do these shorts close with velcro? How can I make sure that I buy a pair of board shorts that do not have velcro to shut them? What keywords should I be looking for?

Hey,

Yes, they do close with Velcro. Unfortunately shorts without Velcro closures don't all call it out. You'll just have to find some you like and do some investigating.
