT band injuiries since I had already experienced some tenderness and sharp pains when running, so I spent the big bucks for these. The satisfaction guarantee was the final piece that pushed me over the edge with confidence to submit the order) With weather warming (we hope anyway) I ordered the regular Stabilyx and the capri version. The regular stabilyx tights give me the same top performance the insulated ones did. If you want the tights to do what CW-X say they do--GO WITH the size recommendation!! I will not run in anything else! SOLD for life!

Write your question here...I am 5'3" and 125 lbs. I run 3-5 times a week and will be training for my 1st marathon next spring. I have hip and quad pain after most long runs. Which CW-X tights would be best for me? The web site suggests Pro in size small...is this what I should order?
Hi Mary. For most support in the hip and quad area, you definitely want to look at the CW-X Pro Tight. This design offers the most support through the core (hips, lower back, etc) and provides excellent support in the Quads and hamstrings. Probably the best design for Road Running. Based on the CW-X size chart, you are a size small. Backcountry has Women's Pro tight in stock now. Good luck.
I definitely feel the support. In fact, I really notice it when I'm already sore and then put the tights on. Maybe it is mental, but I literally feel better. They are not very warm. So if it is below freezing you will want more on your legs. Otherwise I've been very happy. They do fit pretty tight, so expect good compression. They are also a little short. I am 5-9 and 132 lbs. I got mediums and they are a tad short for my taste.
I am 5'8 and 128lbs. I'm thinking about ordering a Small
I am 5'8 and 128lbs. I'm thinking about ordering a Small to make sure I have enough compression, but I'm a bit worried about the length. Would a Medium be a better choice for length and still provide the right amount of compression?
I'm 5'6" 135 pounds and I ordered the small, I just got them today and they fit like a glove, not too tight around the waist at all. I definitely would not go a size up, and they don't stop short they go all the way to the ankle.
These tights are amazing! I thought they might be a gimmick, but they are absolutely fabulous! My measurements weren't even on the chart, so I was perplexed as to which size to choose. Small or Med??? I am 5'9" and 130ish, athletic/hourglass build. I tried one of each and either could work, but opted for the med since they gave me more length and the higher rise gave more back support. The stablix is a great all around support tight. I have some of the other styles and they're all fab, but this one probably has the most areas covered as far as support. They wash up well (I don't dry them). I've used them a lot and they still look and feel great! Once you try them, you'll be hooked!
I own a pair of these stabilyx tights, they are so awesome I
I own a pair of these stabilyx tights, they are so awesome I want another pair. The only thing is, I own a size small and it is comfortable it bunches a little behind the knee when running but not bad. But I was reading the size chart and it seems I fall into the XS category. I am 5ft and weigh 120. I'm just worried the XS would be unbearably tight and cut off circulation. As is the seams in the small leave imprints in my skin for around 15 minutes after I remove them. My legs are thicker. What would you suggest?
Kathryn. Small is the right size for you. Don't worry about the bunching up behind the knee. As long as the tights are comfortable on your waist and around your quads, hips, etc you are fine. and yes, the flat internal seams do leave a little indentation in your legs. Just shows you the support/compression is working and you have a proper fit.
At 120, your weight falls into the XS size, but also at the bottom end of the S. Since you're a bit shorter than the range for S, that's probably why they're bunching behind the knees a bit (just about all of my pants do that...I'm short too). If you have a small and they're comfortable, go with that size. It sounds like the small is tight enough. Why change if the size is working for you?
I am 175 cm (about 5'7")and 58 kg (about 124 pounds), and size M barely fits me. So please before you remove the tag from these pants make sure they fit you good. The length from the knee to upper thigh could be longer for size M, it would have helped a lot. For running or gym training pants are excellent. I had both shins broken with furhter microcirculation problems, these pants allow me to increase my workout time and reduce recovery time.
Hello there. Very good question. Did you use our tights finder on CW-X.com? and you did not get the answers you were looking for? Anyhow, the CW-X Stabilyx tight is our best Stability tight that supports Knees, Lower back, Hips, and Quads and is best for high impact activities that have a lot of movement from side to side. For example Trail running, Skiing, Hiking, etc. The Pro tight works best for constant motion activities that are not as high impact. For example Road running, Nordic skiing, etc. The pro tight does not have the knee support like in the Stabilyx, but it does offer more Hamstring support. Versatx is a softer support system that only focuses on Hips and lower abs. The performx tight is new and focuses on support through the IT band specifically. it only offers medial and lateral knee support (just on the sides of the knee). The Stabilyx tight is the best all around tight if you plan to use it for a variety of activities as a base layer or an outer layer. Hope this helps answer your question.

