It’s said that an average human brain generates the roughly 25 watts of power during waking hours, but that number is bound to be significantly less following a traumatic brain injury. Keep your cranial power-meter turning strong with Bern’s Watts EPS Visor Helmet. Whether you snowboard, ski, bike, or skate, this brimmed lid helps keep your light bulb lit in the event of a crash.
EPS polystyrene is a lightweight, hard foam—when hit, EPS evenly distributes energy throughout its internal structure to keep your head intact
Sink Fit design fits the lid around your head (rather than on letting it ride on top), which provides both advanced comfort and an ultra-low profile
Removable knit liner allows for year-round action sport use—leave it in to fight off the winter chill and take it out when the weather warms up
Removable vent piece lets you air it out on warm days and trap in extra heat when it’s cold
Got this helmet for my first real snowboard trip out west. Nice stylish helmet. I have a deceptively large head so I had to get an XL. It was a little tight but fits OK. Worked great. I also plan on using it some this summer when mountain biking. Just swap out the knit winter liner other liner that is included.
I purchased this helmet for skiing and skateboarding. The included winter and summer liners are comfortable but personally I prefer using my own beanie instead of the liner for the snow. The sizing seems a bit small so I went a size bigger and did not regret it. My NewEra hat size is between 7 1/8 - 7 1/4 and I went with a Bern size Large. The EPS foam gives me added confidence when entering into a sketchy situation. The Brock Foam is great for small bonks but I had a bad concussion years ago and place a high value on whats inside the bucket. The helmet is comfortable and feels sturdy enough to handle some punishment. I also have a Giro Remedy S full face which I use on occasion but this helmet will get a lot more use in everyday type of situations.
Not probably the intended use of the Bern Watts, but it serves me well as a general use climbing/skiing helmet in the Sierra! Here seen without the knit liner, and with the included "spring weather" insert instead.
It comes with 2 liners, so just order the right size and choose which ever you like - knit liner for winter or just the inner cushion for summer. To wear the helmet without any liner and with a beanie would be unusual...
"Hatstyle" paint jobs are the multicoloured ones in the pics above that kinda look like baseball caps.
Love this helmet. Very stylish and well fitting. The helmet sits low on your head, more like a regular ballcap and less like a big dome. I've pulled out the ear pads and either wear a thin beanie or bandana underneath. There is a small gaper-gap with my Smith I/O, but that is remedied by the already mentioned under layer. I tried to wear the Watts over my goggles, but the brim would catch air when going fast and lift off my head. EPS and Hardhat cost the same, so I opted for (and would recommend) the certified, single impact EPS version. I've knocked my head around a little bit and the helmet hasn't busted so it's not a one-time-deal if you wipe out. But if you crash big, the EPS liner stands a better chance of keeping you awake. Lots of fresh colors are on the way!
