Arc'teryx Accelero Jacket - Men's

Feels and looks great, but not at all trim (see my similar quarrel with the Celeris). I'll admit to being scrawny at 5-10 and 135, but I'm swimming in a Small. Please, Arc, make this truly trim or beginning producing X-Smalls. I'd love to own this jacket if it fit.

I use this jacket often for things like running and rowing crew. It is incredibly breathable and really lightweight.I'm 6'2" 185 and the medium size fits perfectly. I like how the back is longer than the front.

However, this jacket is pretty no-frills. There are no pockets aside from the arm pocket (which isn't big enough for an ipod touch). There is no drawcord around the hem, no hood, nothing but stretchy material around the cuffs.

However, the jacket looks fantastic. I feel great running in it. Fits like a glove and I've gotten more compliments on this in the last few weeks than on my Alpha SV, Venta AR, and Theta AR combined. So far no water has gotten through it, but I've only worn it in fairly light drizzle. The water beads off of it pretty well, but it is nothing close to waterproof I'm sure.

The thing about this jacket is that it is geared for pretty specific stuff. If you can justify to yourself buying a jacket that is not waterproof, has no pockets, but breathes great and fits perfectly, go for it!

I have about nine jackets; everything from an ultralight Marmot Mica rain jacket, to an Arc'teryx Alpha SV ice climbing/storm jacket, to a Mountain Hardware Subzero SL jacket for bitter cold and this Accelero jacket is easily my favorite overall, even if it's not my most practical or expensive jacket.

Breathes like nothing else. Keeps the wind almost fully of of you. Dries out in no time flat. Great for layering. Im 5"10 200 lbs with broad shoulders and athletic build and I wear a Medium. I like it to fit trim against my body. I jumped into a river with this on today and it was dry in 15 minutes. Have worn it for a year strait almost every day. I won't leave home without it.

Amazing for approaches.

Just purchased this jacket and it is very light. Unfortunately, a size "large" is too billowy for me, which is strange since I went by the size chart and usually wear large to xl in more athletic or technical jackets. So consider sizing down if you are going to use this in colder applications or for more active athletic use.
I used the jacket skate skiing for 70 minutes in 24F the other evening with a long sleeve medium weight underwear piece next to my skin and the Accelero jacket on top.
Because the jacket is too large on me, the open space it created caused some cold spots. I was exercising at mostly aerobic pace with some minor pushes at anaerobic threshold, and for the most part the jacket was "ok" it wasn't "awesome" as it didn't dry quickly at that temperature and with a little wind, I found it borderline cold for standing around in after the work-out. I don't think it would have been a very pleasing garment at that same activity but for a much longer time.
Post work-out, I just put a warmer jacket over the Accelero and drove home. It dried slightly by the time I was home, it was never soaking wet or anything, but it did seem to retain odor, so instead of just hanging it, I washed it in cold and hung it to dry. It was perfectly dry the next morning.
I went for a run this evening in similar temps in the 20s but with more wind and was very dissatisfied. I have other lighter technical jackets that keep me better insulated and I don't think the jacket's breathability is anything special. In fact, I would say unless you are doing zone 1, or light aerobic activity, this jacket is not a great piece to work out in. I was thinking the weight to warmth ratio would be much better, but it functions very similarly to a straight lightweight nylon jacket warmth wise, but not as good as nylon in wicking perspiration.
I love Arcteryx stuff and would like to try and exchange it for a warmer more technical piece, or in the least for a size medium as a tighter fit might help, but if you are looking for a light, functional and highly technical jacket, this Accelero may not be the one you want.

Semi waterproof, and wind resistant -- good jacket for pre- and post-ride, as well as foggy or damp excursions.

I have tried last year and this year's Accelero, love the material and fit. I mainly wear it as a top layer over a wicking shirt while running 5~10 miles. The HUGE drawback is lack of large pockets and no drawstring around waist. I do like a tiny tiny pocket on bicep, but it's barely large enough for...eh, a coin? I have to carry a few keys, cash, subway card at minnimal, and this jacket force me to wear a toolbelt (not really...fuelbelt) which I don't like. Arc is very minimalistic design, and this is perfect example, but for the price, they can add a little more functions.