Hi There- Here is my response to another customer..... I would go with the Stabilyx Tight for overall performance.

I've been suspicious of the idea that a pair of tights can really make a difference, but finally shelled out the $$ to give these a try as recovery tights based on a friend's recommendation. Wow -- I am sure glad I did! Activities that normally leave me feeling creaky (a week of backcountry skiing, all-day bike climbing sufferfests, etc.) no longer do. I just pull on the tights for a few hours after the adventure, and not only can continue to stay upright long enough to cook dinner and chase my daughter afterward, but also can ride hard again the next day.
125lb, 5'5", big cyclist thighs. According to the size chart on the CW-X website, this is a size S (weird, because I wear a M in almost everything else), but the S fits quite well -- just takes a minute or so to work them into place. They felt great right out of the package; the knee stabilization is particularly noteworthy.
Hi Joyce. If you haven't done so already, I would get a size Med. They need to fit like a second skin. Not too tight and definitely not too loose. You are right in between our size S and M. In cases like this, we usually size up. You may have some extra length on your ankle area, but as long as the knee is positioned properly and the waist sits in the right place, you will be fine.
The inside raised seam in the crotch is way too uncomfortable simply trying them on to imagine doing any athletic activity in them. And unsightly on the outside the way it digs in. They otherwise fit.

I am looking for compression tights
Write your question here... I am looking for compression tights that are wicking. I am recovering from DVT (deep vein thrombosis) and have been wearing medical stockings. I need something that I can use when I hike/back pack and get back into my work out routine. Has anyone had any experience with DVT and have you used these compression tights after DVT? Also, what is the compression strength on these?
Debbie- Just saw your question now. CW-X Tights are not specifically sold as a medical grade compression product. However, the patented CW-X support Web on the tights does offer a targeted support and compression benefit. To answer your question directly, the areas of the tight that do not have the Support web have a 15-20 mmHg rating. The support web has a 20-25 mmHg rating. so what you get is a more targeted type of support and compression where the muscles are rather than overall compression of the entire leg. This is key in athletics where you want the support and compression in the key muscle areas but not all around. Hope this helps you. We have had many customers who greatly benefit from the design and function of the CW-X Tights.

I am 5'1 and weigh about 120lbs. I am concerned about size. Should I get the S or XS? Legs are skinny, however mid section is where I carry all my chubs.
I would definitely recommend getting S rather than XS. I'm 5'6" 110 lbs, definitely have a bit fat around stomach but not much. I went with a size small and it was a good fit, albeit just a tad tight at the waist, but not uncomfortable.
I was skeptical of these pants at first but I have to admit that this has been one of the best purchases I have made for my marathon training and I plan on buying many more CW-X pants for my future races. I wear them during my long runs 5-25 miles and so far they have DRASTICALLY reduced my recovery time, soreness and injury pain. I have bad shin splints and problems with my hamstrings and posterior tibial muscles. I was able to run 10 miles with no pain or soreness or swelling. They feel lightweight and fit well; I am short 5'1" and I weigh 130. I was worried the placement of the exoskeleton on the pants wouldn't work for me but they work very well, with a size small. I would HIGHLY refer these to anyone looking at having a great pair of pants that will enhance their training endeavors or any type of running in general!
Help, after reading the reviews I am even more confused about
Help, after reading the reviews I am even more confused about which size to buy. I am a freak about trying things on before I buy, so this is hard for me. I am 5' 3", 125 lbs, which puts me into both the XS and S sizes. I don't want them to be so tight that they're uncomfortable, but I like things to be pretty snug, and since I'm wanting knee support I'm scared the small might be too long and not do their job properly. Anyone around my size with suggestions?
I have a few pairs of CW-X tights (which I love, by the way), and judging by your dimensions, you'd be much happier with the XS in my opinion. I fall in between sizes as well and I sized down. They won't be too tight on you to the point that they are uncomfortable.
There is a review below of someone buying the XS who is 5'2" 118 and said that they fit perfectly. Hope this helps!
I recently started training for a half-marathon, though up to now, I've absolutely HATED running! (Turning 35 will do funny things to your motivation). My knees caused me quite a bit of problems when I first started training, not to mention my legs getting tired very quickly. But, with these pants, my knees and legs feel so much better!
They might be pricey, but if you're serious about running distances and feeling better doing so... you HAVE to get these pants... or the 3/4 length, I have those too and they are GREAT for warmer weather.
