Castelli Podium Collection - Bormio Jersey - Long-Sleeve - Men's - 2010

Castelli Podium Collection - Bormio Jersey - Long-Sleeve - Men's - 2010 BCS

Item # CST0524

The Castelli Men’s Bormio Long-Sleeve Jersey is a no frills bike shirt that oozes classic style. Performance polyester fabric wicks away moisture, and the full front zip unleashes excess heat during warm stretches. Three rear pockets stashes your carb jelly beans and ibuprofen—’cause you’re gonna ride ’til it hurts.

Great jersey, just dont wear it with a backpack

By:

As a L/S jersey for club rides, this is great. I sized up to a large (5'10" 160#) and it fits well, especially with a L/S base layer under it. Sleeves are long, which is good to tuck in to or over gloves.

Now the bad. On my commute, I wear a backpack. The waist strap on the pack rubs against the jersey and normally this isn't an issue. With the Castelli jersey, the black is fading away (after the second ride!) and it is pilling badly where the buckle rubs at the zipper. I wore some so-so voler team kit for ~6 months with almost no fading from the buckle and no pilling. I will keep this jersey for training rides and not for the commute. Sad about it as this is a great jersey otherwise.

Great cool weather jersey

By:
October 11, 2011

We have a chill in the air in Colorado now. Had this jersey out on three rides. Very happy with it. Great fabric and quality. Just enough insulation and wind resistance for a cool ride. LIke the style and features.

Sizing. I'm 5'10", 175. 43 chest, 32 waist. I was influenced by all the sizing comments here and upsized to a XL. I generally prefer more of a race fit, and the XL is just slightly large. I'm not sure the L wouldn't be a bit tight in the chest and armpits. But with the XL the sleeves are a bit long, and there is a bit of loose fabric. OK for a cool weather jersey, but if I was to order again I might try the L. As it is, I'm going to try a warm wash and dry to see if I can shrink a bit.

Given that these fit issues are often tricky, I'd highly recommend this jersey. Now watching BT to see if the Jacket and Short sleeve come up!

Awesome feel, fit and quality. Phew!

By:

This jersey looks awesome as soon as you open the package; the quality of the fabric is excellent - it has a cool subtle sheen to it, and the interior is a thermal layer which is perfect for fall in Montreal.

Fit, of course, was my biggest concern. I'm 6'2", 240 (fit) lbs with a 36 to 38 waist, a 44/45 chest and big shoulders. More hockey player than cyclist build, if you will. Once zipped up, the XXL jersey fits like a glove, which is exactly what I need. I hope I don't soften up in the midsection during winter, this is also supposed to be my L/S spring jersey...

Bottom line : If you are considering this jersey, buy it.

Awesome L/S Jersey

By:
September 6, 2011

This jersey is great: quality, style, and fit. Not surprising coming from Castelli. It has the "athletic" or "slim/sports" euro fit, which suits me. Normally for most clothes I wear a medium, however for Euro-made /designed cycling stuff I usually size up to large, and that works perfect for my size (5'9" 175 lbs). The fit while on the bike is well thought out and great; accordingly, while standing it is snug in certain areas... not uncomfortably tight, just snug.

The soft sided material on the inside makes it comfy on cool mornings or fall days. Great jersey. I would definately buy this again, especially at this price!

Bike Posture Fit

By:
July 13, 2011

I don't understand why people keep complaining about the fit around the arm pits and chest for this jersey.

It's obviously designed to optimize the fit for the posture of a rider on a bike, which is the most important.
Fits very well, nice race fit.

Awesome Jersey, But An Odd Fit....

By:
April 17, 2011

I had the same problem as most of the other reviewers. This jersey's fit causes it to make unconsensual love to your armpits. Not cool! However, it does loosen up a little while cycling in a "Rider's" pose. Otherwise, the fit for myself in a Medium is close to perfect (5'8", 155 lb, 39.5" Chest, 21" Underarm-to-Wrist, 32" Waist). I would have liked to size up to see if it made a difference; however, the sleeves were already a little bit long for my build. The material is awesome, inside and out. The interior of the jersey has a soft lining that is very comfortable, and would be ideal for windy or cool days. It does a very good job of being form fitting around the wrists, neck, and waist. The rear pockets were deep enough to fit my hands in. If the fit wasn't so awkward in the underarm area, I would have kept them for sure. I recommend trying out different sizes if you can. This jersey is well worth it!

Fit seems strange, but...

By:
March 28, 2011

Like everyone else says, order a size up. I'm 6'0", 165lbs, and the large is comfortably snug. The armpits do seem a little high at first, but for me, once I got on the bike everything fit like it should. Perfect for a windy 50 degree ride without a base. Looks frickin' sharp to boot.

Armpits were the deal breaker

By:
March 14, 2011

Jersey looks good, made well, but the fit isn't great. I should have listened to the comments below -- armpits were the pits. Felt like I was in a straitjacket. As much as I wanted to keep it I had to return it. Don't think I could ever ride comfortably with something riding up my armpits.
