Castelli S. Uno Gloves - 2011

Castelli S. Uno Gloves - 2011 BCS

Item # CST0538

You may not feel like you need to wear any gloves when you ride, but one encounter with the pavement will probably change your mind. But then you'll be faced with the difficult, almost overwhelming decision of which gloves you should trust your hands to. The Castelli S. Uno Gloves will undoubtedly sit high on the list of options, with all the right details that make a good pair of cycling gloves a joy to wear.

First and foremost is the palm and padding a glove offers. The S. Unos have an ultra-suede palm that's durable and practical, but supremely soft and pliant. Castelli has been careful not to over-pad these palms because they know that once you start going overboard on the padding, you are just making the hands work that much harder to keep the grip they want around the bars. The foam pads really don't need to be too thick so long as they are properly positioned, which Castelli has been assiduously careful to do.

If you ask us, though, the biggest problem with most gloves is the material they use for nose-wiping. Anything too terry-clothy gets too soaked to be used after only two wipes, and anything too stiff rubs us the wrong way. Never fear with the S. Unos, though because Castelli uses a debossed micro-suede at the thumbs that works wonders at transporting the moisture away from your face and letting it evaporate before you need to wipe again. And the softness of the material means that you won't be ripping up and irritating your runny nose. The micro-mesh on the backs of the hands will give the gloves a flexible, well-ventilated feel so your hands won't overheat.

The easy-close hook-and-loop tab at the wrists and the reflective logos along the outside uppers of the hands will add the final practical touches to the Castelli S. Uno Gloves. Since they are available in Black/Black, White/Black and Black/Red color combinations, you will surely find the right match for your color palette. Sizes range from X-Small to XX-Large.

  • Micromesh fabric on back of hand wicks moisture and breathes well
  • Reflective Castelli logo increases nighttime safety
  • Pull tab eases on-and-offs
  • Low-profile hook and loop closure won't bite or irritate
  • Debossed microsuede sweat-wipe nabs that trickle before it drips into your eye
