Burton hooked up the Women's Escapade Snowboard Binding with B3 Gel heel cushioning to reduce chatter on the hardpack and soften your landing on the terrain park's biggest hits. This all-mountain, medium-flex binding locks your foot in place with the Ultra Capstrap toe strap, so you can squeeze every speck of performance out of your new board. Burton added the Canted Living Hinge highback to the Escapade Snowboard Bindings to provide nearly limitless adjustment without tools. Dial in your fit and rip every corner of the mountain. - Fall 2008.
Bottom Line:
More padding for overshot landings and chattery snow.
I had some issues with the ankle straps when I took them out the first day (see the question I posted below). However, after some adjustment, the discomfort went away. By moving the ankle strap one notch up, the pressure points on the inner side of my feet went away. These Burtons fit very snugly with my Salomon boots. The toe strap on the back foot sometimes becomes loose during riding, but I think that's because of the fact that they fit really snug, and when I sit down to strap on the back foot, the foot doesn't get all the way into the binding even though I crank down the straps tight. This can be easily solved by standing up and let the gravity do its job, then tighten the straps again. My setup is stiff bindings, stiff boots, and stiff board. This translates to precise carving turns on groomed trails. These bindings are so responsive compared to my previous bindings that I no longer have to worry about catching an edge due to sluggish response.
I'm completely sold on these bindings. I have the teal zebra color, and I do agree with the above review that the bindings are absolutely not the color shown...it's more of a bright jungle green if you ask me. Sweet, nontheless, but not the color shown. I'd say if you're iffy on color, order a black or white pair and save yourself headache or disappointment later. Anyway, the bindings have essentially the most comfortable and responsive system I've ever experienced. I took the time to carefully adjust the bindings to the boots I use them with, which took a little time but it was well worth it. I have never experienced such smooth, fluid control and connection with my board. You simply gotta try it :)
I bought these bindings in a medium, and i wear a size 7.5 boot which should fit.. but i have to stomp my heel end in, as the back part of the binding has a snug fit, other than that, over all they fit my boot perfectly and are SUPER comfortable aside from the heel stomp initiation to get in... M fits "6-8"
The color teal/zebra is not as sky blue as the burton website shows and is even a bit darker than this site shows. It is a darker green/blue - teal color. The heal strap this yaer has a bubble padding as opposed to squishy padding. We will see how the bubbles hold up this season. The material the air bubbles are held in seems durable. The hea straps and toe straps are easier to adjust length on this year as opposed to last years. I have a year over year comparision on burton escapades over the past 3 years on my blog.
I wear a sz 6.5 but rock the Salomon F22 Boots. Will the small
I wear a sz 6.5 but rock the Salomon F22 Boots. Will the small burton bindings fit my boot? I heard that salomon boots have a narrower/ slimmer profile than burton boots. Also, what year are these bindings? Thanks!
these bindings definitely hold your boots in and make you feel like you are 'one with the board'.
pros: looks good, straps are comfortable (very actually), absorbs a lot of chatter.
cons: the heel side of the base plate is made a lil tight/snug and i have to stomp my foot into the binding to get it in there. not so much a problem- that is, until i have to stomp my way out when unstrappin and tryin to hurry up and get to the next lift. this might have something to do with the fact that its not a burton boot... maybe, maybe not.
they look pretty sick.. cant really complain. just the boot thing.
I have an old pair of lexa's maybe the first year they came out. I have northwave boots, I wear a size 9 shoe, but got these years ago, size 7.5 and they packed out and are PERFECT. I had problems w/ the lexas they fell apart, and the ratchets are hard to maneuver. 3 questions, can the toe strap be used traditionally or does it have to go over the entire toe like a "cap", how is the ratchetting system, easy in/out? and will the medium fit w/ my boots? Also I have Arbor Cadence board. Any suggestions or help appreciated. I'm also looking at the Burton Stilleto or Drake Jade Bindings. If anyone could assist on what the best set up would be. I have my lexas on my Never Summer Infinity. They are jerryrigged, and stil work...but I definately want a totally dialed in set up for my new board. thanks!
i have a feelgood board and bought these binding with the burton boots. I found that the toe strap gets loose easily, but i do feel a difference with the cushion and everything with the feelgood board.
