I am sort of a connoisseur of high-end performance boxers. I feel its one of the things you should really spend a little extra money on (great quality of life improvement). Between these, my Ex-Officios, and my Under Armours... I think these are my favorite. They are the lightest and the most comfy. They are packaged like an apple product. I don't think I've ever got boxers that were in a nice, full-color box (not that it matters). Wore them to work, worked out after, grabbed them the next morning (after a quick smell test), and wore them again - no odor at all. The only bad things; have a little bit of a bunching issue on only one of my legs (not sure why) and there is no fly on these (which I thought was very weird). Made for an interesting first trip to the urinal.
Very nice design and material make these shorts really versatile. Extremely light and breathable make them comfortable even in high output/high temperature situations. There has been some thought in the design with reference to the male anatomy that sets these apart from others. Seams are very comfortable and the degree of stretch/support is perfect. Only used for summer activities so far but I anticipate changing out all my winter undies for the Tele season. Arc'teryx, please be more responsible in packaging these, the packaging seems to be really wasteful and I'm sure it probably costs as much as the shorts to produce !
Who would have thought underwear would make a ski day more enjoyable? I went with a small but think I should have gone with a medium. 5'7 155lbs but I guess my larger quads made them a bit more snug than I anticipated, but not uncomfortable at all. Working down 4000 vertical feet at Jackson Hole from Tram to Hobacks in the sun will make you work up a sweat. Previous cotton/blend underwear would leave me with swamp butt. Not this stuff. Kept me dry and super comfortable! What an upgrade to my gear! Pricey? Yeah, but is $30 is all it takes to keep my butt happy and dry, it's worth it.
Alrighty, the Phasic material is absolutely outstanding, it's comfortable and extremely functional, which is why I don't mind dropping $35 for a pair of these undies. The waistband, however, is your typical cotton/elastic nonsense, even low grade in my opinion, I've heard the elastic bands snapping the first time I've put on a pair of these things. Very disappointing and uncharacteristic of Arc'teryx. I don't know what they were thinking, if it had to be elastic I've got 2(x)ist underwear that have vastly superior waistbands, the waistband on the Phase SL Boxer seems almost disposable. Anyway, enough whining, I love them anyway, I've never been this comfortable in underwear, particularly when I'm sweating buckets.
Been wearing these since they arrived, going on two weeks now. So I feel I can finally leave an accurate review. So far they've been super supportive, keeping the package securely stowed in it's ergonomic and anatomically correct pouch. I'm very active and bike daily, in my ol' drawers I suffered from horrible blister tip (I even applied triple antibiotic ointment every night). Thanks to these smoothy smooth wonder boxers it's finally healed up!
Thank you, Brandon! That is the info that I was looking for. I am looking to switch from Under Armor, and it seems like these would be the best. Thanks again!
Unlike most boxer briefs these don't have that flat front squash your junk to your leg feel. They beat every other pair of boxer briefs I've worn for sure. The Ex officios are a nice alternative, but if you can spare 10 extra bucks, to me they're definitely worth it. Oh yeah, and maybe the best thing, after a full day of wear, they weren't stretched out and sliding up my leg like other boxers
I really think these are nice boxers, the material breathes amazingly well and does not smell even after multiple days of wearing in the backcountry. However the fit is really not worth the 35$ price tag. I usually buy a medium in arcteryx lower body since I have a much bulkier/more muscular lower body. I purchased both the medium and the small, the small definately fit much better but even the small wasn't quite tight enough around the quad area. Maybe the mateerial isn't quite as stretchy as the exofficios that I came from. However I did decide to keep them becouse they hold your junk remarkably well.
I frequently suffer from a wet butt after snowboarding, not from the snow, but from sweat....fun. I finally realized that it was probably due to wearing regular cotton boxers under my power stretch baselayer, which is quite thick.
I decided to try the Phase SL boxer after having a great experience with the moisture wicking and insulating properties of the Phase AR top and the boxers did not disappoint. Even after a pow day in Utah where I was really working hard, the boxers kept me dry.
I am considering buying 5 more of these for my next 6 day snowboarding trip.
