Bell Array Helmet

Item # BEL0006

The problem with price-sensitive helmets is that they usually look and feel it. Not so with the Bell Array; this is one place where trickle-down technology really works. It features the same Fusion In-Mold Microshell for durability, registered graphics for durability and overall pro looks as the Volt. The TAG fit system offers incredible fit by offering adjustability both vertically and horizontally. Internal reinforcement used to be a feature found on only the most expensive helmets, so its presence on the Array adds an appreciable safety factor to this already affordable helmet. 24 strategically positioned vents are positioned to keep you cool on even the hottest days while its 340g weight is just a few paperclips more than the top-of-the-line stuff. The Bell Array is available in 3 sizes in multiple colors to allow you to match it to any club's kit.

Bottom Line:

Riding in style without skimping on safety.

Talk shop with all the gear freaks out there: ask 'em questions, upload/browse photos, and give your 2¢.

Bell Array Helmet

By:

I really like my new helmet. After comparing prices and weight of helmets I thought this was a great buy. I have read people's reviews and they say things like, "I hardly know the helmet is on my head." Well that is how I feel about the Array. Totally recommend this to anyone. I have a had Bell Sweep helmets in the past and I like this one much better.

The Array is a great helmet, no helmet store sunglasses as good as a jersey pocket. Honestly it depends more on the sunglass model than helmet.

Great Helmet

By:
July 29, 2009

I have both a 2009 Volt and Array and I like the Array a little better. I bought the Volt to replace a 2006 Sweep R. I loved the Sweep and figured the Volt to be an upgrade and although the Volt is a better helmet, it didn't fit as comfortable as my old Sweep. I bought the Array because neither the Sweep nor Volt made a helmet with a yellow and black pattern. Both helmets weigh about the same and fit about the same although there is a little more padding in the Volt. The Array appears to have a lower and sleeker profile and fits more comfortably on my noggin. The Array is also nearly half off the price of the Volt. Knowing what I know now, I would buy the Array over the Volt or Sweep, the Array is that comfortable and sleek. Hope this review helps everyone.

A 7 1/8 hat size is about 56-57cm. That would mean you will want a M in this helmet.

Array vs Influx

By:
March 23, 2011

For some reason I think Bell helmets fit my head better than other brands. I've used a lower priced Influx for several years. I wanted a flashier helmet, and especially liked the black/yellow ones which I could get with the Array. I haven't had the Array very long and haven't ridden in the heat of summer yet. So far I can't say that the Array is more comfortable or lighter than the Influx. I haven't noticed any significant advantage of the TAG system over the GPS. Still, I like the way the Array fits and looks and am happy I bought it. FYI, I am an old fart and not a racer by any stretch.

Not from what I experienced. I don't own it but I've tried a few on and it felt pretty good to me. It's not THEE lightest of the Bell line but it is up there with some of the best (I think the array is their first or second model down from the 250 dollar ones.

No. Ultra light, I would consider this best in class for weight, price and styling.

I wouldn't say ultralight but it is a bit on the heavy side. My Array says 360g on the inside sticker not the 286g advertised. Maybe that is for the small size? My $65 Furio feels lighter.

Array

By:
August 6, 2010

It's a nice helmet. I bought a Specialized before this for about $20 less that is Snell rated, which this one is not. It's fit is good. The finish isn't as good as my cheaper helmet. All in all not a bad helmet. I think this one has better airflow, which is good on these 100+ degree days.

crashed it

By:

I am pretty sure your Array helmet saved me from an extended stay in the hospital. It took a strong impact, cracked the foam, but my noggin was unaffected. The amount of scuffing on the shell, suggested it was a big impact. The fit system seemed to distribute the impact so I didnt realize how severe it had been till inspected the helmet. Thanks Bell!

Great choice

By:

A bit more low-profile and less gaudy than most high end helmets. I like the fit system a lot, and it has plenty of vents. Probably not for weight wienies or avant garde fashionistas, but you get a fine high-end helmet at a mid-range price. A great helmet overall.

Very Nice

By:
March 23, 2009

I had a cheaper Giro before this one and while both would protect the noggin if needed, the Bell does it comfortably and with style. It honestly feels like you are wearing a hat after a few minutes and the straps are pretty comfy too. Good vents, good helmet.
