Castelli has made the investment in supporting both men's and women's professional cycling teams, and many of their products reflect this commitment. Perhaps nothing in these bib shorts has benefited as much from Castelli's association with pro teams as the Progetto X2 Air Seat Pad. The Garmin-Cervelo team spent a year testing this short; that's a lot of saddle time to be thinking about how comfort could be improved. Since Castelli had it pretty right to begin with, there wasn't much more than tweaking going on. What it has done is add a perforated foam layer to the pad to help ventilate and keep the nether regions cooler by allowing air to flow directly onto the surface fabric. That layer sitting next to your skin is made from a four-way stretch, seamless, bacteriostatic layer designed to move with you, reducing bunching and friction. The cushioning layer consists of strategically placed, multi-density foam. For good measure, perforated viscous comfort inserts have been added under high-pressure areas, so that your undercarriage will be supremely protected whether you are out on a relaxed two-hour jaunt or a grueling century.
The fabric of the shorts themselves is a high-gloss lightweight fabric that offers a gently supportive, but not oppressive, fit. The high-density Lycra also works to wick the sweat that inevitably develops when you put in hard efforts. Since everyone knows what it feels like to get damp, especially in crowded areas around the insert, you'll notice right away how well these shorts mitigate that. When you want some bib action, you can easily hook the straps to the wide, comfortable waistband without worrying about them hampering your comfort since they are made from a meshy fabric that will promote ventilation. They're also narrow enough that you won't have them digging into your armpits or interfering with your breasts.

This shorts is a great fit and very comfortable. The black highshine wet look also looks great and the material is really soft and does not rub against your skin. I wore it for the first time yesterday and the padding in the shorts is amazing. Thanks departmentofgoods for that ultrafast shipping to Germany!
