Baffin Impact Winter Boot - Women's - 2005 BCS
Designed for use in the planet's coldest regions, the Baffin Women's Impact Winter Boot is rated to an amazing -148F (-100C). A two-buckle closure provides easy access when you're wearing gloves so you won't risk loosing fingers just to lace up your boots. A snow collar tops the 1000d Diamond-Lite insulated nylon upper and keeps your feet nice and dry. The Impact has removable liners so you can warm them up in your sleeping bag at night. A narrow heel profile will help these boots fit your feet great and the GelFlex shock absorbing system will keep them comfortable while you're pulling the sled over the miles ahead.

Baffin Impact Boots
April 29, 2012
I bought these boots for a dog mushing trip on the north slope of Alaska, north of the Arctic Circle. Temp during our trip was -10 to -40. Pros: comfortable, fit well, socks stayed dry Cons: Normal foot perspiration went to thru to the bottom bottom layer of the boot, where ice crystals formed. My wool socks stayed dry, my feet were frozen from the ice. Had to literally wipe the ice out of the boots with a towel at the end of the day. The insole inserts also were frozen. I contacted Baffin - they wanted to send me a new pair. No thanks! After 7 days of cold feet I will never trust this brand again.
I want to order these boots but am not sure which size to order.
I want to order these boots but am not sure which size to order. I wear a size 8.5 but these do not come in half sizes---should I go up or down in sizes?
December 12, 2011
If you wear an 8.5 then you will only need a 9.

Patience is a virtue...
January 14, 2011
These are a really high quality winter boot, and when i first ordered them (geez, this is a whole other story), my UPS driver left them at the end of my driveway at my mailbox right before X-mas and somebody stole them, but backcountry was amazing and sent a replacement set out right away...anyway, i thought that the inner boots were snug and hurt the bones in my feet from the memory foam scrunching them together (actually, when i initially tried them on for about 30-45 minutes they didn't feel too uncomfortable, it was the next day when i woke up and tried to walk that i realized how bad things were and that they had squished my foot bones!), so i had to return them...
BUT, I wish i had read the reviews about breaking them in and wearing them for at least a few hours (or many more) to let the memory foam liner mold to your foot since many other people seem to have had this snugness problem as well, so, i have since re-ordered them from a site where I found them at a great discount and after some initial dicomfort the first two days, they are feeling really good. Its now taken about a week for the inner boot to get to where i feel like it is totally stretched out and molded correctly to my foot.
I feel that they run true to size, as i am always a 10 in everything and after the memory foam has given, i even have a tiny amount of wiggle room now, so i would not recommend ordering up, just be patient with them. These probably wouldn't be uncomfortable in the beginning for the average person, as i have lupus and arthritis and semi-wide feet to boot (no pun intended), and alot of shoes/boots are uncomfortable for me. The arch support is fantastic, they are amazingly warm, seem well built & durable, and have really helped out with my Raynauds over the past week (no way you're getting cold feet in these, and i literally have the coldest feet on earth!). Thanks backcountry for your great customer service amidst all the chaos of the holidays!

Do you need to buy a size bigger than your usual shoe size or is extra room already figured in for heavier socks?
February 5, 2011
1) You do not need heavier socks as the boot is rated to -145 F!
2) I wear a 91/2 shoe and ordered a 10 - should have gotten a 9 as the heel bed is quite loose.
3)great boot, just wish it were a bit smaller!

Heaven in a boot!
December 23, 2010
Got'm, love'm. They feel like heaven in a shoe! They are so plush and cushy. I wish my other shoes were as comfy. They are light weight, not heavy, however they are stiff. That is because the liners come up atleast mid calf. They may develop a bend to them as they get worn in, but Baffin should create an optional shorter version of the liner. I am more then pleased with them though. They are bulky looking, but someone even told me they were cute!I am able to drive the car with them on no problem, I can cross my legs with them on and not feel awkward, and can now walk in the deep snow instead of the snow-packed icey walkways. In fact, I can walk all over the place now with no worries.Sizing- I wear a 9; I used to try and squeeze my feet into an 8 1/2, but then I grew up. With the liners on, that is kind of what I feel like I am doing. The fit is snug and I can feel some preasure on my big toe, however, without the liners they would be fine I am sure. The liners give you that extra security, keeping the boot on your foot. They shouldn't be roomy with the liners in I don't think anyway. I was also wearing midweight wool socks. It isn't uncomf., but more form fitting, as I said, giving you more security like custom boots would I guess.Did I mention they are warm? My feet were not sweating in these in or out doors with wool socks on. They do a great job of regulating the temp.
I am attaching a picture of them tightened and secured.

Boots from Baffin
January 11, 2010
I just got these boots in the mail as there was not one pair in my size left in Saskatchewan, Canada that I could find. Popular boots! I tried them on and LOVE them! Would recommend to anyone!