These bindings are crap. I should have known, I have the burton citizen bindings and they are cheap as well, I just figured it was because they were lower end Burton. The toe straps on these bindings come loose every time. By the time I get to the lift again it's practically undone. Also I have Vans boots which prove to be a tight fit in these bindings, I got M and my boots are size 8. I would go with a different brand in general. Also if you don't have a Burton board you don't get all the cushion that they speak of.
They look nice but if you're looking for a binding that can handle constant riding I'd go with something else. Actually just go with another brand all together.
I agree with you. You must have the wrong size or something. These bindings are by far the best bindings I have ever owned. I have been riding the same pair for three years now and have had none of those problems. They may seem cheap because they are lightweight and flexible, but that is in no way a reflection of the quality. They are lightweight and give the feeling that you aren't wearing bindings at all. It's awesome! I am very impressed with these bindings and would recommend them to anyone.
I think you have the wrong size. I wear a 7.5 boot (Salomon), and I wear a large in the Escapade. I have done about 40 days on these with none of the problems you've described.
A prety good binding overall, I love how much can be adjusted on them to make them fit your boots just right...I have some chunky K2 boots and these fit em great.
Edit: After riding these all season I had one major issue with these bindings. The toe strap was constantly moving around on me no matter what i tried to keep it in place
Do these require a major breaking in time? When the bindings
Do these require a major breaking in time? When the bindings came, the ankle straps were stuffed in the back of the bindings and were bent (not curved). Even the plastic thing that holds the ankle strap were bent. I took them out for a day of riding today, and the straps really squeezed both sides of my feet, so badly, that I could not ride the lift anymore after a few hours. Are what I got defective, or the straps require a few days of breaking in time?
i've only just learned how to snowboard this past season, and after i fell in love with it, i realized it was time to stop renting cheap burton gear. i bought myself a board, some comfy boots, and the escapade bindings. lemme tell you. THESE ROCK. they are really really comfortable, but they offer a lot of support. even at the end of the day, i was ready to keep boarding. it's also ridiculously easy to carve with these bindings helping you out, so these keep you having fun, and not frustrated or tired. i got the white and gold ones, and seriously, they look awesome. if you aren't sure if these are for you, just get em. you won't be sorry.
I'm looking for bindings to match the Forum Star Snowboard...
I'm looking for bindings to match the Forum Star Snowboard... would these work? I'm a size 9 boot and looking at a 149cm board.... I've only been snowboarding this season.
oh yeah bindigs are compatible across the board, with most boards and all boots...the only bindings you are going to have trouble with are burton EST bindings, they require special boards...so unless they are burton EST bindings then you can get whatever binders you want :-)...and if ur gunna get these then get larges
All I can say is WOW. When I heard these were responsive, I had no idea. Coming from a crappier setup, this is like riding a sick of butter in a hot pan.
I do all kinds of mountain riding, and these are perfect! I put em on the Troop and there is no chatter and my feet / shins / ankles don't ache after hitting it hard on the packed powder. These bindings made jumps much sicker.
yeah these will work great with any burton board...but stiff board+stiff bindings will basically imprison you to advanced mountian riding and backcountry, with these medium flex bindings you will at least have a bit more versatility and forgivness from your setup
Well of the three you have narrowed down to, for park and pow, these are all made for both. All three are an all-mountain binding, however the Rome Strut is going to have a little firmer feel to it. If price is a concern, the Strut's are obviously the cheapest as well.So other than a slightly firmer feel in the Strut's, it comes down to price and which one you think looks the coolest.
Just recieved the bindings. I wear a size 8.5 or 9 womans boot (depending on brand) and bought the L bindings - I was surprised to find that I needed to adjust the toe strap so it was fully extended. Recommend anyone on the cusp of the sizing chart to go up to the L.
These year after year are my favorite bindings. I wear a size 6.5 boot and mediums can adjust down small enough and smalls can adjust large enough. I choose to go with the mediums so if people need to borrow bindings and have normal sized feet they can borrow mine. The flex on these are great. offers awesome support and cushioning. I am stoked on the top caps for this years bindings. Just offers a better fit on the toes. I use these bindings for everything. powder, park, pipe and kiteboarding. Great dampening in the heal and foot. You don't feel every little bump or whomp in the snow. Stomping landings don't hurt in these either. you will love life in these bindings.
