Cutter Drome Cable Lock

Item # CUT0020

Sling Cutter’s Drome Cable Lock over your shoulder and get your ass downtown. Whether you’re rollin’ your Burning Man cruiser or your track-worthy fixed gear into town, Cutter’s armor-covered Drome Cable Lock puts your cherished ride on lockdown. Long enough to wear over a shoulder, lock around a tree, and fit both your steed and your forgetful buddy’s, this thicker-than-a-chubby-kid’s-thumb cable lock seats you at the bar completely free of bike-theft paranoia. Plus, striking fear into the hearts of car windows everywhere, the Drome is a weighty deterrent against raging motorists. Cutter hooks you up with two keys that have to be turned simultaneously like nuclear strike code keys to work. Just kidding, the keys are normal. Cutter just figures you’ll lose keys like Russia loses nukes. Shit happens, right?

Bottom Line:

A chastity belt for your bike. No touching!!

Absolute crap

By:

This thing is terrible. I bought two. The first, the key broke so I had to cut the lock off (which was pretty easy). The second, the key no longer turns in the lock, so it's worthless as well.

Bomber Lock..

By:

This lock is solid. I refer to it as the Urban Anaconda. Puts your bike in a strangle hold and keeps it away from slippery fingered, bike stealing bastards. The lock and key setup is dope. Easy to operate after multiple tall boys. Good price..

Cuts in an instant

By:
January 18, 2010

Had mine locking my bike in a parking garage and the next morning it was cut. Looked at the security cameras and was cut with a small pair of bolt cutters. It is just a super thin wire surrounded by aluminum. Crap Lock. Get a U-Lock!

How long is this?

How long is this?

Stephen - do you mean 38" diameter or circumference? If 38" diameter, then the cable would be almost 10 feet long (38" * pi), which would be unusually long for this type of cable.

Dr. Jones is right - the Cutter Drome lock fits comfortably over your shoulder rambo style. The inner diameter measures 38". The inline style of the locking mechanism gives this bike lock a rounded shape that fits well when slinging the lock over your shoulder.

Needs to be longer

By:
August 5, 2011

Got this for a great deal off of ChainLove.com. Very limited as to where I can use it because it's so short. In my parking garage I have little to work with so I have to lock it through the fork.

Cutter Drome Cable Lock

By: Departmentofgoods.com Employee

This lock is quite thick, and the plastic exterior finish won't scuff or scratch your bike. I thought it might be slightly longer (100cm = 39.5") but it is long enough for the job most of the time. I think the lock itself is nice, I'm just a bit let down by the keys. One key was slightly bent when I got it, and I feel like I have to be careful not to bend or snap the key when I'm unlocking. Other than that this is good, beefy lock, especially for the price.

It gets the job done.

The key is a little sticky but always works and I could do with it being an inch or two longer, but otherwise I really like this lock. Can easily lock both the frame and front wheel to large objects. It's heavy stuff, so while it's not quite u-lock territory, I'm not a bit worried in the low-crime area I'm in right now. The rubbery coating hasn't gotten scratched up yet, so we'll see how that lasts. And the best part is that wearing it like a bandoleer feels both badass and comfortable.

Still Have My Bike ;)

By:
April 15, 2011

Used this lock to keep my bike attached to my Yakima rack on a week-long mountain biking trip down to southern Utah a couple weeks ago, and didn't experience any sticky fingers. This is a mean looking lock. Seems to shrink the hopes of thieves before they even attempt :) Would recommend to anyone looking for a sturdy, intimidating way to keep there two wheeled buddy safe. Only difference I would make is have the lock about 18" longer so it can accommodate both wheels and the frame, otherwise you can only fit the frame and front wheel through the lock.

Awe-inspiring

People can't believe that it's a lock. seriously the most intimidating bike lock I have ever come across. If I were a thief, the bike locked up with this would not be the one I would steal.

Great lock

I've been using the Cutter Drome Cable Lock for (give or take) a year and a half now and it's been the perfect lock for quick trips around town... to the grocery store, brunch, etc. When I know I'm not going to be off my bike for too long and don't want to carry my Cutter Commuter U-Lock around, I just sling this bad boy over my shoulder and I'm good to go. If I know my bike will be locked up for longer periods of time, at night, and/or in sketchy areas, I'll use this in conjuction with the u-lock.

Solid.

By:
November 17, 2009

The Cutter Drome is the perfect bike lock. I have had this lock for almost a year and the lock still works like new. The size is what does it for me. It is big enough so that I can lock 3 bikes together around a pole or street sign when with friends but with one bike you can lock it to anything. It is a perfect size to sling around a shoulder even if you are wearing a backpack. If you would rather it be inside your pack then you can twist it up to half its size. Bottom line is this thing is thick and beefy, nothing to worry about when your bike is locked up with this guy.

sturdy cable, efficient lock

By:
October 15, 2009

This is my main lock; I used to use an OnGuard mini U with a cable for the wheels. This is much more convenient, although I don't know about relative security. Carry it looped twice around the headset. It is too short to carry bandoleer style across the chest. If there was one complaint, it would be that the lock should be a bit longer, making it possible to secure two bikes (frame & front wheel) side by side in a rack

Lock-n-Load(ed)...

By:
May 18, 2009

I got this lock on Bonktown a few weeks ago and have used it several times...I would use it more, but I just don't need it all of the time...Anyway, it's definitely a "user friendly" lock. You can sling it around your shoulder and you won't even feel it. It can be rolled up to a very compact storing size. It's very well built. Only one "con"...the lock tumbler can be stubborn (at times) and you may have to try once or twice to get it to work... don't get me wrong, it does work...just not silky smooth. I recommend this as a lock you can transport and use on a daily basis...oh yeah, it is well protected, will not scar or mar your ride...

how do you know what the cable was cut with? it wasn't tin snips. possibly a bolt cutter? it would be hard to cut this with bolt cutters even, with the shielding over the cable
