Bottom Line:
Let the Chaco Men's Flip Sandal flip-flop you all over town.
been wearing these for a about a week now, a litle difficult to put on at first but once you get used to them they are great. very well made and comfortable. threw my old sandles away after i felt what a good quality pair felt like.
These Chacos are the perfect thing after you've tortured your feet on trail, in biking shoes, climbing shoes or any other form of footwear. I have used these as my go-to sandals for a year now and they've been a lifesaver. They're great when you want the comfort that Chaco is known for, but your Z's are a little too much. They do run tight, so you'll either need to go through a callous-forming break in period or simply order a size up. I've never been able to wear flip-flops all day until I slipped these babies on and now, they rarely come off.
Chacos are sooo comfortable, but they weigh so much. Hard for me to justify carrying them all day in my backpack as camp shoes, but when I put them on I'm so glad I brought them along.
After being a loyal fan of both Reef and Teva Mush flip flops, I found a pair of Chaco Flip on sale and decided to give them a shot. Overall, I've concluded that while the Chaco Flip is not as comfortable as the Reefs and Tevas, they are much more durable.
I'll start with the soles. In the past I've easily worn through at least one pair of Tevas/Reefs each summer. The Chacos, on the other hand, sport Vibram soles and are very durable. They seem as though they will last for many years. Unfortunately, this durability comes at the expense of comfort and weight. In contrast to the the soft, squishy, light (3.4 oz) foam sandals I have worn in the past, the Chaco soles have a rough, hard, heavy (10.4 oz) design. At 3 times the weight of my old sandals, I am still adjusting to them. In addition to the durability of the soles, they have a better ergonomic fit and become grippier when wet which is a plus if you plan on wearing them in wet conditions. I've found that foam sandals get very slick when wet and provide little or no support. The strap is not as soft as the strap on Reefs and Tevas, but it is well made and fits well. I found no need to size up or down. Lastly, the sandals are more expensive than the foam variety, but this is warranted as they are likely to last much longer. All in all, these are very stylish and well-made sandals. If you are used to heavier shoes you will have no problem with them and will love the legendary Chaco durability and quality. However, if you like the squishy, soft feeling of lightweight foam flip flops (ala Teva Mush), I would suggest trying them on before pulling out your credit card.
My oldest version of these flips have Vibram soles. I bought
My oldest version of these flips have Vibram soles. I bought another pair a couple years after my first pari that did NOT have vibram soles. Needless to say, the second pair was not nearly as comfortable as the first. Does this version have vibram soles as shown in the photo, or are they the partially recycled sole?
yes the pro version is a vibram sole but beware it is a softer rubber for getting better grip, BUT it is a marking rubber as well (black marks on the floor). so while they may be more comfy or whatever they will wear down faster
Under the description, it says the sole is 'Ecotread' (25% recycled rubber) despite the picture showing Vibram. I have encountered this on many other sites while looking for the Vibram sole - they're all Ecotread unfortunately. Now there's a new flip called Chaco Vibram Pro which should be closer to what you're looking for.
these could be the best flip flop style sandals I've ever had. They're super comfortable and the soles on them are awesome for wearing everywhere. I took other reviews recommendations of getting a size bigger, but I don't think you need to once the straps stretch out and break in. Mine are a little big, but they fit fine and i'm happy with the purchase. They seem super durable and like they'll last a really long time.
I love these flip flops. I wear them almost everyday (I'm lucky enough to go to school in Southern California, and spend my summers in the NW) and have been wearing them for about five years now. The soles are starting to get a little worn down, and the fabric of the strap is also starting to show some wear. With that said, I've probably worn these sandals about 1,000 days out of the last 5 years. Incredible sandal with good arch support, comfortable toe strap, and good traction. These are great sandals. You get the Chaco bombproofness without always wearing the larger, heavier, (possibly less stylish, depending on your fashion choices) Z1 or Z2 sandal.
Best pair of flip-flops I've ever owned. Not a big fan of flip-flops in general, but these are amazingly comfortable. I mainly use them to take the dogs out on early summer mornings.
