Castelli Goccia Rain Jacket

Item # CST0180

Don’t let a little sprinkle stop your ride. Just pull on the Castelli Goccia Rain Jacket and get after it. Waterproof, breathable Torrent fabric keeps you dry while a back vent helps the heat escape. Reflective Castelli graphics make you more visible when riding in traffic.

Got Soaked

Wore this jacket for a 4 hour ride in light rain and was soaked by the time I finished. I'll be looking to replace it before the next ride in the rain.

No this is a full rain jacket not a Emergency shell therefore not meant to fold up ad fit in a Jersey pocket.

Solid Rain Jacket

This is a rain jacket. It's too hot to use as just a wind cutter, but when it rains, you stay dry. Also, it's nice to be seen through windshield wipers so the lime fluor color makes sense.

I am looking for a rain jacket to wear as an added layer. I have a Gore Phantom XXL which fits comfortably; I would wear the rain jacket as a shell over the Gore. Should I go for the XXL or 3XL?

Go for the 3XL it might be a little big but will give you room to move around.

Too bulky and stiff

By:
January 1, 2011

I was looking for a shell I could wear over a jacket (I also have a Gore Phantom) on rainy days, but packable in a jersey pocket. The material is stiff and plastic-feeling and it would be a tight fit in the jersey pocket. I'm not convinced a waterproof jacket has to feel like a hard plastic shell with all the exotic materials out there these days, so I'd have to rate the material as worse than expected. I'm 6'1" 175pds and found the XL to be the right size to be worn over a jersey and jacket, perhaps just a bit big in the body if intended to be worn with only a jersey but it's borderline. The arms are appropriately long and the back is extended to provide protection from water coming off the back tire.

The two star rating is based on my intended usage as a third layer shell. Others may find it better suited to their use.

Waterproof, windproof, not breathable

This jacket is great for the cold, wet months but the material feels like plastic against the skin and does not seem to be at all breathable.

check the sizing before buy

OK, so I never got to use this jacket because it was too small. I am 5' 7" (slimish) and tried the medium. With just a jersey on underneath, this would be ideal. It's trim and would keep the flapping down. But I want to be able to use in cooler temps so I returned it and have been waiting for larges. Otherwise, it seems to be a well made and thought out rain jacket. The zippers and pulls are quality stuff. The neck has a soft non irritating material. No pockets but waht can you expect for a true rain jacket.
