Capo Verona Thermal Jacket - 2011

Capo Verona Thermal Jacket - 2011 BCS

Item # CAP0386

Even if most of us would prefer to be warm rather than fashionable, we'd all be happy to find a cold weather jacket that functions as a protector against deep winter but wears like a light jersey or jacket and looks good to boot. The Capo Verona Thermal Jacket will keep you warm and toasty while making sure that you don't feel or look like Nanook of the North.

The first line of defense against the elements of winter is the WindTex Flight Plus fabric on the front panels of the jacket. It has just the right mix between weight and suppleness. As light as it feels, you'll be astounded by how well it keeps the wind from penetrating to your undershirt. Make no mistake: this is a heavy-duty wind stopping fabric, but you won't have to worry about a build-up of sweat since the interior of the fabric is lined with Super Roubaix fabric that manages to be warm and stretchy yet still control any development of excess moisture -- all at the same time. The fabric works overtime to keep you well ventilated to prevent your own sweat from cooling you down. The Super Roubaix fabric wicks the moisture from your skin to facilitate the required breathability.

The sides of the jacket are made with the Capo Winter Micro Quattro fabric, which has a dual-layer brushed polyester that gives it just the right amount of heft to keep the cool weather elements from penetrating to your core. It also allows for the freedom of movement that we have all come to expect from Capo items. The Micro Quattro fabric offers the perfect balance between warmth and ventilation.

With its sleek race cut, you can pair this with your Verona knickers during cold spring races or pull it on when your 'cross championships roll around. The design matches the rest of your Verona lineup, but is also clean enough to suit just about anyone's taste and kit design. Three patch pockets in the back will help you carry any supplies you need, from wallets and mobile phones to keys and snacks. The full length zipper makes it simple to ventilate.

The Capo Verona Thermal Jacket comes in both White and Red, each with a Black and Red Capo logo on the front and back. It is available in sizes Small through XX-Large.

  • WindTex Malta blocks chilly air to keep you warm
  • Super Roubaix lining wicks moisture away from your skin to keep calmminess at bay
  • Micro Quattro side panels offer stretch and breathability
  • Three rear pockets provide plenty of room for riding essentials

Nice product

This piece functions as both jersey & jacket during the bitter cold months. I've worn it down to 25ºF...very comfortable even without a base-layer. I have a similar jersey-jacket by Giordana, and with a base-layer, I've been fine down to the single digits. Back to the Capo...it has a nice, soft, warm feel against the skin. High-quality fabric. Windproof front, breathable on the sides & back. The cut is typical European, with high arm holes. This only feels awkward when you're off the bike, arms at your side. On the bike, this cut is pleasantly form-fitting & properly designed for time spent on the hoods or in the drops. I'm 6'0", 170lbs and a medium fits me just right, but I like a tighter fit, and I don't tolerate any flapping in the breeze. This Capo product delivers on all fronts, including the tasteful, well-styled graphics

great photo and helpful review - thanks. I am 5'9'' and 155 with a 38 in chest - chart calls for a Medium which is what you have. Cannot believe I would be a small in a euro brand - thoughts?

Follow-up to my review: I wore it this morning in 15F temps, with a thin Ibex wool base-layer, and I was comfortably warm. Really appreciated the high collar. If any wind were to get through this jersey-jacket, I'd have known it this morning...it didn't. Couldn't be more satisfied

Cafefull with the sizing. This jacket is very tight fitting and I had to return my first order for a size larger.

I'm 6'2", 200lbs and athletically built. I'm trying to determine whether to purchase either the XL or XXL Verona Thermal Jacket. From the prior reviews it's hard to tell. XL Jerseys in Castelli fits a bit too tight, but Craft and 2xu fit great. Any thoughts out there?

Thanks Blder Seven!. I actually bought the XL and it fits great. The problem however is the zipper gets caught on some fabric when trying to zip up entirely. I have the fold the insulator flap directly behind in order for the zipper to go down without snagging. Very annoying! Talked with Kevin of customer service, sending out a replacement. Great customer service,..will be a regular customer moving forward.