Answering my own question a few months later. Finally gave in and bought a pair but havent really had them by water until recently. Took my pup down to the lake behind my house and while i was there, I remembered that I wanted to test the chacos out to see if they would float. And they did. So no problems there. Just in case anyone was wondering or was looking at the previous response.
I got a pair of these after doing research on footwear that "actually" support your feet and don't just "look good". Chaco's are the BEST sandals my feet have ever stomped on! I'm a TOTAL convert. Goodbye Tevas, goodbye Reefs, and especially my meager pile of 3.99 fly by night flip-flops!!! Anyone need x-tra thick beach-themed drink coasters....seriously...
I wore these religiously walking the uneven streets of Playa Del Carmen, Cancun and Cozumel for 4 days straight. My feet were not as tired, they did not feel as sore and my arches were not cursing at me! This was a real test, I walked on the sandy beaches, got them wet repeatedly, cobble stone streets, toured Tulum in them, trotted through the cenote riddled mayan-owned jungles, shopped the overly-commercialized streets and even took them dancing on Playa Del Carmen's 5th street for about 6 hrs. After all that, feet were as happy as I was.
In terms of durability, they are outstanding. After my 2-week trip, the vibram soles showed NO WEAR...almost like I never wore them...AWESOME! They are very comfortable and they DID ACTUALLY support my arch! The only 'thing' I noticed is that after about 3 days of walking on them they did wear my skin a bit on the outside strap of each sandal. Hard to describe exactly where, outer-lower left on left foot & outer-lower right on right foot. Now this is MY fault because I took a flip-flop when I should have been wearing a trail-shoe or maybe even a boot. Being a former Teva & Reef man myself, the Chaco flip's straps do come back a bit farther than the average sandal, in order to create a more stable platform, however this is also what rubbed the skin on my feet raw. No blood or anything but it was sore and red. I only mention this because I was new to Chaco and this took some adjusting to after about 27hrs of wear. Don't let this deter you one bit, I liked them so much that as soon as I got back I bought myself another pair!!! A stylin' beach bum...am I
Chaco will resole or custom fit them if you so desire. Needless to say I'm moving in on the Chaco Z's now and they are all worth every penny. Plus Chaco is a very green company, for those that care.
Don't take my word for it...Buy a pair, your feet will thank you.
These are what I am looking for. Durable flip flops that feel great. I've used these for tons of activities and they always perform. THE best flip flop...
Let's face it. There's something to be said about paying fifty bucks for a pair of flip flops. Most people would think you were crazy. But these are well worth it.
I took a pair of these bad boys on a two month expedition through Philippine jungles last summer. I'm talking, several miles of tough terrain, in and out of riverbeds, and sitting out in the hot sun. And I STILL wear them, just about every day. They're unbeatable. You won't be disappointed, I promise.
Chaco is now making a Flip Pro with Vibram Pro soles, but they are a separate item http://www.chacousa.com/US/en-US/ViewProduct.mvc.aspx/19787M/0/Mens/Flip-Pro?galleryId=M-FLIP. The Vibram Pro sole is designed for water use, and unlike the Vibram Unaweep sole used in most of the Z line, the Vibram Pro sole is very soft and will leave black marks.
The EcoTread sole used on these Chaco Flips looks very similar to a Vibram sole, and is made from 25% recycled rubber, and is non-marking.
Affirmative. Indeed they do, TP. The Chaco Flips are probably THE best flip flops I've ever worn, hands down. The soles seem to last forever thanks to the Vibram rubber soles. Vibram rubber = bombproof... the Flip Sandals are too!
I could see these lasting me a few years. These flops are a good value! They are durable and I like the material. Dirt wipes up easily. The arch is great. It makes them easy to walk in.
I have owned many flip flops and never really though much of them, other than as a cheap substitute for shoes. These flops completely changed my outlook on what a flop is. They are just as comfortable as any shoe I have worn and are a must in any warm climate. They actually have arch and heel support, the footbed does not break down and they can be re-soled! Being as I'm from SLC, these flops pretty much do not leave my feet in the summer except to sleep and hike. The price may seem steep for a flop, but considering they will last for years, it's a very good deal.