Like other Arc garments, it's well made, handsome, and probably functions extremely well. But it's much too roomy for me. At 5-10 and less than 140, I have trouble finding many Smalls that will fit properly. Unfortunately, this is one of those. I wish Arc made its Smalls a little smaller; then again, I'd need another closet if they did. Although this seems intended for aerobic sports, it seems cut more for climbers. On my admittedly scrawny runner's body with admittedly shortish arms, the chest is too wide (although the stomach is decently trim) and the sleeves are much too long. If you have a well-developed upper body and long arms, or like extra sleeve length for reaching, then this will work for you. For my purposes, i.e., running with just a thin shirt underneath, it's too roomy through the body and has too much fabric weighing me down in the arms. The three stars don't reflect the quality of the piece, just my disappointment at how this is cut for its intended use--high-output activities.

Lightweight, breathable and very warm, this jacket is a very comfortable layer. I primarily wear this jacket while running and I don't even notice I'm wearing it. There's plenty of room to layer underneath and it doesn't hold smells.

It doesn't have many bells and whistles other than a small pocket on the left arm. I thought it was a bit pricey to have such few features, but it's still a great jacket and does exactly what it says.

My favorite features are that it's lined with bamboo and the sleeve openings have elastic to say in place on my wrists.

I use this for all outdoor aerobic activity. It is ridiculously light. Blocks the wind, blocks the drizzle, and has cool reflectors. I took it on a 30 mile bike ride today in 30 degree weather with a couple midweight smartwool layers underneath and was perfectly comfortable. I also use it for running and it works quite well.

The jacket looks cool too. Get lots of compliments on it's look. It's cut very athletically.

I have about five Arcteryx jackets and this is my favorite.

My ONLY recommendation for improvement would be to make the mp3 player pocket on the sleeve slightly larger. I would typically use my iphone for listening to mp3s and this pocket won't quite hold something that size. Given the prevalence of iphone-sized mp3 players, it just makes sense to have the pocket accommodate something of that size.

For fit, I am 6'2", 210lbs and wear a 42 Long sized suit and the MEDIUM Accelero works perfect. I can fit a couple layers of medium-weight smartwool underneath this jacket all zipped up without issue or tightness. I feel like a large would be a little baggy, which would seem to undermine the purpose of this jacket.

Great, super light material, good moisture management (moisture from the inside). Works well below 0°C / 30F as long as you are on the move producing heat (jacket does not really warm due to thin fabric).

Size runs big, for comparison, I (6'1" 170ish) got an Atom MX which is trim/snug fit, Gamma MX which is probably "athletic" fit and the Accelero, which is considerably bigger (all in size medium). The longer, hip length, cut is very nice, but it's also very roomy around the torso, so I had like 3cm stitched off from pits to waist on both sides to make it fit similar to the Gamma MX.

Small pockets would be nice too if you were to use it for hiking, trail running or other multi-hour/outdoorsy activities.

Owned for one season so far - great fit, I'm 185 6' and large is perfect. Used for running in cold weather (below or close freezing) and mountain biking. Holds off rain / snow for short showers. Also used for ski touring while skinning - worked great. I have the Epsilon AR as well. For comparison this is a thinner material which has taken some serious abuse with scrapes passing trees mountain biking and still looks new but might not be as burly as the Epsilon - it also feels like a closer weave and so keeps a little more wind out than the Epsilon but still really breathable - (bonus is it doesn't stink either after months of use). Very happy with it. About to buy a 2nd one.

Excellent jacket- Super lightweight, fantastic fabric and a generous cut. Far too many arcteryx lightweight jacket/half zippers are short in the front of the torso. Luckily the Accelero is nice and long- it also comes with drop back hem. It has excellent breathability during aerobic activity and moves well with your body. Its a great choice for outdoor activities. The only thing keeping this from getting 5 stars is the lack of a 2 pocket. It would be perfect to have a pocket in the rear of the jacket to stash a power bar or banana while running/biking.