I'm 6'3" 195 lbs and own the Capo Dorato Thermal Jacket in XL. I have a 44" chest and 34" waste. I prefer a snug fit that does not allow much, if any, flapping of the jacket material in the wind. You could aways order the XL and XXL and send back the one that does not fit just to make sure you get the size you prefer the best. I also own the Capo Verona thermal jersey in XL and I like the fit. The XXL seems to have more room in the chest in my opinion, but fit is the same elsewhere. Good luck.

Magic Jacket

By:
December 15, 2011

I've ridden in this jacket for about 2 weeks in all temperatures from 32F to 48F, very windy, no wind, dry weather and in light rain. In all conditions it's kept me warm and dry with just a base layer underneath. This is the one piece of gear I can honestly say was worth every dollar I paid for it.

I'm 5'6, 155 lbs. I bought the XL because I'm wide in the shoulders and expected to layer up underneath it. Probably should have gotten the large. Even so, the jacket is cut tight enough that it doesn't flap in the wind. I appreciate the high armpits which ensure you don't have wings flapping in the breeze slowing you down.

Love it

I am 6' 0" 185 lb. I bought the XL. The large was too small in the arms. The XL is perfect. form fitting but not too tight. looks great and very comfortable. Wore it this morning in 19 degree temps with zero wind. Was very comfortable. Baselayer was castelli airco with midweight merino wool mid layer. base layer had sweat so plenty insulating. Did not feel any wind blow through. Also work the other day with 32 deg and 20 mph wind. Again great jacket. The comment applies that this feel great on the bike but when standing it feels tight. its cut to be riding. Looks fantastic.

Great if you are a twig.

I'm 5'9, 165 lbs, and I ordered the large at first. It was so constricting, I exchanged for an XL. Even with the size up, my arms had no mobility. The fabric pinched at the arm pits because the cut is completely vertical. It is not tapered at all, which means that if you have any upper body, you'll be uncomfortable.

Besides the sizing issues, the fabric is second-rate. After close inspection of the second jacket, I found that it was pilling up straight out of the shipping bag. Never worn. It looks cheap up close, but I have to admit that I liked the feel. I bet that if it actually fits you, it would do its job decently well.

Awesome winter jacket

Just got it on BT because the price was too good to pass up. I realized I may not have a chance to really road test it given that it is spring but it was 39 degrees this morning and wore it on a 35 mile ride. Didn't have a base layer and it kept me warm and the jacket also breathes so you don't get hot. Red color is very cool. I'm 6'4" 215 lbs and the XXL fits perfect.

Sizing issue

By:
March 3, 2012

Looks like nice quality but size isn't anything like the sizing chart indicates. If you are one very specific body type then I guess it is a great jacket, but for the rest of us it will go back for return. Unfortunately could not even wear for one ride. I normally take a L club cut or XL in more aggressive style. Ordered an XL and it was not even close.

Capo Verona Thermal Jacket

Bought both the red and the white. Outstanding jackets. I'm 6'2" and 178 lbs and the XL fits perfect. Nice long sleeves and long on the torso. Fits like a glove, no flapping in wind. With Under Armour compression base layer, a short sleeve jersey and this jacket, I was completely warm in windy mid 30's. It's made in Italy and has European fit which means go up one size, at least in my experience over the years of cycling.

Well done Capo

December 22, 2011

Nice jacket. Made in Italy. Windtex on the front chest panels and complete sleeves. Otherwise the other 2 fabrics as described. 6ft, 180 and the XL fits (could maybe do an L). Sleeves plenty long, body long, as well. Nice coat. A bit garish to be honest, but oh well.

This one may surprise you. Warmer than you may ever think. The full sleeve windtex is part of it to be sure. You will find that you wear a base and the jacket to maybe 30 or 35 and thats it. Shocking. Sized a bit big too. If you want this with only a base, maybe stay at normal size. With a jersey too, act Euro and go up a size.

This is a really nice jacket, extra length in the arms and torso. I am 172 Lbs and 6'-1". Size XL fits me great, not tight but no flapping in the wind. I have worn it down to 32 and overcast with a thin base layer and was very comfortable. Recommended !!!