Spent the entire summer of 2011 (give or take a couple adventures) in nothing but my Chaco Flips! Excellent support, stay on your feet and look great. There is a break-in period of about a week and a half if you're feet aren't used to Chaco's straps. But soon enough you'll forget there ever was an issue. I fully expect to get 1, if not 2 or 3, more summers out of these guys.
I've worn Havaianas for years for the ease of use when I'm driving tens of thousands of miles over the summer for work. For the most part I drive barefoot and needed something for getting in and out of the van. Unfortunately that led to a lot of pain and discomfort from my toes needing to grip them while walking. A fan of the Zs, I wear them non-stop whenever I'm not driving, I decided to give the Flips a chance.
It was the perfect solution. They fit snug and secure enough that your toes no long have to grip to keep them on and the sole provides ample support. They're a little harder to slip on and off but mine also aren't fully broken in yet.
Also note that the dynamic rust/orange pair is not as bright as it is in the picture. The orange is closer to a rust or even a southwest redrock color and the straps are darker.
These sandals are pretty wide. I would say that they would probably be alright, but you might want to look at the chaco website just in case. chacousa.com
Good sizing, as far as I'm concerned. I think my foot is a little on the narrow side of standard, and since these sandals seem to fit just right, wide-footed individuals might have an issue. Length is just fine for me, though. Comfortable and look sharp.
Been walking around on these for most of the summer now, and I love them. I even picked up another pair on SAC (dont know why, because they show no sign of wear) the strap has gotten a little looser, the only reason I noticed, is because when I first got them they seemed a little tight, but now they fit real well. They have great arch support, and dont get funky after days and days of use. Flat out replaced my Reef sandals.
I almost bought these sandals several times over the past several years, and the glowing reviews finally lured me in. Unlike my past three pairs of flips, I won't be leaving these unattended on the floor for my English Bulldog to tear apart. I've only had them a few weeks, but have been wearing them everywhere and really really like 'em. While break-in was a little rough, the straps have formed to my feet and they are really comfortable. They look beach casual, yet provide a lot of support and grip, while staying glued to your feet. We will see how they last, but they seem really well built and so far so good. In fact, I just ordered a pair of Z2's.
They are form-fitting (snug) by design and feel different than a cheap, typical, foam flip-flop. In general, if you usually wear just a 13 with room and no complaints, then get a 13, but if you have several 13.5's (if they even make half sizes that large), or your 13's seem snug, then go up. They will break-in (stretch) a little with wear as well.
These are the best. i love these flippy floppies, the are comfortable they have great arch support i want to buy more. Also they are washable and super durable.
The more I wear these the better they get. The straps break in to be pretty soft and comfortable and the footbed is very supportive. I often use these as an approach sandal when I'm too lazy to wear shoes to the crag and they are always my poolside footwear of choice. Love these kicks.
My wife wouldn't stop talking about how great her Chacos are and how much she recommends them, so I bought a pair. She was right, they are great. Don't tell her I said she is right.
I really want to like these flip flops. I really do. In fact, I kinda do like them, just not as much as I would like to. That doesn't make much sense. What I am trying to say is that I wish I loved these as much as I love my z2's but I just don't think that can happen for a few reasons. Firstly, I just really prefer my Reef leather smoothys when flip flops are the most ideal footwear. The Chaco flips are great in and around water, but in those cases I'm usually wearing my z2's anyways. Maybe it's just my feet, but I can't easily just slide the flips on due to how far back the straps are. This also keeps them more secure, but once again, if I need secure sandals I'm wearing my Z2's. This seems like a minor inconvenience, but isn't maximum convenience the reason we wear flips flops anyways? Lastly, the straps are pretty harsh for quite awhile even for the veteran Z2 and flip flop wearer. Overall, the quality is great and they're perfectly fine flips if they fit your needs/wants, they just don't provide what I want in a flip flop.
The reviews speak for themselves. Just be aware the strap hits a little further back than other flip flops (in your arch normally) and this sandal has a higher arch than say Rainbows or Tevas. That being said, these are the best. Hand down. Chaco also has great customer service, replaced a pair of leather flops when the thong unexpectedly broke. Will never be without a pair.
These were immediately comfortable and required no break in. I imagine they will last a long time as the soles are durable and the nylon thick. Summer has arrived.