I just called Baffin. Yes. They are waterproof for snow and slush. They are polar tested. They would not be good if you were standing in water for a long time.

Scrunch and Toastie
March 3, 2012
Wish they came in 1/2 sizes. I took the liners out and walked around the house to break them in, just like recommended. But the shell of the boot is what's going to determine the fit of the boot cause once I put the liners back in they felt snug in the toes again. Wear only regular socks though and my feet are very warm. Like the easy on/off. Excelent for snowmobiling.

How does the boot fit? I normally wear a 9 in a running shoe, I wear a 8 in a Sorel, how are these compared to a Sorel fit?
I'm going to Idaho and need a wam waterproof snow boot.
December 27, 2010
I have a couple pairs of Sorel boots and i would say that this boot has a much snugger fit than the Sorels. In Sorels you always have ( or at least I do) that extra room all around for some reason. I'm a 10 in Sorel and in this boot, but the difference in this is the memory foam liner that cushions your foot all around it. In the Sorels it is just a wool or felt liner insert, and you get alot more wiggle room, but they aren't as comfortable or warm as these Baffins. Also, alot of people tend to size down one size or half a size when they buy Sorels, which it seems you do too... you said you take an 8 in them and a 9 regularly, so i would go with your regular 9 running shoe size when purchasing this Baffin boot. Hope this helps!

I wear a 9 in all shoes and about 8.5-9 in a sandel. I could not go smaller in these. The liner hugs my foot tight. Your feet won't get wet from snow in these unless you are standing in a two foot puddle of water. Though, they might sweat, which is the reason for wearing wool socks (also keeps the boots smelling fresh). I would not go with an 8 if you wear a 9 running shoe. Just my OP.I have not tried the Sorels, but there is a live customer service person on here 24hrs you could ask. They were very helpful for me.
I am attaching a picture of them untightened.

Ordered these boots for myself & two daughters, age 12 & 14. I normally wear a 7.5, ordered an 8 and love the snug fit. My daughters on the other hand didn't and I ordered up 1.5 sizes for each of them. I believe it's because they were accustom to how other boots with felt liners are a little sloppy feeling. They are happy and I have relief if they're feet grow any more! We all have somewhat narrow feet (especially in the heel for the girls) so a very slight slipping inside of boot on the heel...no biggie, keeping these babies!
Anybody know who wide this boot runs? I have a slightly wide
Anybody know who wide this boot runs? I have a slightly wide foot, not wide enought for a true wide size but I usually have to try on several brands to find one that fits. And in a winter boot I want room for my performance winter socks. Thanks!
November 18, 2010
It accommodates all sizes as it has a foam liner that molds to your foot whatever the shape and with the thickest foam it also keeps your foot incredibly warm. If you have any further questions, please email me direct, valerie at email@example.com, your local BAFFIN sales representative! Stay warm and enjoy!

Waitin On Winter
January 1, 2012
I just purchased these boots for my wife and it has been very mild and unseasonably warm for this time of year in Chicago. I will definately repot back as soon as these boots get a real test from her. She keeps saying how comfortable they are and she is really anxious to test them also.
First, I love your site--and the fantastic customer service.

Gotta take the inner boot out to dry sometimes...
February 8, 2011
Hey everyone, just wanted to post this in case someone like me is out there and didn't happen upon this yet...I wear these alot and walk my dog a couple miles a day in these when the temps are cold, and when you wear a rubber boot that can't breathe its gonna build up moisture somewhere in the boot. This boot does a fantastic job of keeping sweat/moiture away from your feet by wicking it to the outside of the inner boot, and that is where i found all of my yummy sweat the other day. The inside rubber was pretty socked full of moisture , yet the liner was still holding up and doing a great job of keeping my feet dry (barely any wetness to the touch on the outside of the liner, inside of the liner was totally dry of course). So, if you wear these alot (like hours every day) i'd recommend taking the liners out every day and letting them air dry overnight, also take out the orange rubber grid insole thingys that are under the liners so that you can take a paper towel or rag and wipe up all the moisture that has built up inside the entire rubber part of the boot. I just worry that if this isn't done at least once in a while wouldn't/couldn't mold/mildew and other great stuff start to accumulate in there? I know this sounds so gross but i felt i had to share...hope this helps...

Baffin Impact Winter Boots
February 13, 2011
I LOVE THESE BOOTS. They are absolutely amazing, and incredibly warm!!! I seriously have trekked through ice, snow, rain, etc. with these puppies on and have felt like I was walking on a nice memory foam mattress the entire time. Bring it on, winter! I'm ready for ya with these boots!
The boots are true to size--I wear between a 9-10 and got the 9s. They fit perfectly! Love the comfort and the lining. Strangely, too, the boots do not feel terribly heavy/clunky, either. I've actually run short distances in mine.

