ON POINT

By:
July 3, 2011

I've been skiing (yes skiing) in these pants for 3 years and will probably buy another pair. although, with a re-up on some water proofing i could definitely keep rocking them for another couple seasons if i wanted to. so good! with the liners they're warm enough for the coldest days out there even when i only wear boxers under them. And, well, with the liners out i used them yesterday (july 2nd) and they were just what the doctor ordered. oh yeah, and they look dope!

Smarty Cargo Pants - Grey/Medium

By:
January 11, 2011

These are actually very good pants. The yellow is a bit much so I went with the gunmetal grey ones. Not too baggy, not too tight, perfect fit. I am 6"2 so could have gone with the 'tall' version but these touch the ground + when I am not wearing boots. Plenty of pockets, very stylish, I would wear them out shopping if I could get away with it. Went out in minus 10 (celcius) last night with serious wind and didn't feel a thing. Boa thing is certainly useless but it has them if you are into that. Had Burtons before this and these are definitely better. Will buy these again when the time comes to replace.

Also, apparently these pants have a hidden pocket but I will be fncked if I can find it.

Large will be good, 686 is sized generously and larges should be long enough for you.

I have never been snowboarding before. I have been buying all of my gear in the off season for this coming winter, these pants are pretty dope, baggy without being too baggy, perfect imo. I think they will keep me dry, i have heard really good stuff about these pants so i would buy them, and for 120 bux, why not right?

These are the greatest pants ever!

By:
April 21, 2011

So-
Recently I tore a hole through the leg of a pair of Burton pants...One day in Breckenridge I bought a pair of these pants to ride the next day. Here's the skinny:

1. My rear stayed dry and warm as I sat in the snow strapping in.

2. the pants didn't drag below my boots (I'm 5'6") which means they'll last longer than a day or two

3. I had plenty of pockets to stash my stuff in without bulk weighing me down.

4. These fit. No ifs ands or buts.

The search is over

These are buy far the best pants you can get. They are comfortable, warm, keep you very dry and have loads of places to stash stuff. I carry a pocket tool, python lock, granola bars, my wallet and loads of other stuff. The pockets are magical - I have forgotten to zip them up, yet my car key and wallet stayed in after an entire day. The style is awesome, they are baggy but not ridiculous looking with great color choices. I've owned the Kelly Green and Cyan and my friends have Lava.

They do run a bit big in the waist, but this is solved by just wearing a belt. You can't go wrong with them, you can't ever go cold (the liners make these things very warm) and the utility of the removable liner makes these unequaled in versatility. Buy them. Half the reason I even like snowboarding is the chance to wear these things.

Bought these before a snowboarding trip up to northern ME and couldn't be happier - a bit snug in the waist, but great pant leg opening and vents. Completely waterproof and warm - I didn't even wear a base layer. Definitely worth the few extra dollars!

Best pants

By:
February 24, 2011

Just bought my second pair of smarty cargos. Bought first pair 6 years ago. Same style. Wouldn't have needed the new pair if they didn't start to fit like spandex. Grew out of them ya!!! These pants will hold up through anything and hold all you need for a day of shredding. The only thing I miss with the new set that my old set had is the hidden tethered bottle opener in the leg. Imma drinker, not a smoker.

If you're still wondering... i have a feeling that they'd be a little short for you. i'm 5'10" 145lbs. and i wear the medium for a perfect baggy fit, not super thugged out, just nice and baggy. however, if you go with the large or xl you're going to have to lock them down pretty hard with a belt.

Got Small. For my height it's short a little, especially inner pants, but with boots it's ok. Good in waist.

Smarty Cargo Pants-Awesome

By:
January 24, 2011

I purchased the 686 Smarty Cargo pants from Backcountry after reading many reviews, these pants live up to how they are billed. I skied with them this past weekend in northern VT with negative degree temp's at the peak and was not the least bit cold, the material feels very durable and the stiching appears strong and well put together. These pants are not as baggy as many you see on the mountain but they are not tight in the leg either. I am exchanging these for a large after having worn them once. I purchased the medium and they feel a bit tight in the waist to me with the liner ziped in--I am 5'11", 185 w/ a 34" waist but I like my pants to fit loose (and wear suspenders). The return policy at Backcountry is easy and probably the best you will find, I strongly recommend buying these pants and if you are not satisfied for any reason they will refund 100% of your purchase price less $6.99 for return shipping-how can you go wrong?

Simply Put.... Amazing!

By:
January 23, 2011

I have now had these pants for a couple months and have rode in them for every weekend since i got them. They have been extremely warm and i have not gotten the smallest bit of water in them either. where i live over Christmas there was a heat wave and it got up to 40 degrees and i literally had to sit in puddles to strap in... They still stayed completely dry... by far the best snow pants that i have owned.

Extremely good product

By:
January 10, 2011

I am 6"3 and bought the gunmetal in medium. A large would have been too big. They are not too baggy, not too tight, just really good snowboarding pants. Went snowboarding in minus 12 yesterday and they kept me toasty. I have owned Burton before this and these are far superior in cut, style and warmth. Will be buying this product again when the time comes.

686 Smarty Original Cargo Pant - Men's

By:
December 6, 2010

Great looking pant with plenty of pockets. Runs a little large, I'm a 33 waist and using the medium I have to cinch the waist down all the way. Great loose fit, not overly baggy. Liner is great, should never get cold in these. The water protection is superb...this past weekend we were on the slopes and got hit with a sleet / rain / snow storm and I stayed bone dry, even after sitting on soaking wet lift chairs. The BOA access thing, though innovative, is completely worthless...just pull the snow skirt up a lock the boots. The hole is just too small and it ends up twisting the skirt as you try and tighten the boot. Can't speak to the durability as I've only used them a couple times, but so far I could not be more impressed.

Steamboat Shred Schl approved!!

By:
September 20, 2010

These Original Smarty Cargo pants are incredibly Awesome!!!!
The Steamboat Snowboard school used these as our uniform pants for a few years. I must have put at least 200 days on them in allllll conditions imaginable.
Even w/ so many days,These Smarty Cargo pants held up,always keeping me super warm and dry!!! I liked them so much that I bought another pair in a different color to wear on my off days. The Smarty liner is Great for lounging around the house or walking the dog before you hit the lift in the morning.
Everybody should have a pair of these pants!!!!!!!!!!