I am on my second pair. My first gave up last summer while walking across campus. The first pair lasted 4 years and were threadbare. I use these year round, I hate shoes and wear these even in the snow. They have good arch support and the traction is fantastic. I have hiked with these in the spring when approaching snow because they fit well in the bottom of my pack.
I like the chacos pretty well, this is my first pair. Chris C.'s comment below about sizes running small is no joke. I wear an 11 and ordered an 11, they fit like a 9. They've stretched some, but definitely are too snug. I would have ordered a 12, but stock was not available at the time I ordered. So snug I considered returning them, but probably won't. Definitely a good product, just beware the sizing.
These are the second pair of Chacos I have owned but the first pair of flips. I can already tell I will enjoy them as much as my Chaco sandals. I have smaller feet so the tighter fit is perfect for me. They fit great and are comfortable enough for all day wear, or a welcome relief after a long day at the office.
chaco flip flops are perfect comfort-wise. the only thing i'd like is a range of plain colours that are not black, like the grey ones I bought 5 years ago that are only just beginning to deteriorate. plain colours go with more stuff chaco! the patterns look a bit like dog leashes or those other crap brands and have a bit of a badly dressed hippie thing going on. up the game chaco designers! get out of the mountains and into the city keep it simple.
I bought a pair in 2005; i finally retired them in 2010.
These are by far the best flip-flops out there. I will admit that a broken in pair of Rainbows is pretty nice.
I can't comment on the current version. Mine had Vibram soles (and solid orange straps - I'd love to see the simple colors brought back).
Still, these are very comfortable and durable. I thing the straps go back farther on your foot (closer to the heel) than most flips.
I wore them almost everyday for several summers. They really hold up!
I like the Chaco Z/2's too. However they are kind of a pain to put on (maybe I'll switch to Keen for my "real" sandals). For everyday use these were my go to (warm weather) footwear.
I'm buying another pair right now. They are well worth the price.
had these for like a year and are well built. take a little to break them in, but totally worth it. They are more expensive, but last. No sign of wear on them yet. If you want flip flops go with these.
Durable, well made, crazy grip, substantial-but not too heavy AND SO comfortable you will not want to take them off. I hated Flip Flops until I bought these. Now, in wear them all day long, unless I need a shoe (Chaco Paradox) or water sandal (Teva Terra Fi).
I finally gave in and bought a pair of these flips and havent been disappointed. I have been a true Teva mush addict for the past few years but grew tired of having to replace them almost annually. I live in the PNW so they only get worn in the summers. Anyway, these flip flops are more durable and provide more support, but the Mushs will always be more comfortable. These will also work better for more rugged terrain so my feet will be more protected. My only wish is that they floated naturally. Im afraid to lose them while on the river, due to the fact that they cost me a pretty penny. Anyway if you want a durable and comfortable flip then look no further than this.
Chaco has done a decent job making these flipflops. I was initially attracted by the design but the performance is simply beyond the expectation. You simply cannot go wrong with these flipflops. However, there also is a downside. As some people have already mentioned, it takes time to break in. My feets hurt so much the first 2 weeks. Yet, once you get past the breaking in period, you're good to go. It is extremely comfortable and very stylish as well. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys wearing flipflops!
This is by far the best flip flop i have worn, great support and you can wear them anytime, just throw them on and go, unlike other flip flops ive had where walking further distances hurts these make your feet feel like you can do double the distance, only downfall-two colors, but other than that they are excellent
The Chaco flip flops are no where near as comfortable as Olukai or Reef flip flops, but they do give very good support for the arch of your foot and are also pretty much unbreakable.
These are great flips. Last forever with the Vibram sole and the higher than normal for flip-flops arch is also a nice touch. Wore them all around europe a couple summers ago and they still look great!
Most comfortable flip flop I've ever owned. Very comfortable, able to walk in these for extended periods of time comfortably. Had them for over a year and half and their still in excellent condition.
This is my primary peace of footwear job or snow allowing. Mine have the Vibram sole on them. I'm going to be pretty bummed when they finally wear out. I'm all for green but is that really the primary reason Wolverine - oops - I mean Chaco gave up on Vibram for the flips?
