As the original, four-season lid with a brim, the Bern Baker Hard Hat Helmet has a certain OG status in the world of snow, dirt and skating. Brock foam protects your brains from multiple, low-impact hits when other types of foam dont, and open cell design promotes airflow to help your head stay cool. Reach for the Baker instead of ending up in the hospital.
Hard Hat version with Brock Foam is not EN/AST/CPSC certified for severe single impacts, but it is able to withstand multiple, lighter hits without requiring replacement (as compared to Zipmold and EPS foam, which is certified but must be replaced after a single hit, however hard or soft)
Sink Fit design fits the lid around your head (rather than on letting it ride on top), which provides both advanced comfort and an ultra-low profile
Removable knit liner allows for year-round action sport use—leave it in to fight off the winter chill and take it out when the weather warms up

Do you ship internationally? Or, will you be able to do so given that relevant charges are paid? If so, please let me know how much it'll cost to ship to Seoul, South Korea. Thank you!
It's super warm, looks good, and protects your dome from all those little shots. Don't be scared about all the warnings about this not being a helmet- that's just for liability. The Hard Hat will protect you from most of what you hit your head on.
After doing a little reading... EPS: Absorbs energy by compressing and breaking apart, decelerating the head at a slower rate. Once the shell is completely broken the helmet is unable to absorb any more energy, which means whatever energy is left is sent directly to the head. Helmet is useless after one good impact.
Brock: Compresses and deforms to absorb impact. Shell also deforms and possibly breaks, depending on amount of energy, to absorb impact. Once shell is broken and foam is totally compressed, the rest of the energy is transferred directy to the head. Foam rebounds back to original form and helmet is good to use as long as shell is intact
What I love about this helmet is its simplicity. It's a helmet and a rockin' one at that. There is enough insolation to keep you warm on the cold days and it design will prevent you from overheating in the spring.
Why would someone want a helmet that is designed for light impacts
Why would someone want a helmet that is designed for light impacts only rather than a severe impact? Is it designed for boarding? I prefer a helmet that will protect from a severe blow, otherwise what is the point of wearing it?
When discussing a "hit" in terms of taking a blow you have two basic types: high impact (read: catastrophic), low impact (read: concussion). All helmets are expected to meet the safety requirements for a high impact hit, this helmet is no exception. Many helmets, like for example, a normal bike helmet, do not protect against low impact hits. So, when you take a decent blow to the head in a helmet that does not meet low impact standards your chances of a concussion are significant.
This helmet is meant to protect against both high, AND low impact hits. It does so with the use of special foam padding. Most popular winter helmets meet these requirements.
My head is an absolute melon, so for the price and the size (XXL), this was the best helmet out there for me. Fits like a glove (thankfully) and it doesn't look like its floating off my dome, which is awesome. Nice and warm, wont need a bonnet under that. Plenty of room for headphones under the knit liner too. Great buy.

can a light be attached to this helmet or does bern provide a setup like that? need something for canoeing and caving as well or should i pick from a different style?
This is more of a ski/snowboard helmet...A good option would be the black diamont half-dome helmet, it has headlamp loops, and is well-vented so it would drain water quickly even though it is a rock-climbing helmet.

Does anyone know if the hard hat version fits the same as the eps version both without the liners? I like wearing a hat under my helmet and was able to try the eps on in person and found that the XL fit with a hat under, but I want the hard hat version, so should I still go with an XL? Thanks for the help.
I found this helmet runs a bit small so I would recommend the bigger size. I ordered a medium and and had to exchange it for a large. Overall its a comfortable ski helmet.