I just received my 3/4 length tights in XS and am really not
I just received my 3/4 length tights in XS and am really not sure about the size. They fit snugly as everyone says they should but they seem to cut in behind the knee and at the calf. I'm 5'0, 105lbs and petite build. Should I buy a size up or get the long tights? How do they hold up after washing?
They do seem to cut in a bit at the knee when you first try them on, but I have found that once you start running and sweating, they fit perfectly. If they fit everywhere else, I would stick with the smaller size, because they are compression pants and you will lose some of the benefits if they're too loose. If you're not comfortable, then I would try the full length tights (maybe in the ventilator version for warmer weather).
What I missed to mention is, the size is true to body. In other words when you wear a medium you want to order a medium.
These pants are a little tight to put on. But when you know how to pull them up correctly it's a pc. of cake :) Trick: pull them from the bottom up - NOT on the waistband.
I bought these pants about 6 weeks ago with the thought on my mind I could wear these for running and for skiing. Well, these CW-X Stabilyx Tight turn out to be worth every penny! My knees feel great, and I don't get as sore.
Not if you wander around in just tights. If you're running, then yes, assuming you have the right clothes on top. - I highly recommend you check out the CW-X Insulator Tights they work great as a base layer in frigid weather.
I ran a long run, 16 miles, in my pants Christmas morning and I absolutely love the pants. They are great in cold weather, they stay up instead of falling below my waist as I run and I could really feel the support at the knee. Thanks to my husband for the Christmas gift!
The Stabilyx line offers one more feature than the Performx and that is an abdominal support panel for extra support to your lower abs, hips, and back. Hope this helps.
I was a bit concerned about the snug fitting descriptions I'd read about the CW-X tights. Even with regular running tights I had always purchased a large for my curvy shape. But this time I read all the other reviews and the manufacturer's recommendations and bought the medium for my 5'4" 135lb body with the 30" inseam. They go much like stockings, but give a whole lot more support and are very sturdy. I would recommend these tights to anyone. I love these for winter runs and have used them solo for runs about 15 degrees. For lower temps, I add another thin layer to the top. They have been comfortable on runs 3 to 8 miles so far. They have become my go-to run pants.

I'm 5'1, 118lbs. The sizing chart says I should get an XS, however my waist is borderline S/XS. If I get one size larger, will that affect the fit all that much?
I am 4'10" and about your same weight. I wear the XS. The S was a little big for me and I like my waist to fit up against my body. Honestly, the waist was where I noticed the most difference in the XS and S. I had to use the draw strings a lot more on then S than the XS. If in doubt, do what I did...order both sizes and see for yourself. Then send back the one that didn't fit and exchange it for the size that did. I think once you try these you will want 2 pairs...not just one!
I had really high expectations for these tights based on other reviews and the high pricetag. I ordered them because I've been having some knee/hamstring issues when I run, and I thought they might help. I am 5'4" 117 lbs and I ordered the small. They fit fine, but I do have to tie the waist or they start to fall down as I run. The first few times I didn't tie the waist tight enough and the area where my knee is supposed to be ended up sliding down to my shin. Now that I have that figured out they are fine. I have run 12 miles in them with no problems, and I like the compression. I will have to run longer in them to determine if they truly help with fatigue in the muscles. If they do, I think they are worth the price.
These are not hiking pants, but high-tech running tights. I love them for running, but would find them too tight, too restrictive, and not warm enough for the kind of hiking you're wanting to do. Get some "looser" pants that you can layer under on the 20-degree days, and that you can put on/take off much easier than these.
I too read all these reviews and said Naaa! How could some pair of tights do all this. Well! They are just plumb awesome. Bought the CW-X Stabilyx Tight for ski season, to help hold the knee's and leg muscles tougher. Bought a size medium and squished my butt, thick thighs in them. Oh, I am 5'5", weight mostly muscle, let's say 170 lbs. Only issue I had was that my tourso is ling and these tights I felt like pulling them up. Open ski day, I wore these, temps were 19 to 22 degrees, they were on the margin of keeping legs warm. Any colder I would pull on an extra layer. But, they are awesome. Took them off at the end of the day and wanted to put them back on. By keeping all your muscles intact, providing stability and warmth very little fatigue encounted. Once on, you feel like superwoman/man, just need your racing suit. Will defintly buy another pair and shorter ones for biking.