I've sold the flips since the EcoTread conversion and the buyout by Wolverine and they do seem to be fairing better then the Z series.
I've bought two pairs of these over the past, oh, 10 years, and wear them as my every day shoe. So I went ahead and ordered what would be my third pair recently, identical size and model to what I've had twice before.
Uh, oh. Looked mostly the same, but the sole was different, not a biggie. Put them on - "Hm, doesn't quite feel right. Maybe I just need to break them in." Wore them for a week until I couldn't stand it any more.
Called Chaco and, alas, the company has been sold and they are now manufacturing in China, and they're "having some quality control problems with straps that are too short."
They said they'd replace them, including free shipping both ways, so I sent them in. Back came an identical pair with the identical defect - strap is too short.
Bummer, I loved my Chacos, but I've returned them now and will have to find another brand.
As a lifeguard I have gone through many pairs of flip flops. At first I got Tevas, but they only lasted me a year because the sole would wear down to nothing. Not to mention, the soft foam padding was horrible for support. Then one day my wife bought me a pair of these. At first I was hesitant on the price, but it wasn't long before I knew nothing could compare! These have lasted me over 2 years of very heavy wear, getting wet daily in harsh pool water, beat down by the rays of the sun, hundreds of miles walking, and more. I am around 200 lbs and these give me the support I need to be on my feet and walking all day (on hard and abraisive concrete). They're expensive for only being flip flops, but after my experience I would pay full price any day. Buy these and you'll be spoiled for life.
Light, grreat fitting, good arch. Not a Vibram sole so you feel a few more rocks, but a great summer wear. Straps come nice and soft so break-in doesn't exsist.
I bought these slippers because they are the only ones I could find that had real rubber on the soles. They were replacing my 10 yr old Tevas that had river rubber soles that had finally worn through. The sandals are comfy and supportive a little heavier than the Tevas. My biggest grip is the sole isn't Vibram anymore at least not on mine. It is 25% recycled content so I hope they're made from pirelli racing rubber.
I haven't been wearing these for more than a few months, so the long term durability remains to be seen, but these things fit so nicely! They were definitely a little tight at first, I'm glad I opted for the slightly larger size, maybe half to a full size, but they are not too long on my foot at all, and they have broken in perfectly. They have a super solid feel, and very comfy with the curvy arch of the rubber.
I really like these, I was tired of all my flip flops breaking at the thong, so I hope these last, I'm sure they will. Super solid construction, great fit, great look too. Pay up a bit and get these, especially since your cheapies will be breaking soon, it's just better to get something that will last. BTW, I bought them on amazon for 23 bux, so I didn't even really pay up much at all.
I have a narrow, low-volume foot, and these fit very well, nice and snug, good ach support. the better the fit, the less friction, and therefore fewer blisters. my only complaint was that the flip flops had a "black" tag on them, but they were clearly the rold rush brown color. Either the Backcountry shipping guys are color blind, or they were heading out the door to go climbing. i'd send them back for a color change, but seriously... who notices the color of men's flip flops?
These are really durable and will last forever! The sole is also slightly green with 25% recycled rubber. They have a ton of arch support unlike most flip flops.
The reason Chaco does not re-design their sandals year after year is they got it right the first time. Their products are built for the long haul casual, versatile, comfortable, and durable. Best performance flip flop around.
The only thing that worries me is what if I feel like getting new flip flops a few years down the road, but these things are still in great condition? Will I feel guilty buying more?
These flips rock. Sturdy durable sole (Vibram EcoStep) with great arch support + very little break in time, if any. 1-1/2 yrs in with no visible wear. Dont lose grip or comfort when wet + dry relatively quickly.
Worth the money because you will have them for years.
These definitly run tight, at least for me and I have a narrow foot. Ordered my regular size and almost sent them back in the beginning for discomfort between the toes and top where the strap divides above the toes. After the first few hours my feet were begging for my old Reefs! :-(
I loved the support of the footbed and durability of the sole material, so......I stuck it out and kept wearing them a little each day. After a few days my toes adjusted or the straps broke in some??? Anyway, they feel fine now and I'm happy I held on to them.
Grip, footbed support, and sole durability are the best I've had in a flip-flop. Took a little getting use to but worth it in the end.
