Arc'teryx Maverick AR Jacket - Men's

Item # ARC0870

With a warm, streamlined design that’s perfect for layering, the Arc’teryx Men’s Maverick AR Jacket is ready for everything from a fall day hike to a deep winter ice climb. The Polartec Thermal Pro fleece conserves body heat while the smooth, DWR-coated face slide easily under your shell layer. Arc’teryx also added No-lift underarm gussets to ensure the jacket won’t ride up when you’re planting your ski pole or reaching for that next handjam.

Bottom Line:

A warm, easy-layering fleece for four-season use.

Best fitting midlayer from Arc'teryx if you have an athletic fit

By:

I love Arc'teryx but I'd never been too happy with the fitting of their mid-layers. I have a broad shoulder and long arms despite compared to my ~38" chest, which kinda falls in the "small" size range (albeit being on the larger side of that sizing's range). So I've had the toughest time finding a good fitting mid layer fleece that hugs my chest and especially my waist in modern fitting fashion. The maverick does this better than any other fleece midlayer I've tried in recent years. The cut is modern (chest around 40" and the waist cut doesn't balloon up like most jackets), design is simple and sophisticated, and polartec fabric kicks butt as usual - keeps the heat while wicking away the sweat (it's amazing how fast the moisture transfers out the exterior of the jacket). I wish the sleeves were a tad longer, but like i said, my shoulders are a bit broad and my arms are disproportionately long (i prefer ~35" from center back to wrist...i think these are ~34"), so it shouldn't be an issue for the general mass. Got it in abyss blue, the color contrast between the blue fabric and Arc'teryx print in white looks pretty slick. Why no five stars?!?!?! well, both of the hand pocket zippers don't go all the way up, leaving a small gab at the top when zipped up!!!!

Good buy

I wear these fleece all the time. I find it to be both warm and stylish and the sleeves are long enough in an XL to fit my 6'4" frame. As with all arc'teryx stuff, you are going to have to pay the price for it. I bought mine on sale (older version) from SAC about a year ago and its still working great.