I am skeptical of product descriptions and claims and you can't always trust reviews because we're all built differently and have different needs and expectations. HOWEVER, these things ARE amazing! I've been having trouble with one of the lateral ligaments in my left knee when I run, but when I wear these babies......NO pain!!! I noticed that my legs don't feel as tired after a run and that I don't have any hip flexor pain (although that's in intermittent problem, so who knows). I purchased these, the ventilators and the performix regular and insulated. I think I like the stablix and ventilator best all around, but the others are great too. I am 5'9" 130-135 lbs (athletic legs) and ordered small and med since I wasn't even on the size chart. Either size worked fine, but the small seemed short on me and I could barely tell any difference in the compression. They are high waisted, but have to be to give support in the lower back. I didn't find them hard to get on and off and they wash up well.
Definitely gave the right support in the right areas for those quick 10 milers in the morning. Unfortunately I have a 34" inseam, so they were a little short in all areas, but a pretty nice tight all the same. I would like to see the back rise be a little longer for more lower back support. I have tried the men's, but they are just not the same. Any chance you will cater to tall sizing any time soon. Nice Tight, I would recommend.
Got these for my wife upon her request. These are her first supportive compression tights and she loves them. She has even talked her friends into getting them, as they are "so great!"
I used these tights for a run on a cloudy 40 degree day and they were nice and toasty. Have yet to try them on a 60-70 degree day. However, I did use them for spring skiing a week ago. Sunny, 45-50 degree weather. I used them underneath my North Face hyvent shells and my legs were comfortable. Not sweaty at all. I intend to compare them with the 3/4 CW-X Stabilyx Tights within the next few days when temps will be in the 60-70 degree range.
I bought these for telemark skiing and to wear while training in the gym. Fantastic product and workmanship and they really help reduce fatigue and overall soreness after a hard training session. I have really low blood pressure and used to get very light headed as I trained and blood pooled in my lower body. These tights help heaps so no more head spins and swollen ankles for me! I haven't skied in them yet and will update this once I've given them a good run at Red.
love love love! Like running in an ace bandage (in a good way)- my muscles and joints are very happy for the support. Too bad i was deterred by the previous comments and went a size larger than the manufacturer recommendations. I'm 5' 7" and 120 lb - ordered up to a size Medium and although they ARE snug, the knee could be a little more form fitting. Wish I had kept faith in the sizing.
There just aren't any better supportive tights than these. I was diagnosed with a meniscus tear and bone bruise and didn't want to have surgery. I chose these tights and a knee brace and have been pain free for two weeks. I really never take these tights off as you can even wear them under jeans. I just love them. They are warm, lightweight and give support in all the right places. I just might need three pair instead of two!
First of all, love Backcountry.com. Their prices rock. These tights are the bomb. I found out I have a meniscus tear, bone bruise and other fun things that made my knee pain unbearable. Dr. said surgery was inevitable, but I wear a pair of these tights and a knee brace and I'm good!! I've tried to run without these tights and there is a big difference, not a good one either! I wear them all the time. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
I'm reading the other reviews and feel like a curmudgeon not to give them 5 stars, but.... The design is nice. I find the compression fine but unremarkable. I have non-compression Zoots, Pearl Izumis, and even Nike tights that I like just as well for fit, feel, and weather protection. But maybe I haven't done enough hard-core running in them to fully appreciate what they do. What downright aggravates me about them is that they don't have ankle zips. Fer heaven's sake--if I'm going to pay $100 for tights, can't I at least get ankle zips? However, when I asked a backcountry.com rep about it, she said ankle zips would compromise the muscle stabilizing capability. Arrrgggh! I want it all. But I'll trade muscle compression for zips in the future. (There's more than you wanted to know.)
These are awesome! I've worn them all winter in MN with temperatures ranging from -20 to 25 degrees F and they haven't let me down yet. The extra small fit me perfectly (5' 95 lbs) and weren't too long! yay
After wanting a pair for ages, I am pleased to finally be running in my new stabilyx tights. I love the muscle/joint support, and the overall snug feel. The sizing (M for my 5'5", 140lb frame) was right on, and I don't mind the peel on/peel off procedure. Not all roses though, and shy of 5 stars for the crotch-seam that could have been eliminated with a slightly different construction. Here's hoping more users say so, and that they change it in the future. At that time, I'll buy another pair!
I've never had compression running tights and now I'm a convert. I don't even want to run a long run without them. Yes they are tight, but they fit true to size for me. I'm 5' 8" and 147 and took a medium. Worth the price. Will probable get a second pair in a capri length for spring.