Are you sure about that weight? I have the Musher size 8 (same liner, etc) and they are 5.2 pounds for both. I can't imagine the Impacts weigh 1.6 pounds more.

Write your question here...Do you make these boots with velcro straps instead of the buckles? Five years ago I bought a pair and would like to buy a similar pair?
October 21, 2009
I am sorry all of the Baffin boots in stock are buckle or lace ups. Buckles and laces have been deemed as superior to velcro so it is not used as much any more.

These run small
December 30, 2010
I have a women's 9 narrow foot and have never worn a size 10 in any shoe, so I ordered these in a 9. Way too small. Not really too narrow, just very short in the toe. Order up a size! Other than the size issue, they seemed great. I was disappointed not to be able to wear them as we'd just had a huge snowstorm. I'll send them back for a size 10

Could I ride a motorcycle (sportbike) in these boots? (Is the toe box flexible and small enough for shifting?)
September 26, 2009
I have these bots and also have I motorcycle. I would not wear these to ride a motorcyle. The toe is too bulky and does not provise enough sensation to feel the shifter. I would wear them as a passenger if its really, really cold, but then that would be too cold to ride for me!!

Merry Christmas Greetings From North Central Montana!
December 29, 2010
My husband and I purchased these boots for our Christmas presents to each other. We actually couldn't wait for Christmas so as soon as they were delivered we put them on. What a joy to have our feet warm finally. We have had many a pair of packs/mucks/whites and yet have never been as warm as these. Comfortable too. Yes, they are a little on the tight side when you first wear them, but by-golly they form to your feet. I walked 8 miles behind a large herd of cattle while my husband lead them in a tractor to our ranch. I was never cold one time. It was not a nice day either, ice rain, winter white out and windy... but we made it. Love the length of the boot, the band around the top to keep the snow out, the easy buckles to tighten them, and especially the easy slip on and slip off of them. I did ask the salesman if they had a removable liner and he said no... low and behold you can take the liner out as they need to be dried out if you happen to sweat at all. They are the best boots that we have ever purchased... They are ever so light.... easy to walk in. Sad to say that we found both pair of them in a store here in MT. for about 50 dollars less a pair than what you are selling them for... nevertheless, we love them and thank you for introducing them to us...

I just got these boots in the mail and love them. The only problem is that the size 8 I bought (my normal size) will only allow me to wear a normal sock. Should this be sufficient? The temperature range I work in is -20F(-29C) to 15F(-10C). It would be too difficult to exchange them under my time crunch. Thanks!
April 16, 2009
I also bought an 8 (my normal size is an 8 to 8.5). When I first put them on they were really snug, and I thought I would have to exchange them for a size up. After I wore them around for an hour the inner liner conformed to my foot and now they fit perfectly.

Boots R Awesome
December 6, 2010
Was lookin for a boot that kept my feet warm, but that were not so heavy that I couldn't walk. These boots are the ticket. They keep my feet very warm, they have a little weight to em, but nothin like the boots I've owned in the past, and they actually look good too. I like the buckles, because I dont have to worry about shoe laces coming untied in the cold. These boots rock, and would recommend them to anyone and everyone!!
August 21, 2009
I work in a -20 freezer for 10 hours a day, and these boots keep my feet toasty warm. I do not feel the cold at all through them. The insulated lining is soft and springy, conforms to the shape of your foot, and provide excellent support and comfort. The one draw back is that they are HEAVY, so I wouldn't recommend them if you plan on walking for long periods of time. All in all I love these boots and would highly recommend.
Womens Baffin Boots
January 7, 2009
Every women in Canada and anyone else living in cold climates Should have a pair of these boots with them at all times when they travel even a few miles from there home. I can't tell you how important it is to prepare for the elements. I lived in northern Alberta most of my life and nearly lost my life several times for not dressing warm enough especially if you hit the ditch when driving and have to walk 15 miles to get help. Keep a pair in the trunk of your car they could save your life someday. Were them if your power goes out in your home. Great for giving to a grand parent. I will be buying a pair and at 139.95 no one has an excuss not to buy a pair they are afforable. Your life is worth the price. When buying Survival gear always buy a higher rating. You can always wear layers of socks and remove layers when needed.
February 10, 2009
I bought these boots in hope that I could have warm feet for once. My feet are always cold and are even more sensitive since my foot surgery 9 months ago. Granted I have not wore them other than snowmobiling, but I have not yet have had cold feet. I only wear one pair of normal socks(not heavy wool or 2 pairs to keep them warm!). My feet would always get cold no matter what the temperature is, but not now. They are not too bulky and are light weight. I love them. Those of you out there that have cold feet, these are the boots for you!