You just can't kill these things! Right out of the box they require no breaking in to be super comf. I'd recommend sizing up if you have a wider foot, since these seem to be geared towards narrower feet. Oh! and if your heel has a tendency to wander off your flips, or just biases to one side normally because of your gait, these have a wonderful cradle that keeps your flips glued to your heel.
From town to coming down from Mt Mansfield, my flips have been everywhere. From kickin it with my bros to goin to dinner with the lady they are apropos for every situation. The footbeds give enough support for my aircraft carrier feet and the straps give the perfect amount of strap tan. Oh, and theyre good all winter. Im on my fourth pair in 5 years and I wear em 10 months a year. Perfect for getting out of ski boots and lettin the pups breath. If you need a supportive and good lookin flip look no further
I purchased my Chaco Flip Sandals about 4 weeks ago. If I can ever get the chance to wear them for extended periods, I'm sure I'll like them even more. I bought these flip flops really to be shower shoes. I feel that they would really be good for a fair amount of walking if given the chance. They are some of the more supportive flip flops I've ever had. They are not some squishy flimsy flip flops, they are well built and should last me for quite some time to come.
Just a note: I have pretty narrow feet, and the straps fit me very well. I would not suggest this particular model if you have wide feet.
If you get these flip flops they will probably be the last ones you ever get. These are the most well made flip flops out there. Sure they are the most expensive but they will also last 5 times longer than your average ones. Plus they have vibram soles and come in cool colors.
This is the shoe that is most often on my feet in the summer months. I got a pair on sale in Colorado last year, and they have been steller. I have a pair of Z2's as well, but I reserve those when I know I'm going to be active. For going to town, or hitting the beach, these are the sandals.
The Chaco Flip sandals are sized at least a half and really a whole size too small.....had to return them....cost me shipping and my time for which, in the end, I received nothing. Backcountry's advertising is deceptive. They lured me into the purchase with a sale banner but behind the sale banner only six of 21 shoes were actually on sale. Sizes were very limited. See for yourself, this is how the ad reads: On Sale: $35.72 - $54.95 35% Off, Regularly: $54.95. It was a bad experience for me. I doubt I will be shopping Backcountry or Chaco again...certainly not Chaco, not in this economy....$55 for flip-flops. You have got to be kidding. Backcountry, you are into me for my hourly rate. Won't be spending my time, wasting my time, on your nonsense again. I value my life and just don't have it to give away. You have fooled me once. There won't be a twice.
Was looking forward to spring so I can start wearing these sandals again. Tough as nails and pretty comfortable. My only complaint is that the footbed can be a little rough on sock coddled feet.

These shoes have completely changed my take on flip flops. That said, I almost feel bad calling these flip flops. I used to wear the cheap foam shoes, both because they're exceedingly cheap and very comfortable. However, after wearing these, I don't think I could go back. The straps on these are incredibly comfortable (after being broken in). I would definitely suggest breaking them in before trying to wear them all day. However, after the straps break in, these are all you could ask for. The sole is thick enough to protect you from just about anything, and the footbed provides enough traction, even when wet, to make it easy to keep your footing. An excellent investment.
I have taken these flip flops to Guatemala, Costa Rica, Belize, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico (among other trips), and they have held up very well. They have good arch supports, and are lightweight and durable.
i bought these sandals after reading a few reviews that said that they start out uncomfortable, and then stretch and get more comfortable. not the case with me -- i owned them for about a month, and got some blisters, but figured that they would stretch soon. however, they didn't, and i eventually returned them. otherwise, very cool looking. one more thing: the arch is in a funny place.. but maybe that is just specific to my feet.
We bought the flips without ever trying them on. Don't get me wrong, they're great...better than any other flips except maybe the chaco Zongs. Next time we'll get the Zongs just because they have a better footbed and vibram soles.
These are a great flip flop. Had to get a second pair because the first pair got lost in a rafting trip. Before that these flip flops lasted me for 3 years and still in great shape!
These are comfortable and have great sole grip for sticking to rocks out on the trail. Fashionable enough to wear around town, and techy enough to approach Half Dome via the death slabs.