I had a knee injury last year, while training for a marathon. It took a full 6 months to recover. I have always been interested in these tights, but the price prevented me from purchasing them. I started runnig again a few months ago, decided to give them a try. I love them! They give good support to my knee area, they feel wonderful on. The sizing can be tricky. I am 5'6" and weigh 135. I have an athletic build. I ordered a small and medium, being in between sizes. The medium was too large, especially in the waist. The small fit and feel perfect! They look pretty small out of the package. Don't let that fool you. I love them so much I bought a pair of the 3/4 tights and the insulator stabilyx for cold snowy days. They are worth every penny!
Definitely trust the sizing chart for performance fit. I have another pair of CW-X tights that I purchased too large and they do not provide the proper support. Love these tights!!!!
I love these tights. I'm 5'4" and 125 lbs. I ordered a small and they fit perfectly. My sisters and I (4 of us) ordered these for a 1/2 marathon we ran in Dallas in December. The tights were great - the compression really helped.
These tights are the bee's knees... the cat's meow...the geezer's get-up-and-go! These tights have amazing support in the legs and really help my circulation. And the back support? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.........
Dont be afraid of size XS if you are short and/or have narrow legs. I found XS to be the right size for me in this style, which is odd because I cant wear size small pantyhose--theyre so tight they hurt. But in these Stabilyx tights Im an XS. The first time I wore them I was uncertain. The second time they seemed to magically be the right size. I also tried on sizes M and S but they were too big around the leg (relatively big, but still like tights), and the thighs were too long (though the shins never were). So, size XS it is. FYI, Im five two, with a twenty eight inch waist. NB - if you have large ankles or calves, you will NOT be happy with the cuffs on the XS, youll absolutely have to size up.
Before buying these tights, I carefully read all reviews and double-checked sizing. According to size charts I should be a S-M. I ordered the M and I can barely get into them...I am 5"5 and 133 lbs-- curvy, muscular build, no unnatural bulges or lumps. I know these are supposed to be compression tights and fit very snug, but these were so tight that they were unncomfortable. Not sure if I'm going to exchange for the large or just send them back.
I originally purchased the small but it was quickly apparent that they were too small for me. So I sent them back and got a medium which appears to be the right width for my chunky thighs but they are too long (I'm 5'2") and I have to keep hiking them up to keep the knee area in the right place. So, they're ok but I wouldn't recommend them if you are between sizes. Might be okay if you are tall and slender and in between sizes (ending up with a too short pant) but not the other way around.
I play roller derby and I can not stress enough how much these tights have help me. My legs DO NOT fatigue like they did when I wasn't wearing them. The overall support is amazing! My back and knees have never felt better! I forget I even have them on until one of my teammates say "Hey great looking tights you got there". lol! Make more colors please!!
These tights are everything they claim WRT tightness, supportiveness and a strong-feeling fabric. In addition they include a tiny pocket for keys that is missing from some other brands.
A little expensive, but worth it. While they are snug, I should have gone with a small which is the recommended size for my weight. I let the reviews scare me into buying the next size up. I am going to buy a second pair and maybe a third. I wear them all the time and will run my first 1/2 marathon in them next month.
Wow....I cannot rave enough about these tights. I am recovering from runner's knee from overuse for the past 4 weeks and have had to wear a knee sleeve on my power-walks; not anymore. I can feel the tights straightening my knee out when I put them on. I will put them to the test tomorrow, but so far, just trying them on was super for me. By the way, I am 5'1" and weight 151 lbs. and the "S" fit me perfect from top to bottom.
FYI...I also bought two pairs of the CW-X Pro tights. Again, I love those just as much as the Stabilyx tights. I use the Stabilyx for different things than the Pro tights. On cooler days, I run in the Pro tights. I tend to use the Stabilyx for recovering after a long run. I'm glad I bought both. They are fabulous and can be worn out in public because they really are cool looking.
I had an accident and I try all kind of tights to realease pain in my leg, but no one like CW-X Stabilyx to provide a great support and realease lot of pain. If you never try it, it is time to get the confort you need and doctors prescribe it to as medical appliances.
Look superb and not being shy to work at the rehab center gym with these marvelous tight.
These tights are great for running. They seem to help stabilize my legs. The only down-side: They are a little short, so I end up with a gap between tight-leg and sock...
Would love to find something like these that are not really uncomfortable in the crotch area. Even trying on with double fabric underwear - they need to put the seam somewhere that doesn't create such a major digging in to one problem. Don't know how others put up with this since I sent them back before trying anything athletic in them
I definitely noticed a difference in the support in my lower back and knees. I have ACL and my knee feels really secure when running even on uneven terrain. Overall I felt less fatiqued after a long run. Now I have to get the insulator tights for the cold weather. I have run in these in 30 degree weather and they were warm enough but any colder I would want a warmer tight.
