The soft Columbia Steens Mountain Fleece Jacket keeps your toddler boy cozy on cool weather jaunts, or playdates in the backyard. Columbia made this fuzzy jacket from its Maximum Thermal Retention fleece, which is quick-drying and doesn't pill. It also stretches when he stretches, so he won't feel constricted. The Steens Mountain Fleece even sheds water, so he'll stay dry in light precipitation.
Bottom Line:
Give your toddler extra insulation on chilly days.

Just wondering if this fleece would look okay for a girl as I like the navy colour but its not available in the girls style - or are the girls and boys styles the same just different colours? Thanks
the Steens and Benton Springs are primarily different in color choices in kid's models. There is a minor difference in paneling and styling. It is nearly impossible to see
I bought two jackets for my sons, ages 1 1/2 and 3 years old. The jackets are what you would expect, soft, warm fleece material, not bulky, and good for cool weather. I read the reviews that the jackets are small, but whoa! I bought a 4T for my 3 year old, and it's too small. I bought a 2T for my 1 1/2 year old and it's too small too. My youngest is chunky, so that's not too surprising, but my 3 year old is 100% true to size with every brand we have ever bought. I thought a size up ought to do it, but I will be returning to exchange for 2 sizes up for both kiddos!
Here my son is 26 months old I think, about 25lbs, wearing a 2T, fits fine. I think I made the mistake in saying this was 3T in other photos/reviews. He actually had 4 jackets.... 12 months, 18 months, 2t and 3t. Today I will order a 4t.
I would definitely buy up a size if you can. I bought a 3T and 4T thinking that he could wear the 3T now and 4T for next spring or possibly winter. Well my son is 3-1/2 and the 3T is way too small and the 4T is not going to last with my boy growing so fast. The jacket doesn't come down too far and the sleeves are pretty short for a 4T. Its a great jacket, but just runs small. Hope this helps?
Sooo cute! This jacket fits my little toddler perfectly. He's a little big for his age. So, he's not quite two and he wears a 3T in this jacket. I think their worth the money. Especially because their classic, and comfortable for busy toddlers!!
My son is 17 months and loves this jacket, because it's not too bulky, but keeps him warm. The price was right so I had to buy it in 2T, 3T, and 4T. He's set for the next 3 years!
This is my 21 month old's favorite jacket. He doesn't scream when I put it on. Ha! It is true to size, lightweight yet warm, and VERY cute on. We love it!
The grey stripe on the side gives this jacket a little bit of flair. It's a good looking, good quality jacket which fits my son very well. For the price, this is a great purchase!
I've owned 3 of these now. My son has been wearing these jackets since the age 1. We bought 12 month, 2T and 3T as he grew. He absolutely LOVES them and so do we.
They are warm and versatile. He can wear it alone or under any other coat. We put him in this in the fall or during those cool summer nights, and later in the fall he wears the jacket under another light weight coat. It's great!
In the winter, he can wear it as a "sweater" over his clothes, because the jacket is soft and comfortable, not bulky. So it doesn't feel like he's wearing a coat.
It's a simple, clean design. Lots of great colors to chose from. Not frumpy or down dressed at all if you want to take your child out to dinner, yet casual enough to wear daily.
The jackets wash incredibly! It's one of the best products we have bought in terms of durability. The jacket gets washed weekly and it doesn't pile or stretch, nor shrink.
I cannot say enough great things about this jacket. I'm about to order my (his) 4th one today. The sale prices on backcountry.com are unbeatable too!
We love these fleeces and for the price this is a must have. We have bought a new one for our son each time he out grows the previous size. It's perfect for early fall and spring type weather. We've had both the blue and the dark red and we have been happy for both colors.
My 3 going 4 year old son loves these. He's a slim frame and they fit well, not super tight, but not bulky so suitable as mid-layer. The intense red is more on the orange red side, and the cocoa is pretty cool. Overall, they are good quality and reasonably priced, would recommend as daily wear.
We have this in the dark brown for our 2 year old. I didn't read the other recommendations to buy a larger size, but it is a good idea. G is thin and average height and the 3T fits him perfectly now (I had wanted it to work for next winter) so if you want growing room, definitely order a size or two larger than normal. Other than that, we are very happy with this fleece; it's great for southern winters.
He's about 25 lbs, 26 months old, average size. Fits nicely. But the 4T fits him just as well, so order up if you like. He's still wearing his 3T at 31 months/30lbs. Fits fine.
We buy one of these every year for our son, and he loves it. It is warm enough to wear in most weather, zips easily, and is lightweight enough to buckle into a carseat safely and easily. We love this fleece, and backcountry.com always has the best price.
I bought the intense red and bright blue for my son! These jackets are his favorites. They are so very soft, light, and warm. I am surely going to buy some more when he grows out of the ones that he has.
The jacket is cool and does what it says it does. The body of the jacket is rather big compared in size to the arms on the jacket. It makes my kid look chunky when he is not - however he is very happy and cosy in it so we have no complaints at all.
The sizes run VERY small. My 18 month old is wearing size three and it just fits. My three year old is wearing size four and it just fits. Size up if you want to wear anything bulky underneath. Not as thick as I anticpated.
These are the 2nd and 3rd of these coats that I have bought for my son and I love them! He seems to stay warm in the Michigan fall and spring months and sometimes even too warm. They do run a little short and wide but fit just like a men's waist length coat which is what I think Columbia is going for. My son is tall and skinny and his 12-18 month coat fit (even in the arm length) until he was 19 months old. I bought the bright blue and the grill gray and both look great with his blue eyes. I would definitely recommend this GQ jacket for your little one with style!
I got my son the Bonsai, which is such a cute, bright green (a little lighter than in the picture). He's 15 months and I got the 2T for this winter, which should work if he doesn't have a huge growth spurt in the next 3 months. However, just to be safe, I also ordered a 3T that he can wear this year or next.
I bought two of these fleeces for my son and nephew who wear a 3T. I bought the 4T after reading the other reviews. The 4T JUST fits both of them....I bought the dark brown and the jacket is adorable...but definitely order up. I'm happy considering I only paid $10 for them!
Great, thin, warm jacket for little ones who need to be buckled in a carseat. Also is holding up well to frequent washing! He gets a lot of compliments on how cool he looks!
This is a great jacket for chilly days. I agree that the sizes run a bit small, I had to send the first jacket back to get a bigger size. The quality of the jacket is great. Most important, my son loves it.
Sizes are small. Had to order one size up, but I love it! We live in the south, so this jacket is light enough for most winter days, and perfect under a vest for colder days.
My kids have been wearing these jackets for a few years now - they're cheap, durable and washable - what more could you want for a kid? This jacket and a long sleeve shirt is perfect for most days of a moderate Southern winter.