I was devastated this past June when someone stole my Reef sandals during a triathlon I competed in, and for months I had to resort to the cheapo Old Navy sandals (no offense anyone). I loved my Reefs, and was trying to find a similar pair, but then I saw these Chaco Flip Sandals and I had heard good things about Chaco. So I thought I'd give them a try, and I am extremely pleased with the comfort and style of them. The footbed has a narrow snug fit and you don't feel like you are slopping around like other flip flops. The nylon straps take a bit of getting used to and yet with use they are very comfortable. I highly recommend them!
This flip in my mind has it all, comfort, durability, and support. Plus it comes with the chaco promise. Chaco might be the best company ever, they will bend over backwards to help and if anything ever, and I mean ever goes wrong they fix it if a product defect, they pay for it. If your puppy chewed up your straps, they fix that too, at a discount.... Awesome, I will never own any other sandal.
These are wonderful! The problem w/ other flips is that they have virtually zero arch support. These are great, very supportive and you can walk around in them all summer w/out your feet feeling flop fatigued. They also fit snugly, but not tight.
found these on clearance at a local store for $35, and even though my chaco unaweep sandals weren't ever all that comfortable, i tried these on and instantly loved them. i'm a big flip flop guy, and am used to paying ~$40 for reefs, but when i tried these on, i knew i'd found my sandal. they fit so snug, and support my arch in a way other flops never did. i have been wearing the heck out of them. they just came up on S&C for a fantastic price so i just bought another pair in another color.
Still not as comfortable as my old leather trimmed Sperry flip flops. I bought a pair in black and one in brown but wish I had looked harder for the Sperrys...
Thet are quality sandals. They cost a little more than most sandals, but i think they are worth it. I like my sandals to fit snug, bc they always end up getting stretched out. I wear an 11.5 and I ordered an 11. The strap stretched out a little and now they fit perfect.
I got these for my boyfriend. he is around a 7 1/2-8. More on the 7 1/2 size. So I knew from reviews and my experience in the women's flips that these runs small. So I got him the size 9. they fit him really well. there is extra length at the front of the flip. He must not have as long of toes as the chaco foot model they used for designing around. I am really glad I did not go with the 8, would have been too small!
Well I had to get these because the dog ate my leather ones and I figured that these may not taste as good so they may last longer. Well I am a size 9 in just about all shoes and measure it on the Brannock Device, I got these in a 9 and the length and width seemed good but it was the strap that was tight. Just took about a good week or two for them to break in. They feel good and fit great. The strap is still snug but not to tight. I love these! Now that I have broken them in I can flip my flop, kick my feet up, and enjoy a cold beverage at the end of a long day.
I've been wearing Chaco's Z/1 Unaweep sandals for a few years but decided to try their flipflop instead of my Reefs. So far I have been extremely pleased. Sure, $50 is alot to spend on a pair of flipflops, but you get that Chaco quality and comfort that is synonymous with their products. I would definitely order a size larger than normal, because they fit very small (especially the strap). Originally, I bought an 11 because I wear a 10.5/11 in regular shoes....but ended up going with the 12s because they fit how flips should fit.
I generally don't like flips--they are sloppy and cheap. So if I was going to get any I'll admit it, I wanted Reefs. I wanted to be able to open bottles with my feet and/or sport a few shots of liquor in my footbeds. I tried Reefs, turns out those gimmicks came at the sacrifice of function and comfort. I reluctantly tried on Chaco's. The contoured footbed with arch support cups my foot and keeps the sandal in place far more than your average foam plank flips. The strap swings back farther on your foot for a more secure fit. The textured surface of the flip keeps them on your feet even if they get soaked. The Vibram souls promise to wear more gradually than the average flip. The price is more than standard flips, but you're buying more than a standard flip, and that $$$ isn't going towards fashion or gimmicks either. It is true that these are heavier than some flips, but if you're looking to shave ounces from your extreme light-hiking pack perhaps you don't need to bring flips in the first place. I would challenge anyone to walk a few miles in these flips vs. foam planks and tell me that softer non-supporting foam didn't leave their feet just beat down at the end of the day! Wait until they're on sale, or buy them full price--either way they're worth it.
